Well like all of you I am an addict. I have made the decision to quit using all forms of nicotine and so far I have made it 18 days. Like all of you I'm sure, my addiction started with simple curiosity and expanded from there.
At the age of 13 I tried my first dip. I was out on a hunting trip with some family and friends of family. Everyone was packing their cans when we left the morning lodge and I secretly took some of my uncles friends cans and put a dip in. I remember it was the greatest thing ever( except for spitting in secret). I finally felt like one of the guys. Hunting, bullshitting, and spitting dip. Well some of my uncles friends began to catch on and supported my new terrible habit and on all fishing and hunting trips they would buy me a can before we went out.
Fast forward a few years and my uncle decides he has too much joint pain to go outdoors and do anything in the mountains so my addiction died for a while. Then at the age of 15 in highschool I began chewing religiously with access to many friends who were 18 and could buy chew as well as a corner store where a particular cashier would not Id and of course I took full advantage of that.
Fast forward to October of 2015. My uncle has now passed away from esophagus cancer. I am chewing 17 hours a day ( because gutting means you can chew just about anywhere). I realize I have a problem but have no intention of fixing it because I'm almost 20 and I'm indestructible. Well one of my friends who chewed with me avidly in highschool made the decision to join the roll of January. At the time I said why would anybody willingly do that
Well finally we get to January 20th. My friend has posted his 100th day and I said to myself holy shit he actually did it( found out from a post on Facebook). So I am sitting in the shitter at work and decide fuck it I can do it. Both my father and uncle have passed away from cancer all before my 20th birthday and I'm headed in the same direction. Threw my last dip in the toilet and got a good chuckle as it landed on a turd and said wow now that I look at it they look pretty damn similar.
So now we are here. Day 19. My Broncos are playing in the Super Bowl ( from Colorado) and I'm nic free and I've probably saved about 100 bucks on the shit. Life is pretty damn good if I do say so myself. I promise to post roll with all you until the day I die! Quit on fellow quitters!

Thinking ^^^^^^^^ that should be in your signature line!
Crazy what our family does.....
We don't have to follow a path that they chose to take.
We should carry Bolt Cutters.
We should improve our road Daily.
Great job on 18 days.
I quit with you today.

Welcome to the Brotherhood Mike. It is going to be a long crazy ride but all of us in the BROTHERHOOD are behind you 100%.
Make that promise to not pick that can up ever again, you will want to, but don't give in to the Nic Bitch. She will whisper sweet nothings in your ear to get you to re-commit to her.
Post roll EDD and take it one day at a time.
Stay quit my brother.

Quick update! Meant to post on my day 50 but I was kind of busy! Life is still going great. Things are getting easier and easier. I think about it every now and again, but only to think about how far I've come and how impossible it seemed. Also keeping up with a clean diet in combination with no nic has lead me to a much healthier life style. I've lost 45 lbs since August of 2015 and I just keep finding new ways to improve myself and my health. Life is good!
