Finally broke down and quit yesterday. Besides the normal withdrawal feelings, I have a mixture of incredible guilt and relief. Hid the probelm from my wife and family. Always told myself I had it under control becuase I didn't consider myself a "heavy" dipper. Came clean to wife yesterday. I feel so ashamed. She was obviously very hurt because I hid from her for so long, she just feels lied too. Fortunatelly she is an incredible woman who has pledged her full support and love to help me KILL THE CAN. I have a ton of guilt, I'm ashamed, I'm scared, but at the same time I'm excited for that day when a chew is not on my mind all the time! Bought the Nicorette gum, but in reading it looks like the hardest part is the first few days getting the nicotine out of you. I had a couple pieces yesterday so I guess today is really day 1! With help of the lord and my family, today I QUIT!!!

Welcome Overdue32,

Yes, no nic whatsoever. I learned that the hard way. But, it is totally worth it. First few days are rough. Go to the Welcome Center (top of screen in pink).
Learn to post roll and do it everday. It will save your life. You'll be a December HOFer. Get numbers from your brothers and sisters. Reach out to any one of us. We are here for you.

Regarding your guilt and shame: that will heal with time. Every day you're nic free those feelings should dissipate very quickly. Hey man, you're human. Sounds like you got a great gal who is on your side.

I am glad to be quit with you today.

Welcome,

The best thing you have done is come on this site because we all know what you are going through.

The other great thing is that you came clean to your wife. Now you are accountable at different levels and that sure helps.

Overdue, there's only one way this works, and that's if you COMMIT.

I don't mean the commitment to your wife. She loves you, but she doesn't understand.

WE understand. WE ARE ADDICTS. Say it with me, I AM ADDICTED TO NICOTINE. Say it again and again until it sinks in totally.

Now this one....I WILL ALWAYS BE AN ADDICT.

Everyone at KTC is a nicotine addict, even the ones who quit using 15 years ago.

The difference is that we are nicotine free. It doesn't control our lives anymore. It doesn't poison us, our work, our bodies, our relationships, our finances anymore.

And to become nicotine free, every one of us had to commit to being nicotine free.

Not starting soon, or someday, starting NOW. And when we made that commitment, we went online to KTC and we PROMISED (via posting roll) every other nicotine addict on here (that is, all of us) that we wouldn't use nicotine that day. 24 hours.

KTC works because we are committed. Go post roll, and make your promise for today. And we'll get your back.

Welcome....form another ninja dipper (well former ninja dipper)! I commend you for telling your wife! I am 22 days quit and still have not told my wife! Feel guilty about not telling her.....but......she definately would not understand and I think the added stress of her being pissed at me would make my quit more difficult. Different methods for different people I guess. Have to say you have some stones for coming clean to your wife and I admire you for that!

I Dipped while on a deployment in Iraq and never quit when I came home like I told myself I would......been ninja dipping for a friggin year but that ended 22 days ago.....thanks to this site!

Welcome and stay strong! Realize it is an addiction not a habbit! I actually came to terms with that TODAY!

I hear ya Jeromiarnold,

Already had to throw a hooch in to fight it. We'll get through it though. I keep telling myself if I start back now then I am throwing away all the hard work from the past five days. Work, that I frankly don't want to have to go through again.

So if I am willing to throw the past 5 days away then I might as well never quit and face all the problems this poison packages and forget all the reasons I quit in the first place

For some reason that thought process continues to loop me back to fight the cave and win another day. Let me know if I can help, I can promise I will do the same if need help.
