I have chewed since this kid I used to work with on the farm gave me some Skoal when I was 16. That was 23 years ago. He quit after a few years, and I was pissed he was able to. Now, I have a job where almost everyone chews. So, this is going to be hard, but I am getting at the age where cancer really scares me, and I don't want my kids to have to watch me die for something I did to myself. Anyhow, gave a full can to a co-worker, sent the kids to grandparents for spring break, and apologized to wife in advance. Its been since yesterday afternoon, but this is going to happen.

Dutch,
Welcome. This will be one of the best decisions of your life. You are right this will be hard, but it is also simple. Post roll every day, this is your promise not to use any form of nicotine. Get through each day minute by minute if need be.
Go here to learn how to post roll: Welcome Center (http://forum.killthecan.org/forum/55560/)
Then go here to post roll: July Quit Group (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11069030/20/#new)
Glad to quit with you today. PM me if you need anything.

Great choice, Dutch. All you have to do is follow what PatrickG said...post roll, read and repeat. This won't be easy. But nothing worth doing is. YOU GOT THIS!!!
Work places are full of addicts...just not everybody is addicted to chewing. One quick way to set yourself apart (and above) your co-workers is to quit right there in front of them. They'll make comments, jokes, etc. But they ALL will be secretly in awe of what you're doing. Their comments and jokes are born out of envy and jealousy that you had the guts to take your freedom back while they stay huddled with the other cowards in their nicotine prison.
Congrats on having the guts to make this choice. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Great start Dutch.
Great advice from bean and Patrick. I would add water and then some more water. It's Also good to talk about your quit. It's a decision but also a commitment to focus on it and "work" it out. You were spending alot of time chewing. In the beginning spend that same time quitting!
Walk with the wife and talk about it. When you get mad... Come in here and rage on us. (not your wife). Read all you can and then get to know some guys in July. Keep a journal here in your into and at the bottom right set up notifications so you will be alerted when someone post support here for you.
Do what ever it takes to keep the poison out of your mouth.
It will suck until it doesn't.
You can do this.
I quit with you and your water bottle today!

Congratulations Dutch,
I'm glad you made the decision to give up chew. The first few days are ruff I won't lie, when the craves get bad grab some fun, jolly ranchers, whatever you have to not to put that cat shit in your lip. It gets easier after that keep posting roll, get to know people in your quit group, get numbers and you'll be successful. If you need anything shoot me a message I'll be glad to help you with anything bro.

Good job posting roll today. This is how it starts! Make it the next 24 hours-then repeat. I am proud to quit with you.

Welcome aboard Dutch! Good to meet you in Chat this morning.
You won't regret this decision. Ever.

Hiya Dutch, I am a Day 2 Quit today. In the fight with you brother!

Dutch read your intro and liked what I read. Ultimately quitting is not a war against dip, it's a war against your addiction. Who and what controls what goes in your mouth? You? Or your addiction? You've spent 23 years listening and obeying your addiction....that's over Dutch. You take control. Good luck.

Let's go Dutch! Day 3! Where you at?

Let's go Dutch! Day 3! Where you at?
Dutch only way you gonna do this is be a man of your word! I see you're a God fearing man, so let's quit defining the body and do this! Grab your sac and follow me I'm headed for freedom but you gotta be willing to battle every day! Just an addict trying to help another addict!
-
How you doing Dutch?? Keep the quit!
-
EDD...make it mean something. Every damn day post roll. I know it seems corny at first, but believe me when I tell you the more you do it, the more you'll be noticed when you don't. Build up as much accountability as you can.

Dutch, congrats on your day 300!
