Hello all,
My name is Nick, and I actually quit 6 days ago but I need some help. So I came across the KTC forums and well here I am. I guess a little about myself. I'm a fireman and have been chewing Copenhagen Mint and Wintergreen long cut for about 7 years, basically since I started the fire service. It really helped calm my nerves after a bad call and would keep my mind focused on something else while getting that quick buzz to cheer me up. It's gotten to the point now where I can't go a half hour without a dip. I'll hurry up and slam food just so I can put a dip in, stay up after my wife has gone to bed just so I can have that last dip, and for the last 2 months I've actually been hiding it from her, she thinks I quit a couple months ago but in reality I just clean up my tracks so she doesn't notice. I'm tired of the hassle, the lies, and basically being a slave for the can. What makes it hard is no one in my family or my friends use tobacco products so they don't get it. I love my morning coffee and having a dip right after, I love the burn from a nice long dip and I love just having something in my lip. But 6 days ago I decided it's time. Weighing risk versus gain, id rather live a long healthy life than get cancer and have my jaw cut off, or let alone die. Anyways, sorry for rambling on but I just wanted to say hi, thanks, and any inspiration or support would be extremely helpful and appreciated! Thanks

You have come to the right spot. If you are ready to quit, this place will give you the tools you need to make it happen. You are going to want to read over the info in the welcome center. This will tell you what is expected and how to post roll. Take this seriously. It is what will help you make this your last quit. You will also want to get over to the September group and post roll. You will do this first thing in the morning, every day, no exceptions. This is your daily promise not to use.

Thanks brothers! Just purchased some triumph 'zero' nicotine chew. We shall see how it does! Been using smokey mountain but it's too, sugary? Anyways, thanks!

There's an EMT in my group and we have over 820 days quit. I've done the First Responder/Firedighter thing as well and I know what you thought the dip helped you with.
You can be a quitter with honor if you want it bad enough.

Fake is fine here - just don't use any nicotine. That includes cigars. Glad to have you here! B)B

Nick, Welcome and great decision you have made to quit. I am a relatively new quitter, just about ten days ahead of you and gotta say that this place can help you quit and stay quit. Just look around at all the vets that are here and their stories of strong long term quits. Nicotine free is the only way, no subs. Dive in here, post roll early every day, dig into others accounts of their quits with lots of reading. It all help by giving you tools to help with your quit and also with the retraining your brain with what to do instead of chewing. Proud to be quit with you!
