I am Ryan. I am 25 years old and have been dipping for years. I have realized when i turned 25 that i am getting older and my life is precious. I have been through a lot with brain surgeries and injuries and i know that i need to treat my body better. I want to live a long and full life with a wife and kids and achieve everything that i set out to do when i was 18 and entering college. I want to compete in the CrossFit Games and become a more healthy person. I want to quit drinking forever, quit chewing forever, and quit feeling sorry for myself and get back to the confident driven me. I feel bad every time i dip or drink. I feel like i am a loser or do not have what it takes to be a functioning healthy adult. So, in order to feel better about myself and live a long life, i vow to quit dipping once and for all. I hope to get to know my March 2014 class better in the coming days and weeks and that we all get rid of this disgusting habit and live healthier lives for ourselves and our families. If we could survive once before without dip then we most certainly can survive without in now. I wish all of you the best with this goal and all the other goals you make in your life. Lets check this one off the list and get to it. Let's get busy living my friends instead of getting busy dying. Thanks.

Ryan! Wow. What an intro! Man, you sound like a very driven and motivated quitter and individual.
I can only speak for myself, although most others seem to agree... The concept of quitting forever seems impossible. Especially at the beginning. This site is built in the concept of using your personal accountability to yourself and the brotherhood to achieve success. One day at a time. You can do anything for a day at a time. My brother decided in college to do some lame ass fraternity fundraiser where he sat in a big wash tub full of catsup for a day. Damn near ate his balls off (so he said - I think he's ballless anyway) but the point is... You can do anything for a day.
You are gonna have to be ready to fight. But you can win. I've read all kinda of things on this site. I have not seen anyone, not one person, say that they regret quitting. You can do this.
My contact number is in your inbox. Welcome aboard.

Thank you both for your kind words. I realize that this is a one day at a time thing and i need to increase my patience with this. I need to also find ways to fight stress in my life because that is my biggest trigger. Anything that has worked for you?

welcome! I am in your march group with you. You seem really motivated to quit which will carry you a long ways. Keep in mind the fact that you are an addict and to really quit you have to accept that there will never be a time in your life it is safe to take a dip again.
I am quitting with you. PM me if you need anything.

Everything is a trigger. Here is the truth though... The only thing that nicotine and tobacco do for you is ease the pain of not using nicotine. That is all. The dark side... The lying, hiding, wasted money, negative health impacts from blood pressure to cancer, fear about every mouth pain, and the simple fact that no woman finds this addiction sexy are but a few of the negatives.
How did I deal with stress? Got on this site and read a lot at the beginning. Text pm or call other members who helped me thru the initial suck days. And, I post my word first thing every morning and keep my word. That takes a lot of the stress off the table.
One day at a time. You've poisoned your brain for thousands of days. Rome wasn't built in a day!

... Where'd ya go?
