Hello, I have been dipping and smoking 31 years. I've quit smoking twice 7 weeks both times but continued to chew. It was easy to quit smoking as long I as was still chewing. I really want to kick both habits. I ordered Hooch tobacco free chew yesterday hoping that will help with the habit. Then I have to fight the addiction. I'm planning on quitting on 6.24.18. I can use all the help I can get. Thanks

Welcome.
Forget the 24th. Quit today. Here (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30602339/117/) is a link to your Quit Group. There are instructions for posting roll at the top of the page. Posting roll is your promise to not use nicotine for the rest of the day. Post roll early in the day, and repeat tomorrow, and every tomorrow afterward.
Honestly, putting it off til Sunday gives you five days to lose steam, and make up excuses to keep dipping and smoking. Quit now, post roll, keep your promise. Get to know the guys in your quit group, and swap some digits. Reach out when you need help, be willing to support when one of your brothers or sisters needs help.
In case I haven't made it perfectly clear, quit now. Flush all tobacco down the toilet. Rinse your can, and throw it away.

Spartrick, are you planning to take some time off of work. It might help to start your quit when you are on vacation without the pressure of work.
I was catatonic for my first 4 days. All I did was eat and sleep.
It hits us all differently but it is great if you can reduce some of the pressure.
Once you decide to quit you must remain committed. Once you stop the conversation in your head about just one more.... then the rest is much easier.
We all get here different ways. We have all wanted to quit a million times.
Here is your chance.
When you are ready, you will know it.

Okay, you're in prison, due to get out on 6/24. Someone says you can leave on 6/21. You say "No, my scheduled date is 6/24, I'm happy to stay until that date."
I say "What the fock is wrong with you?!!!?" Why do you want to stay in the prison of your addiction when you can get out now?

spatrick - Why not start your quit today?
You got some grief here because all of us have "planned" to quit hundreds of times before we found KTC. We realize that a planned quit date always results in a postponed quit date and the cycle continues. Our brains have been impacted by an addiction to nicotine. It strongly afffects our ability to made firm decsions about quittting. I could never win that fight, until I found support 1378 days ago from the people just like me here at KillTheCan.
You've been a slave for 31 years spatrick. No magic will free you. But you can do it. Come back and quit.
