hey everyone. I am not the type of guy who usually asks for help... but this time- this site- all you- seem right. I have been trolling around here for a couple of days and finally registered. I quit 2 days ago and will not go back. lied to my wife and daughter and myself for too long. I didn't even realize just how long I had been on the stuff until I was talking to a guy at work who just quit smoking. 15 years is long enough. 2 days has been rough- funny how before I decided to quit I could go a day or 2 and be fine- but I decided now that I will not go back to it and it's messing with my head.

Congratulations on making the decision brother. A little advice:
1. DON'T PUT THAT SHIT IN YOUR LIP. You are quit now. You are done. No withdrawal symptoms will compare to eating through a straw when they remove half your face.
2. Drink water like you're in California and they're turning off the taps tomorrow. Seriously, it helps flush your system.
3. Juice, especially citrus, helped me. Recommend orange / cranberry if you like them.
4. Go into your group (Pre-HOF August 2015) and post roll every day when you wake up. That's your promise that you won't use nicotine for the following 24 hours. That's all you need to promise. You can do anything for a day.
These next two days will be hell. My recommendation is keep posting in this thread. Write it down. Write exactly how you feel, even if you feel like you're whining and complaining, whatever. You want to remember these 72 hours so vividly that you never want to experience them again.
It's useless to say "keep your mind off dip" because chances are, it will be on your mind almost constantly. But do anything to keep yourself from giving in. Don't think you can take the crave? Go into the break room and do push-ups until you can't move. Leave your money at your desk (so you can't buy a tin) and go on a walk until you can handle it. Sleep as much as possible without getting fired.
Most importantly, go make your promise to your new brothers in August and then DON'T PUT THAT SHIT IN YOUR LIP. It's that easy.

I never needed anyone's help either - that is why I "quit" 40-50 times over 17 years. Then I asked for help and have been free for over a year. Join us!

thanks for the advice and support.
I work swing shifts. 2 weeks on days and 2 weeks on nights. right now I'm laying here trying to fall asleep but not having any luck. weekend off then back to dayshift monday. normally I would be chugging beer with a fat lip. decided not to drink to much till I get a little more control over my cravings. hard enough to not cave without alcohol lowering my inhibitions.

You are in the right place and are not alone!! I chewed for nearly 40 years and this site is my reason for quitting. Listen to the vets - they have been through this and can help you. We are all in this together!

typing this more for myself than for anyone to read.
4 days in and feel as good as I have since I said enough. amazing how strong a pull something so small can have on your life. I know its far from over... probably will never be over but at least I can say I'm done.
starting to find out just how much this site and everyone on it means. all I have done is posted a few small tidbits but the support and outreach come... no matter when or why.
hopefully I will get to a point where I am as strong as the rest of you and will be able to help someone get over this habit- the way each and every one of you is helping me

4 Days. I remember feeling pretty good early on. Don't get lulled into a false sense of security. She's not done with you yet.
She's still talking to me at 133. I've made HER my bitch. But she still won't shut up.

this is not the 1st time I've quit... but it is the 1st time I've had anything like this site to help. typing does seem to help but for me reading does more

that reply may have been a little quick. given the opportunity to offer my support and encouragement I will do so gladly... but being this fresh in to my own quit I'm not sure what I can offer just yet besides quick responses that come across wrong

Actually CM, this is the first time that you have quit. Everything else in the past was just a temporary stop. Now that you found KTC - you are quit. One Day at a time.
I never asked anyone for help before coming here either, like many of us at KTC. You now already have several badass quitters ready to.
Get on roll and make that promise first thing every day. You can do this. Because of your work schedule, be sure to let your august group know when your schedule changes. We watch out for eachother here.
proud to be quit with you CM.
