Hello all,
My name's Sean and I'm new to this site. I'd like to first say- this really is a wonderful place to help people escape the nicotine/dip trap that has once captured us all.
I've come to the point in my life where I know that I am controlled by the can that is never out of arms reach. I've seen it detrimentally affect my life in many aspects: my bank account, my overall and oral health, and my social life. I've somehow been lucky (or cursed) enough to hide my disgusting addiction from my girlfriend ever since we've started dating, always coming up with lame excuses to get away from her just to throw in a chaw. The affect it has on my income is obvious. And as I see my teeth yellow and brown while my gum line receeds I know deep within my soul there was once a time in my life where I'd throw a five-finger death punch at my own face for ever putting in a dip.
I first experienced dip while playing baseball growing up, that mixed with being an avid waterfowler I was rarely ever without a can or someone willing to throw me a pinch. At first it was occasional but now it's seemingly a constant addiction.
I'd just like to extend my thanks to this website and I look forward to interacting with you all throughout my crusade to kill both the physical and psychological dip monster within me.
All the best,
Sean

Sean, after reading your introduction I'm left to wonder how in the world you can possibly justify one more day of dipping? Oh I know, because you're an addict like the rest of us. Read your own words, take them to heart and make the decision TODAY.

Wishing you great luck my friend. I hear you about the yellow teeth. Very embarassing. After 127 days without a dip,I can now look in people's eyes and talk with confidence.. Best thing to do for your journey is to buy the Crest White strips. This will help motivate you not to put a dip in. Life is so much better when you can finaly smile. I feel you about leaving family or girlfriend to stick a dumb ass dip in. Soon you will not be a slave to the devil. Warning.first 72 hours is nasty. Withdrawls like hell. Be tough. Drink tons of juice and stick tons of sugarless gum in your mouth. If you can get through week one, then it will get easier.
Days 1-4 pure hell but be tough. Prepare for anxiety, anger, and lack of sleep
Days 5-20 some cravings but feeling great not having a dip. Anxiety levels
decrease and sleeping patterns improve.
Days 21-80 Everything is so lively. Sight, sound, taste,ENERGY,strength, etc. Social
life increases. Bank account looking so much better. Some
cravings that last a minute or two. By now, fuck dip.
Days 81-127 (me) More energy but duldrums increase. Anxiety, some
depression, loss of a friend(dip),and the damn dip dreams
that seem real. During this time brain is rewiring to
think like a real human. Might take more time to fully
recover. I understand the process. However, will take
being clean any day. I look fantastic, much better
relationship with friends/family,great confidence, etc.
I love being dip free. Will never go back to the dip.

Thanks for the replies, both gung-ho and sincere. I made a conscious decision that one last evening with my "friend" wouldn't do me any good.

We all fear the unknown but look around you... This place is full of success and folks who want to be a part of you getting there. It can be done and you can do this. Congrats on the first step!

That is great to hear man. Today is always the best day to quit. It's rough for the first few days just like Jmazzy said. It does get better though and you will feel 100000% better without nic. Just keep gum, seeds, Smokey mountain chew or anything it takes to keep that nasty dip out of your face. If you need anything just pm me or anyone on this site. Everyone on here has or is going through the same thing you are.

Excellent! Now let's post up this morning, and take nicotine off the table for the day.
You can do anything for one day.
