Hi B-ron, welcome. This is the right place for quitting dip. Read in the "Welcome Center" (the pinkish tab above) Learn how to post roll and more importantly, WHY we post roll EVERYDAY. You will be in May 2014 Quit Group as that is the month you will hit the 100 day quit mark. Ask questions, make friends. Read, Read , Read. There is a lot of stuff here and a lot of great people to stand by your side on this awesome journey. There are some really strong quitters emerging from the May Quitters. Here's to you being one of them!

Welcome in bro.
I'm just going to attack one word in your intro. "Attempt".
We don't "attempt" here. We... Do. If you're serious... If you're ready... This is it man. You're done. Make sure you've been to the Welcome Center link and devoured everything there is to read about posting roll with a quit group and why/how we do it. Welcome to freedom dude. It's pretty damn cool. Shoot me a message if you have any questions or if you need ANYTHING. Rock on...

Brian,
First of all welcome to KTC. I am glad that you found us. There is no trying or attempting here, just doing! The best thing you can do is want it and want it really bad. Remember to take things one day at a time, never ever focus on tomorrow or next week, fight hourly at first, then daily. My addiction started at the age of 12, I too am 36 and I quit cold fucking turkey with no luck, but with will I am at day 205 today.

Urges and cravings will come and go, rage may become a factor as well. You may notice that your body will change some good, some bad. Read up on that stuff here, those who have walked the trail before you can help guide you through things when you need it.

Now learn how to post roll How to Post Roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50).

Then join your quit group Pre HOF May 2014 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=9408), this will be the month at which you will hit your HOF or 100 days of quit, as long as you have the balls to quit.

Next read the HOF speeches and stories here, learn from the veterans. Look in the site for all kind of information like Spousal Support (http://www.killthecan.org/community/spousal-support/) or What to Expect (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/)

Find an alternative to dip Smokeless Alternatives (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/smokeless-alternatives/). Find other alternatives (candies, seeds, peanuts, beef jerky...). Also drink lots of water. Bump your intake so you have to stop at every urinal in order to not piss your pants.

Another thing I do is when I get a craving, I start doing push-ups until the crave goes away.

Finally, get to know people, exchange phone numbers, make friends and quit. I also have a beautiful wife and kids, which only pisses me off when I look at the photo albums and see a chunk of nasty weed in my mouth in all of them.

P.S. all of the above underlined words are links to different areas on KTC that should help you get started.

Sincerely,
Pinched

Thank you guys for the warm welcome!!! I should not have used attempt becuase like you guys said as of today I am done with dip no question! it has been 7 hours since my last dip( sadly the only time i wouldnt have had dip in my mouth would be for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and I seem to be having different effect then most?

my affects are: I quit about 3 weeks ago and made it three days. I keep reading about this foggy feeling but for me during those 3 days I felt a huge energy boost! dont get me wrong I had talks in my head telling my self that i need a dip but other then that i felt refeshed and alert/more energy. Is this normal when Quiting?

also if some one can explain the Roll Call set up to me that would be awesome?

after reading how to set it up im still not sure how to do it?

thank you!

edit: I think I figured out the roll call!?

Brian, even with the site you have about a 60% chance of failing. Maybe higher since your young. Beat the odds by posting roll early every day and have your plan for when the bitch is calling your name, and she will! Get numbers from your quit group and be as vigilant as you were at having your can.

its been 26+ hours since my last chew! sitting at my desk at work I have opend my desk 3 times looking to grab my can to find that there is no can, then a split second of panic then a few minuts of cravings. once I pop some seeds in things are good! the really annoying thing so far is my mind feels like it been racing nonstop and i have no idea about what? lol

The weirdest thing for me was the mind racing but time standing still! My second day I woke up at 6am, watched TV for what I thought had to be at least 10 hours, jaws locked and white knuckled. Walked up stairs to get some lunch and noticed the clock......

6:47am

It gets better Brian, hang in there!

It will change, doesn't mean it will instantly get better, though. Just keep your head down and collect days!

You still got bored when you dipped. Its just that you had something to do (dip) when you were bored. Go find something else to do :P If that makes sense. I know that when I get bored I need to become un-bored or I will start fixating on bad things. Keep going, you are on a righteous path!

Get up and get moving. Exercise, pound water, pull on your pecker, whatever it freaking takes. Keep busy or sleep. Sometimes I would just get in the shower to have something to do. You know you missed a few places this morning, go clean them. Shave again. These are just ideas because caving isn't an option.

Here is something to do. Get some numbers from your quit group and start a multiple text messaging system between all of you. We have had a blast with that. You be the point man.

Welcome to what is commonly referred to as "the suck". You are going through a completely normal phase of quitting. The good news is that it will pass; the bad news is that it will come back, and go away, and come back, and well you get the idea.

Great advise given already, but I always found "the suck" would disappear for me once I realized it for what it was, and embraced it. "the suck" means you are winning and your brain is rewiring itself. The poison hijacks our pleasure center; messes with our dopamine and endorphins. Somewhere on KTC it is explained scientifically if you want to check it our, but basically we all messed up our natural brain chemistry when we were using, and it takes time for our brains to heal.

So feeling like you are missing something, apathy, and lack of excitement are all normal and temporary side effects. Get a good workout in, read a book, get a new hobby, whatever you need to do, but most of all embrace the fact that you are winning, and no matter what hell you need to go through you are quit!

thank you guys for the pick me up! I honestly have not been on the forum in the last 2 days other then posting roll( inventory at work this week 12 hour days plus 2 hour commute a little tired lol) after I posted about feeling bored I decided to read some of the HOF post and that gave me all of my motivation back along with your guys advice of course 'archer'

I for sure need to start filling in my free time with thing to distract me for that horrible feeling I have been dealing with the last few days.... I think I might actually start my work out and meal plan like I have beem wanting to do for a while now!

its amazing how this stupid habbit can mess with your head and make you actually think you need it to not be bored 'Crazy'
