Title: New Quitter Here
Post by: CAD on December 27, 2017, 05:45:00 PM
Hello All.

My name is Chris and I am on Day one and so far it's going good. i started dipping when I was 15 in high school. The town I grew up in all of the guys were doing it. It was just natural for us. After 14 years I'm finally wanting/trying to quit. My time in the military did not help either, I was always with someone who smoked or chewed and seemed I could never get away from it. I wanted to quit after my son was born and just didn't do it. Now 4 years later and my daughter is born. I want to do this for me and also for them. I was thinking of getting the Smokey Mountain Zero Snuff to help get over the want to have a dip in my mouth. Have any of you used that and recommend it or anything else that helps?

Hi Chris,
I'm Rob, also real new here so prolly not the best guy to ask for advice. I liked the Smokey Mountian dip, use whatever works, gum, candy, toothpicks ect. You should go to the quit groups and jump in april. 2018, Theres alot of people better equipped to give you advice than me.
Good luck dude.

Use whatever works so long as it doesn't contain nicotine (which is what you're addicted to). I think fake was great for me because it made me realize that dipping is 100% an addiction to nicotine, not the taste of dip, not the burn, not the spitting and not the having something in your mouth. The fake just sits there and will never satisfy you and make you understand that you just want nicotine.

Do what works. Post roll, keep your word and come here and read everything on the site. It'll be funny, educational and most importantly, keep your mind off the brutal withdrawals to come. Fight through. It's so worth it on the ther side for you. Your family will benefit, but this has to be totally for you.

Can you get away from it? No.

Can you learn to look away when other people use that shit? Yes.

Can you learn to hate it, so that you will actually feel sorry for others who use it? Yes.

Anything you use to help quit tobacco/nicotine is fine. Just don't dip for today. Post a promise to people who are going through the same things you are, Every morning right away. And keep your word. Then do it again the next day.

Go here for your new life --- April 2018 pre- HOF group (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30424041/5/?x=90#new)

Welcome CAD. Glad to have you here! You can do whatever you want as long as it doesn't contain nicotine. I didn't you the fake stuff until after 100 days of quitting. I wanted to stop the whole idea of having to have something in my face the whole time. Now I use either Teaza or Grinds if I'm driving long distances or need to stay up late for work. To each his own. Like I said, whatever you have to do to keep the nicotine out of your body.

Pureblood has already introduced himself. He's on day 2 of quitting and posting in the April 2018 HOF group. I suggest you get over to that group and post roll. Make your promise to Pureblood and the other new quitters that you will not use nicotine today. Keep that promise and do it again tomorrow.

Once again, welcome and proud to be quit with you today!!!
