Title: New member and quitter.
Post by: Nightmare on July 16, 2013, 08:11:00 PM
I threw our my last can of snuff in the yard last Wednesday. So 7/11 was my first official day without snuff. First few days was tough at times but today (day 5) has been hell. Seems like Ive had a craving that will not go the fuck away. No matter though I will beat this.

Background: Im 28 will be 29 next month and started dipping at 15, so almost 14yrs Ive been hooked to snuff. I dipped 1-1.25 cans per day of Longhorn natural fine cut. Cope got too expensive years ago.

Im quitting cause the price went up again and gotten to expensive and dentist said my gums are receding due to the snuff. I want to have teeth when Im 40 so I have to quit. Another reason is I was a slave to the can. Could not go anywhere without my dip, at family get together I would have to sneak out to get a dip. Just tired of it.

So here I am on day 5, been tough and been eating more due to the cravings. I been using candy and gum and it helps to a point. The worst time for craving for me is in the morning after coffee and after I eat a meal.

Almost done with week 1, does it get easier on week 2? What else do I need to know or need to expect?

Congratulations on your quit, my friend.

It will suck for a while yet but keep pushing ahead; slowly the freedom will become a joy rather than a struggle and you will look back on this as the best decision you've ever made.

Read everything you can at this link: www. killthecan.org. It is important to be as informed as possible; Info is power.

You're life is worth the struggle, Nightmare!

Welcome to the site nightmare. I dig the name. Let me assure, what starts as a nightmare will soon become a dream come true. Freedom from the bondage of nicotine, ahhh, what a sweet thing. I quit 197 days ago and couldnt be happier. It was the 1000th time I "tried", but it was my only real "quit".

There is a ton of knowledge to be gained from the site, and all the support in the world. Have you started posting roll? If not, hurry up and check out the welcome center. Roll is the backbone of this site. If you have any questions send me a PM, [Inbox(1)], I sent you one. See you around quitter.

Congrats on a great choice, nightmare!!! But let me ask you this...do you want it to be easy? I mean, you're saving your own life...should that be easy? Tobacco kills. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin (so i'm told). You are earning your life back one second, one hour, one day at a time. Nobody said that it would be easy. And you shouldn't be looking for that.

Embrace the suck!!! Really take note of how shitty you feel...and REMEMBER it. Develop anger and hate towards American Tobacco, the industry that is trying to kill you...after it takes as much of your money as it can first, of course. Use this shitty feeling as motivation. It is the feeling of healing, brother. You're deep in the shit right now...and you ought to be PUMPED THAT YOU'RE THERE!!! I am...I'm actually pumped that you're going toe to toe with the Nic Bitch and winning right now.

5 days is HUGE. The chemical is out of your system. Now the mental games begin. Just focus on the only thing that matter right now...staying nic free today. Post roll and keep your word. Get through today nic free, read all you can on here, and live free. PM me if you need any encouragement. But you got this brother!!! Tell the Nic Bitch to do her worst because you can handle it. You can do it!!!

Don't worry about week two. Worry about today. Then, tomorrow...worry about that day. As far as what to expect. Rainbows and unicorns won't be appearing for awhile, I know that much.

Read this, it gives you a good idea of the process, but of course everyone is different.

Thanks alot, Im going to beat this, going back to the snuff is not a option. I pray that tomorrow is better though cause today it was really affecting my work. I do alot of electrical and working on live voltage, 1 wrong move and you are either dead missing a hand and it was tough to concentrate today.

Were all going to make it.

Its called the fog buddy and it will pass. You can do it. Doesnt matter if tomorrow is better or not, DO NOT USE. Dip will not make it better. It is not the answer to a problem, it IS the problem.

Did you figure out how to post roll yet??

Nightmare posted only once with the October 13 group and not since. But in the general discussion thread he posted that today is day 10. He was looked to have his balls coddled.

The short version of my response was to post roll first thing every day.

The long version of his response was
Quote
Thats cool, not really my thing to post roll everyday, hope that is not a problem.
I hope talking and eating "is not a problem" when you have half a jaw. If you want to prevent that, get involved here. Once you're involved it is very difficult to sneak back to your old habits without someone noticing.

As sportsfan231 says, "Stick around. Become a friend". Aside from "Quit", those are the best words I've read on KTC.

Nightmare - the price of the support you can get here is a daily promise to the members that you are not going to use nicotnie in any form for that day. You give that promise by posting roll. It's fine if you don't want to quit here, not everyone does. If you want to use the support offered on ktc post roll. If not, good luck quitting your way.

Nightmare this may seem harsh but its not, it is reality! We have seen many well intentioned addicts come and go. Without 100% commitment and dedication to your quit you will fail! When someone tries to show that their way is just as good they soon fade away and often come crawling back admitting they caved because they thought that they knew better. We don't want to see anyone fail.
