Over the years I have stopped and restarted dipping at least a half dozen times. It never fails, I will be out golfing, or working in the shop, and I always think "Just one won't hurt...", then "Just one more won't hurt....", then pretty soon I am buying a new can. I have finally realized that there can be no "just one more" for me.
Time to quit for good this time!

No need to write me off, I will be here every day! I must have screwed up something with the post, it looked funny when I checked it, but I saw my name on there. I may have posted between when somebody else did. Whatever the case, I will be here, guess I need to check more frequently.
Have an awesome weekend!

I picked up some Smoky Mountain Wintergreen this evening, simply because I was nervous about the weekend. Strangely, it has worked amazingly for me, much better than Fireballs, coffee stirs, and pens. Even though I know it is nicotine free, I still feel guilty, why is that?
On top of that, has anybody else used SMC? Do you have to get past that as well? If so, I may as well throw that away too...
Have a great dip free weekend!

Some have used it and others have not, the most important thing, if it helps keep nicotine out of your mouth then do not worry about it. I used it to fight cravings for 8 or so months. Still keep some around for a safety net. Bottom line whatever works to keep you nicotine free.

I used fake for my first 80 days or so. The Hooch variety for the most part.
I looked at quitting as 2 pronged.
First I had to get and keep the nicotine out of my system to quit the addiction. This was the main goal. To keep poison out of my body and give it time to heal. So for this I did what ever it took and used what ever else I could.
The Second was the habit of the oral fixation for having something in my lip constantly for 23 years. Ok here was the slower going as I handled this after feeling like I did not need the dip/nicotine. So I used the fake. I changed it up and did not use it all the time but only for craves. But like mentioned one day in my 70 range I felt like I no longer needed it, and since there is no chemical dependency, I used less and less to where now I only have it on hand for the worst case scenarios.
So use it or not it is your choice, but remember to tell yourself that it is not the same and that you are using it as a tool to quit. This way consciously you know that it is different. And in time you won't need it anymore either.

I used the fake for about 40 days. It really helped the first 2 or 3 weeks. I trashed it with no problem. You can't get addicted to herbs.
Your doing great brother. Do what you mush. Stay quit, that's your goal right now! Glad to be quit with you.

Thanks guys, as I wake up this morning I find that there is really no desire for the fake chew. I must have just been nervous about the weekend.
Thanks again, have a good weekend.

I was totally against fake in the beginning.. In the middle of a fog, I started using it to get me through the day.. didn't last very long, and the cravings subsided.. Point is do whatever it takes to stay quitÂ… have some fake around for emergencies.. it saved me a couple times, and i'm glad I had it at that time.. peace

Exnuke, way to go you're doin' it. Day 3 to be honest was a warped nightmare for me. But then again so was Day 6. Day 8 is starting out good so far. But you never know how intense the day is going get. I quit with you today. We will grind it out together.

A few quick words about Brett on his 100 day milestone....
Kicking the bitch to the curb is daunting task in the early days of one's quit. When we were a young group, foggy as hell, and just trying to survive day by day....remember those days? (don't ever forget them!)..........it was kind of like going into combat. You looked to the left and right at the names of all the other quitters and for most, questioned whether they were going to 'survive' to make it to the key milestones in their quits. You wanted to believe so, but you just didn't know for sure what everyone was made of....so we banded together and pushed forward.
And then there are guys like Brett, who from day 1 you just know are going to make it and you know you can count on if you run into trouble. It's hard to quantify just what makes quitter stand out as a leader and a role model. A lot a folks throw around tough rhetoric....but that doesn't mean anything here. It's all about what you DO, not what you SAY. The tough survive and lead by example....every damn day! This is Brett. Like a rock.
Congrats on your milestone buddy. Now give that quit train horn a good tug and press on.

You gonna just shit all over April 2014 roll like you belong there! Fuck you! I am not a Resolute Bastard but I sure as fuck was your HOF conductor. We chose you to be a conductor as well and you did that. You garbage quitter thinking they want to hear anything for you. Fuck off. That is what you said to all of us here. Once you were thought of as a leader..... Wow was my ass wrong. You better take your sorry ass to your new group and beg for them to take you in. I wouldn't want you.
You know how to quit and had all the support in the world. Why did you turn your back on everyone? You know how to plan and keep yourself from a cave. Did you use any of these tools? How many numbers did you have from your quit brothers and sister Ginet? "Just one dip won't hurt" mentality is what will kill your quit quicker than anything else.
I am writing this for one, FUCK YOU! and the other is to show you young guys don't become this guy. We have the tools and know how to quit. Now use them, as ExNUKE has shown us, and other half ass quitters have shown us time and time again, the only way to be quit is to post daily and build up some brotherhood! Now do it and do not get away from the tools that helped you in the first place. Fuck you ExNuke

I hope every quitter under 30 days reads this and gets it - just because you have a bunch of days behind you doesn't mean it isn't still day 1. Treat every day like day 1. We are uncurable addicts.
