Title: The first day
Post by: kyle20100 on February 25, 2015, 12:34:00 PM
I've been a Grizzly Wintergreen dipper for the last 5 years but have been chewing for the last 7. Yesterday was the last day for me. I've wasted enough money on this shit!! I have tried to quit before but never truly wanted to quit. I was only doing it because someone else wanted me to. This time I'm quitting becasue I want to. I don't want my kids to have to explain why there dad isn't alive because I was selfish and only thought about myself. The longest I have gone without chewing was 3 month. I had my last dip yesterday afternoon but today will be my first official day without nicotine for good. I found this site half way through my quit last time and didn't utilize everything it had to offer. This time I am taking full advantage of the great work you guys do.

You've been chewing for 7 years and stopped for 3 months...I dipped for 15 years and only stopped 7 days max, so you are already way ahead of me. I am on day 56 and now I'd rather set my money on fire than buy that crap ever again. So if I can do it, you can...read everything you can here, post roll and make some friends for the hard times. Make a simple promise every day. THIS SITE IS THE GIFT OF LIFE, DON'T TAKE IT FOR GRANTED!

Way to go, Kyle. Lots of experience on here and you're definitely smarter than a lot of us older quitters who have 30-35 years of dipping and wishing we would have had the guts to stop under our belts.

Post your roll every damn day. Start today in June. You are on your day two as the count start when you take your last dip. Clean out the cupboards and pockets and toolboxes and car stashes etc. etc. WITH your wife helping you and FLUSH it all down the toilet so you won't be tempted to dumpster dive.

Read the site and connect with people. Shoot them a PM and exchange phone numbers for those nic emergencies. Talk to your wife about this place and your quit...she's put up with you chewing...she'll probably love to put up with you talking about not chewing.

Read the introductions of other quitters and see where they are/were in their quits. It's a lot easier to quit and hang in there when you know you're not insane and other folks have been there before you.

Welcome. Quit EVERY DAMN DAY for the rest of your long life my friend.

Welcome Kyle!

It is a pain in the ass at first, but once you get down the road a bit it will get easier. Drink plenty of water, mix up your routines and commit to stay nic free for 24 hours. We worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. We just make a promise to not use today.

If you need anything, just let me know. Stay strong and thank you for helping me quit!

Let's update this. On August 27th you posted 184 Days and left without a word. Today, you returned and informed your group that in January you caved due to a horrible personal situation. The translation is that despite everyone telling each other that we are never cured, you thought you were. Then, while disconnected from the group, you got run over by something that was unexpected and devastating. Had you still been plugged in or reached out in any way, I have no doubt you would be just shy of 400 days today. Instead, you've been fully back into the can and aren't ready to quit. There is never a better time to quit than right now.
