Hello everybody,
My name is Alex and im 18 years old. Ive been chewing since i was 16 and i feel like i am badly addicted, having 4 to 8 chews a day. I started because all of my friends did it and smoked cigarettes and i decided i will never smoke so i thought i would start chewing. I really wish i hadnt and i am ready to start the path to quitting. Ive tried quitting a couple of times now and havent found a good way. I just have a hard time starting the quitting process.
My intentions for these forums and this community is to share my store and perhaps discover some other ways that have worked for others that may work for myself.
Thank you very much for reading and blessings,
Alex

The only way to quit.....Don't put it in yer mouth.
After you've done that, go join your quit group and promise them each morning that you won't dip that day.
From there, read all this site has to offer, from HOF speeches to Words of Wisdom, to your quit groups drama, to non-quit realted Wildcard.
Meet some people, make some friends.
Congrats on being smarter than most of us and realizing that this is a problem at 18 instead of 32 or 45 or 60 or when it kills you.
Welcome.

Alex,
Welcome to KTC! This site can help you save your life. Follow the advice of the veterans and newbies alike. Go post roll call in your future HOF month. Do this everyday. Don't put that shit in your mouth ever again. Get phone numbers and text or call if you are having a crave and you feel like you're going to go nuts. Believe me, we have all been there. Climb aboard!
And, like redyota wrote, be thankful that you're realizing this now and not 25 or 30 years and five fallen-out teeth (or worse) later.

i wish i had stopped when i was 2 yrs in.
funny thing, i never hear anyone that's quit say "boy, i sure wish i had dipped for a couple more years before i quit." you only hear people say "why the fuck did i wait so long."
anyway, alex, you're on the cusp of making a great decision. there isn't a secret to quitting, and here at KTC we use one method and one method only: cold turkey. any other method simply prolongs the misery of nicotine withdraw. that's simply fact.
anyone can quit cold turkey. everyone has it in them. KTC helps by offering support from people who know what it's like to quit. that last part is huge. whenever my wife would get on me about quitting, i'd always grumble to myself that she didn't know how hard it was... was it was like. so, as an addict, i continued to used as i believed my own self-made delusion.
it's different here. we're all addicts and we know it. we have learned to recognize addict speak in ourselves and in others, and we will not let you slide when you spout off on some addict speak bullshit.
what we do here works. for those that truly buy-in, it words perfectly. 100%. no failure. those that quit but cave didn't use the tools and support that the site provides. i have 16 phone numbers to call if i'm feeling weak. i know i can call them each at any time.
we post roll and promise not to use nicotine that day.
we honor our promise.
we repeat that promise the next day.
it's that simple. i've posted roll for 215 days. and i'm going to post roll for as long as i'm alive. buy in... drink the kool aid. it works.

CONGRATS on a great choice. You're a pretty sharp guy to realize how stupid you were...I started at about 16 too, but it took me 20 years.
Look, you have made a GREAT choice. Now, all you have to do is keep your word. You took the first step, let us help you with the rest.
Post roll, keep your word, and repeat. Good job, brother.
