Title: Spiteful quitter
Post by: Healthygums on January 16, 2014, 03:51:00 PM
Hey!
This is day 6 with no nic of any kind. I am very excited to see so many people coming together and helping each other out, I never thought the community would be so big and active. I dipped for 6 and a half years and have attempted to quit several times before only to fail miserably, I have never made it more than 7 days. But this time feels way different, I am on day 6 and it has been incredibly easy. I know tough times are around the corner, but for now I am all smiles with two very large middle fingers sticking up at a couple corporations. I hate knowing that I am an addict, but I love knowing that someone else is addicted to my money and as long as I stay quit I am depriving them of their fix too!
To my fellow April Hall oÂ’ Famers STAY WITH ME! And here are a couple of things I am doing/thinking to stay quit.

-Watch disgusting youtube videos of cancer patients to remind myself of why I quit.
-I bought a new calendar and put it in my bathroom. I put a marker in my toothbrush holder and every night after I brush my teeth I check another day off on my calendar. If you do this, I recommend a fun one, like swimsuit or comical.
-Beef jerky/Sunflower seeds/worthers/unsweet tea
-$4Â… EVERY DAYÂ… Stack them babies
-I have also never been the expressive type, but I went and bought a couple of flip charts/ blank note books and I write all kinds of encouraging messages and leave them laying around my apt.

Hope some of these things help someone out there.
See you high ROLLers tomorrow!

Glad your quit brother. Welcome aboard.

Here us my advice:

1) post roll with your group every single morning
2) honor your word each day
3) reach out to your fellow group members and make friends.

Congrats on day 6 and I quit nicotine with you today.

Congratulations on not taking order from nicotine anymore! Welcome to freedom, welcome to the brotherhood of breaking the chains of addiction, welcome to April 14 HOF. Enjoy the good times, survive the bad ones. But ultimately you have to engrain in your brain that nicotine is the devil. It isn't "okay" or "pretty good" and no you can have just "one dip". When we quit here we go all in. Done in every sense and we never look back. Welcome aboard. If you sign roll and mean it then I'm quit right beside you.

The freedom gets sweeter every day, I'm on day 656 quit after 40+ years of addiction and I never knew life could be so good. I always hated myself because I allowed myself to be a slave. Rock on!

First day back at work last night since quitting. It kind of sucked, but at the same time I was very proud of myself for putting up with such a big group of giant A-holes and still staying quit. The quit contract is a big help, reminding me why I quit each and every day and why this is worth while.
Today begins day 11, Stay quit my fellow bastards!

Are you going to be in chat?

Seams a little strange to me....Could post into an intro but not a Quit Group??

Call a fellow quitter to post for you at the very least,You do have digits.....Right??

Why are you waiting so long into your day to "try" and post anyways? Post roll first thing, as quickly as you can. Then get on with your day being Quit and Staying accountable.

Back to the digits question, PM me and my number is yours 24/7 365.

Please remove all the NEGATIVE BULLSHIT from my journal, I don't need it and it is not helpful. If any of the 3 of you gave a shit at all you would have just pasted my roll over there for me.
No I don't have your number
I work night shift my day starts very late.
I work 13 to 14 hours a day and I woke up late yesterday and nothing worked from my cell phone except this - Next time I'll just add a reply to roll, maybe that will help.
Just incase you forgot - Reread the first 2 sentences.

The start of day 13 - this is gonna be a rough one.

Healthygums,

I had a very similar PM conversation with another member from your group earlier today. Said member hasn't responded. Didn't respond to my 1st PM either. At least you are responding. However, what you see as negativity, we see as addressing your addict babble. That's exactly what it is. It isn't negative to say so. You are not reading and learning about your enemy "nicotine and addiction." Diesel, Ginet, Jaynelle, and I are not your enemy.

I will send you my cell number in a PM. You can ask me to post you to roll--it is not a burden for me to do so. If for some reason I can't, I will find someone who can. But, please, man...lose the attitude and let those who can help you, propel your quit. Diesel is a badass mofo. Read his intro. Read his trials, failures, addict babble, and then look at the badass quitter that emerged.

If you can post here, you can and should be posting in your group.

Btw, did you happen to see the discussion in April 14?? I see where you signed roll. Good job, man! Way to step it up and get back in it! Look at the discussion that has evolved since you posted roll (not being a smartass).

