Title: sting_em HOF
Post by: sting_em on February 08, 2018, 01:38:00 AM
Today is my 100th day. After years of smoking cigarettes, cigars, and dipping snus, I am officially off nicotine. I have been in the position before.

After making it thru my teen years, IÂ’m in my 20Â’s and waiting tables. Sitting around after work and drinking a beer. I bum a cigarette off a co-worker. Next day another cigarette. After weeks, I buy a pack because I feel guilty. Next thing you know, I am smoking a pack a day. After 5+ years of smoking I quit cold turkey.

Several years pass and I innocently started smoking cigars. I was thinking “I just puff on these.” Before long, I am at the store buying small cigars and inhaling them like cigarettes.

After 5+ years of cigars stranglehold on my life, I quit those. I thought my days of nicotine were over.

Several years later, I started dipping snus while playing golf with friend. Next thing you know, I am at the store buying cans of this and always having in my mouth while awake.

Now I am pushing 50, and thankfully I am done with this poison for the rest of my life. This last quit was too hard and donÂ’t want to go thru the withdrawal symptoms again. My advice to future quitters:

1) If you are thinking about quitting, you are ready. There is never a good time. Don't spend the next 20 to 30 years doing this.
2) At the minimum, look at the website. Other people are going thru the same thing.
3) Quit cold turkey. Only way I was successful three times.
4) There will be days that piss you off, but the symptoms will pass.
5) DonÂ’t ever touch any form of the shit again. It's not worth it.

Good Luck!

If you really knew how to quit you wouldn't wish anyone luck. There is no luck in quitting.

I know you mean well, but we really don't need a non-member telling his story, this is a daily promise website, and quitters are expected to post roll daily.

At a minimum, look at the website. Shit may seep in through reading but the experience of quitting is much more memorable.

I'm glad you're quit man. Come join us. Anybody can stop for a short period of time but we take the extra time to add others to our quits to keep us honest in it. I've lied to myself many times in the past about my desires. These guys here tell ya the truth when I think "I have this" and that simply "not touching those things again" is not a good mantra.

A quit is an action. It is not a decision. A quit is made up of many decisions.

Come join us. 100 days is fucking awesome.

Hey Sting_Em,

100 days is awesome. Keep it up.

In here, though, there is only ONE QUIT. Anything before that is just taking a break dude. It is accountability to ourselves and the other members of this forum that help to keep us quit.

ODAAT (One Day At A Time) id the moto around here.

You should join the February 2018 HOF group and post your promise EVERYDAY to stay quit from nicotine in any form.

We are glad to have you if you would like to join us, but if not, thanks for your words and have a great life. Stay Quit.
