I am on day 7 and have yet to post anything except for roll call. At first I thought the sight was a bit hokey but the more I read the more I understand the reason for roll call and holding yourself and others accountable. Great site which I will need it going forward.

Nice work, dude. Day 7 is a helluva lot better than Day 2 in my opinion. If you're feeling the heebie-jeebies, secure all loose articles, and ride it out here for a bit. There's awesome reading at the Welcome Center. Also, the Live Chat is pretty interesting. I'm Day 24. If you need anything, hit me up.
I'm quitting with you today, all day.

Mafrey,
Welcome. Glad you're on the bus. Fasten your seatbelt and get that quit of yours into high gear. Read everything you can on this site, and post roll every damn day. Also, post messages on your intro thread as a way to keep track of how you're quit is going. It will be nice to look back on as you progress through various stages of your quit.
Also, get to know some of the guys/gals in your quit group by trading phone numbers. That may sound "hokey", but that adds another layer of accountability, and you will be amazed at how often we text each other to offer support or just shoot the shit with a fellow quitter. PM me if you have any additional questions.

This site is a bit hokey and if you didn't think so I'd be willing to bet you have an @aol.com email address. I was a slave to nicotine until I found KTC and did the things prescribed, though! Embrace it!

Exactly! I invented my own category for myself..."light dipper" because I took small dips and really I could quit anytime I wanted anyway. (I still shudder at my own stupidy and arrogance).
I thought I was different. I thought I was better. I thought I didn't need to post roll like the die hard "addicts" on this site. Quit anytime I wanted, right? I thought I would post roll until I reached the HoF just to "play by the rules here" so to speak. Because then I would be "cured" right?
Then I started reading...and reading.... I actually learned about nicotine addition from people who know...not doctors or Chantix peddlers, but real addicts...addicts who were controlling their addiction day by day. This was a miracle, because I'm not only stupid, but stubborn. Dual threat! This site got through to me. These folks were fluent in my bullshit of self-deception. And they showed me the light. And I have learned to live free ONE DAY AT A TIME.
Posting roll, paying it forward, the bad-asses on this site...THAT is what has made all the difference in my life. So, congrats on 7 days!!! Blindly follow the rules...post roll, read and repeat...and there is no stopping us.

Thanks guys. I have quit in the past on my own but it never stuck. I would go 6 months or a year and then "one dip can't hurt" right? well we all know where that leads. I plan to stick to the program.

I too am on day 7, so I feel your pain. Shoot me a PM if you want to exchange numbers or just chat.
Stay Quit brother,

We'll a couple things; we are kinda hookey, the light side helps to laugh when grown men want to cry. Second you didn't ever quit before, they were pauses. I also paused in the past two times for 3 years. I quit April 1, 2012 and have committed and won everyday since.

Thats a great idea. Fuckin talk to some one going through the same shit as you are. What do you have to lose? You know that talking to someone in your group might make you kinda accountable to that person. Say stuff like, "yeah this KTC thing is kinda weird but ya know these older fellas say that we should post roll everyday and that seems to work. Yeah maybe we should" Boom!!!! Check to see if that person posts roll the next day, the next day, the next day.............

When it gets tough, are you only focused on today? My toughest times were thinking I couldn't be quit forever, someday I would cave. If you think like that, remember staying undefeated starts with your match today. If you lose today, you wont be undefeated.
Today you can hold out and not cave. You can keep your word. Don't sweat long term. Sweat out a victory today.
WT is right. You can't control the craving but you can use tools to fight and dismiss them. The best for me was to get laughing. Watch this and relax.......
Or what was the last movie you watched where you laughed so hard your stomach hurt?
I loved nothing to lose.....

Welcome, mafrey. Glad to have you in the June group. Stick to the program. It's pretty simple. Spend as much time as you can reading what other people are going through. PM me if you want to exchange numbers or if you need anything.