Look, we don't play by your rules, we play by KTC's rules. That means we post roll and if we aren't able to or don't know how to (i.e. you phone situation), we take responsibility for ourselves and figure it out. You made plenty of time to dip when you were dipping, so figure out how you can find 2 minutes to post roll.

Calling out 3 badass quitters, one of which is in your quit group and on the cusp of a 30-day milestone, isn't exactly the most constructive way to make friends around here or earn the respect of KTC. Like JayDubya said, drop the attitude and we'll be happy to quit with you. Or, keep the attitudeÂ…I'll reserve the choice words for now and give you the benefit of the doubt.

This place works, but it won't work if you fight it. The people giving you guidance know what they are talking about.

This may be your intro but this is NOT your quit group. You don't own KTC. Listen to those that has come before you. Why you displaying such an attitude???

You can either join in and do it the KTC way or you are gonna hear about it from the quitters on here that are winning. We are trying to get you on the path of quit. That is why this place works.

We post roll every day. No excuses. Excuses are for cavers. No cavers here. You can do this bro.

If you have time to do all this, which is great stuff by the way, then you have time to post role. Takes about 45 seconds.

Your quit is young. We just don't want you to fall into bad habits early.

Saying you don't have time to post role is negative bullshit.

I would gladly post role for you any day, but counting on me to know this by reading your intro thread is not realistic. A text, is a different story. If you want my digits send me a pm and I would be happy fo share.

Don't get all butt hurt when people come at you in a way you don't like. We are just trying to help you. Just gotta get your attention somehow. Relax.

Quit on...

Healthygums, everyone here has been at day 13, but sometimes we forget just how bad those days sucked. Still no reason to miss posting roll ever. This is a fight for your life, and your odds of survival go way up if you post roll everyday. The fact that people notice if your name is not on the list is impressive, but that they take the time to get on you about it is part of what makes KTC work. Drink some water, get some exercise and sleep, and quit on. Get some phone numbers so you can ask one of your quit-brothers to post roll for you if you are unable. PM me if you want mine.

(3) What are you doing differently this time?

Hoping to find a better reflection in here than I saw in our group. Glad to see you posted in July, but you got a whole lot of day 1's in your future if "I got drunk" is sum total of your insight into your cave and your addiction.

Healthygums,

I'm with SAM83. I'm sorry to lose you out of our group and I wish you the best of luck, but you really need to answer the questions with some really well thought out reflection. Not so much for us....but for you.

Look at your intro page man. It's practically devoid of participation from the one person who absolutely needs to be posting here....you. Now that you're back at day 1, how are you going to reflect on what you went through to 'almost' get to the HOF?....you certainly won't by looking here. 74 day of quit down the drain....what did you learn?

Next time the NB throws you a softy pitch, you gonna swing at that shit or you going to charge the mound? In you're case, you were faced with the NB (in person no less). Drunk or not, the first thought out of your mind when someone (yourself included) offers you nicotine ought to be to smack them upside the head....after which your second thought should either be to politely say "no thank you" or to get on the phone with one of us...immediately.

Please answer the questions and start by thinking about what exactly you're going to do the next time you find yourself in a challenging, potential cave situation. How you got there (drunk in this case) doesn't matter so much as how you're going to get out. Staying sober may be a good defense, but the bitch will always find a way around your first line of defense. What is your LAST line of defense? Define it, OWN it. Put some real thought into it...and document your quit here. It will help you immensely.

Good luck in July buddy.

What happened? I got drunk and was offered a smoke, I accepted it
Why did it happen? Because IÂ’m an addict and I was shit face wasted.
What are you doing differently this time? IÂ’m not longer drinking like that.

I honestly donÂ’t believe all the numbers in the world would have helped me through that. I broke my promise without much thought. The only thing thatÂ’s going to prevent that from happening again is for me to stop drinking so heavily and quite possibly quit drinking altogether. I had zero problems staying quit until I finally got a couple days off work and started drinking.

I have put 2 numbers of quit brothers in my phone since yesterday, and IÂ’m looking for a rumored alc discussion group to get a better handle on this.
I am here to quit, I know what my downfall was and it is currently remedied. I'll post more about it as I educate myself more on it.

HG is missing. If any of you "basturds" still have his digits, could you please try and get in touch with him? Some of the July brothers have tried numerous times to no avail, he hasn't answered any PM's. HG is a 94% roll poster and on day 95 with us. Any of the Houston quitters know him personally? Thanks all.
