What's up everyone? I'm going to keep it short and simple...I used to smoke cigarettes for the past 10 years since I was 17. I picked up the habit when I was at a college soccer house party at Rowan university in New Jersey. And then kinda let go of the cigs for a bit until I hit the navy, talk about tough times?! Haha I was chewing and smoking at the same time!!! So freaking gross! I thought I was bad ass at the time, not. I've been quit smoking since March! And now it's time to kick the can right in the face! I was one of those smoke then stop then dip then stop then smoke and go back and forth! So tomorrow's the big day, where after 2363312 attempts that have failed finally happen and I take control of my life! I'm worried about the withdrawals, and the head aches and anxiety attacks but my mom was diagnosed with cancer (lung) and I figure the withdrawals would be a lot better than chemo every week and hacking up a lung or having my face chopped off! Wish me prayers, advice, luck!!! Any feedback will be great,,, oh and my can of choice was grizzly wintergreen long cut

Almost man. I understand the confusion with the months and stuff. You will be posting in the October group, which you can find HERE. (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11203031/14/#new)
We can all give you more details over there if you'd like!

Did I post roll right?
I'm not seeing anything yet...if you go to quit groups and then to the group pre HOF - October 2015 then scroll down to the Latest post. Copy and paste everything from second text box into the first and put your name days quit and then your promise for the day under the new badass quiter section.
-
Btw man, you are on day 1 right now unless you are still using nicotine. You put that your quit date is the 27th.... Tomorrow.... Which is it? If you quit today, then you're on Day 1 right now.

You want to quit? Really? You really want to quit? If the answer is yes then you came to the right place. 485 days ago I found this amazing place and it has completely changed my life. I am now the man that I have always wanted to be. One with honor and integrity.

Hey Bryan! Good to have you here. I was worried about the withdrawal symptoms too when I decided to quit. The truth is that while they may suck, none of them are going to kill you. And once you get through the worst of them, they become an excellent motivational tool to make sure you never use tobacco again. I know I sure as hell don't want to feel the same way I did that first week again.

Doesn't sound like you're ready to take the bull by it's horns. Sure, you stopped smoking cigarettes, but you haven't quit. You quit when you quit nicotine. But you're absolutely right that being quit is better than being on chemo, and therefor it's time to kick your addiction to the curb. Yea, I just said addiction (not habit).
The reason I point all this stuff out in your intro is because you need to go into this 110% and realize there is no turning back. No matter how much that nic bitch tries to lure you back, this is it. Confidence, willpower, integrity, strength, determination. This is what you need...not my prayers and wishes. Post roll, promise, and get involved. Do this and you're life will change for the better...that's a promise.

Way to get through it! It gets easier man..each time you do something nic free you extinguish old memories and create new healthy ones. Keep it going, nothing worth doing is easy and this definitely worth it
I post with my phone everyday, here's how
1. Go to your quit group and find the latest roll page
2. Tap "quote" box in bottom right corner
3. CUT the bottom box
4. Paste into the top box ( paste option should come up if you hold your finger on the empty top box)
5. Add your name and days quit underneath the quitters section
6. Hit send
7. Most importantly don't use nicotine that day
Day 3 is tough I got nothing accomplished and I craved and hurt all day. But it will get better a little each day. Just know that there is no going back. This shit will make you pay and each time I quit and went back it was much more difficult to stay away from. I am at 224 days today because of the tools I learned on this website. Stay strong man!

I used Smokey Mountain wintergreen to help my past the tougher periods, the last time i quit (90days). Its a pretty decent sub. I was worried i would be hooked on the herbal snuff, but i figured it was better than the real mccoy. 1.5 months later, i just got tired of it and didnt feel any need to keep stuffing my mouth with it. It gradually waned down, dipping the herbal stuff began to last shorter and shorter until i finally realized I didnt want it anymore, nor did i feel the need for it. I plan on using it again for my Final Quit. You can find it at wal-mart. I got a whole box just to make sure i wasnt ever caught without the option when times got rough.

Day 17 no tobbaco the reason why I didn't post in roll call is because I have used the nicotine gum, i have bipolar and quitting cold turkey wasn't an option due to past attempts so 17 days no chew . Been to urgent care about sores on the floor of my tongue and found out they're canker sores and they gave me some paste to put on them slowly but surely my mouth is healing has anyone ever hone through this where you had canker sores and they scared the shit outta you where they wouldn't go away? Well I'm gonna ween myself off the gum on day 30 and post in roll call and what not just thought I'd give an update.

But you did post roll call. Three times, in fact (albeit one of those times was in your intro thread). Were you posting roll while using nicotine gum, or did you start using the gum and that's when you stopped posting?
Here's the thing, dude. You showed up here and said "tomorrow's the big day!" Now we're finding out "the big day" is day 30...maybe? Because you said "I'm gonna ween myself off the gum on day 30". Ween means gradually stop, so that's not even an actual date. Are you seeing the pattern here? You keep pushing it off, and pushing it off, and pushing it off. I pushed quitting off for 13 years. Some people pushed it off for 40. And sadly, too many pushed it off and DIED before they got around to quitting. It has to stop TODAY or it won't stop at all. And deep down, you know that. I know you do. Stop ALL FORMS of nicotine, something I know you CAN do if you really want to do it. Just get rid of it, bro.
Let's try this plan instead. Today, 7/14/2015, is the big day. Toss that rancid gum away that you don't need, cut all ties with nicotine, a substance that you also don't need no matter what the excuse, and let's get you experiencing true freedom again. Forget your previous attempts to stop. We don't attempt anything here. We simply do it. Actually give the site a fair shot man. Go into the chatroom and meet the folks there. Trade numbers with your group in October. Give this place a fair shot before you determine quitting can't be done without patches, or gum, or whatever else.
You can do this!

Abstaining from using tobacco products would be quite the accomplishment worth congratulating if you weren't still using the drug that you're addicted to. I wouldn't congratulate an alcoholic for drinking beers when his drink of choice was Bourbon. Updating us quitters on which nicotine delivery system you are currently using means nothing to people here. Get the right mind set and then the quitters here will be willing to help...until then, take the advice given above.

Before I found KTC I went and bought the big pack of Nicorette from Costco with my grand plan. That lasted about 3 days! I then got the patches 2 years later and had used one patch when I found KTC. I read stories and intros all over this site. After about 2 hours of reading I tossed the NRT shit in the garbage. That was just over 600 days ago and I have not looked back. Your an addict! You can only be free by cutting the addiction cold. I am with everyone else here, you are pissing into the wind right now. You can either get on the train or quit wasting everyones time! Ball is in your court Bryan........

Back on it hard and heavy Bry.
Just like before.
Persevere.
Through the good times,
The hard times,
The completely impossible times.
You WILL do it, daily , like you know how to do already.
Learn from it ...never turn back.
You're going to get beat...Just take it...but dont take it personally. They hate nicotine, not you.

You got this bro!!! You know I got your back!!!
