Title: Intro - Taco
Post by: TACOwasTaken on July 31, 2018, 11:42:00 AM
I started at about 15 when a group of friends found a can in one of their older brothers room, Copenhagen Straight pouches. At the time it was just forbidden fruit, didnÂ’t pick it back up for a couple years.

At 17 is when it really started. Everyone on the baseball team packed on the bus rides or when they werenÂ’t starting. Things only got worse when I went to college. I was a freshman on the baseball team so I traveled, but never played. The workers at 711 new me by name and were already pulling logs down when I walked in.

I tried cold turkey once in 2011 and made it 3 months before a buddy came back from Boot Camp. He offered me one and me like an idiot thought I was no longer addicted and it would be rude not to. Been consistently on the stuff for the last 7 years. Health wise IÂ’m fine at 26, but after reading about some of the guys who have been on it since IÂ’ve been alive, IÂ’ve decided to take their advice.

Thank you to those of you who reached out to me. I know the mind of an addict always makes excuses for their actions, so I wonÂ’t try to justify an excuse why I canÂ’t quit today. I can make my pre promise that tommorow I will be quit.

"Pre-promise"? Man - don't promise for tomorrow. Promise for TODAY.

I quit "tomorrow" about ten thousand times before I found this place and learned to quit for TODAY.

Quit NOW. Take whatever you have, dump it in the toilet and piss on it.

Then get on over to the November '18 (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30657749/) quit group and post roll.

Quit today. Make that promise today. Keep that promise today. Get to know your fellow quitters today.

It's one of the best decisions you'll ever make.

Big win. Now just buckle up for the ride of the first few days. Stay close to your November group and ask for help from Vets on the site. Remember, don't worry about how you're going to stay quit forever. Just worry about the 24 hours after posting the promise to the people here that support you. Then get up the next day and start again.

30 days out from this POS thinking he could sneak in one or two more dips. A guy who couldnÂ’t let go of something that was killing him physically and mentally. IÂ’ve probably reread my intro 10 times since I started trying to remember what I was thinking beyond the fear of failing yet again. ThatÂ’s a sneaky trick your mind plays that itÂ’s better to keep chewing than try and fail. Imagining the rest of my life without tobacco when all I needed was to quit for today. Once you get that one day mentally into your head failure doesnÂ’t cross your mind.
