Ive chewed on and off for 20 years. Have been attempting to quit for the last 3 with some success but i keep falling back into that rut.. Any suggestions

Yes, I have a suggestion for you. Go to the pink "Welcome Center" button. Read everything. Learn why we post roll. Learn how to do it. Then do it.
Admit, like I had to, that we can't do it on our own, and join us here. Be a student of how to quit the KTC way. It works.

I have a suggestion for you, also. Research addiction. Then research nicotine. Then search for cancer scares here on KTC (Mine is posted in my Intro thread...) Google oral and throat cancer pics. Then, ask yourself if you really love chewing, or if you were merely verbalizing an addiction-based thought.
Glad you are here. There are many guys and girls here that will selflessly help you at every turn. Listen to the veterans. They have walked the walk and know the "path to quit", and just as importantly know the "pathS to avoid". Note the difference between the singular and plural use of "path" in the preceding sentence. Give that some thought.
You made a great step forward by joining and posting your Intro thread!! A 10,000 mile journey begins with a single step. You've already made the first step. Now, put the other foot down and step again. Repeat. Keep stepping forward. Welcome! 'oh yeah'

What exactly do you love about it? The way it smells,, smells like skunk poop. The way it tastes,, tastes like death. The way it looks,, looks like dirt in a can. Your addicted to one of the most addictive drugs known to man. Your reward pathways have been high jacked and have made you believe a lie. There is nothing to love about the poison. Welcome to the quit brother.

You've never had success, or you wouldn't be here.
Start reading and learning about your addiction. Learn why your addicted and feel the way you do. Learning this enemy will help you.
Go to welcome center (top left) and read how and why we post roll. Pay particular attention to why. Posting roll and making a promise daily is the backbone of this site and has helped 1000's quit for good. If I can do it you can. One day at a time and you can have back a lot of what the poison has stolen. Never again for any reason and you can keep it.

You only fooled yourself into thinking you love chewing. I thought the same thing, but you will realize, that you have trained yourself to equate chewing with satisfaction, but that only happened because you have an addiction, and the chew satisfied the withdrawal symptoms. THese realizations will come to you, along with your freedom. Just stick with the plan. Post roll promising you will stay quit for today. Keep your word. Repeat.

Welcome to KTC go to the welcome center like Slim said. First of all you/we need to fine tune your verbiage. You have never quit before you had a stoppage. You didn't go into a rut you caved pure and simple. You have to admit you are an addict just like everyone here on this site. The difference between us and crack whores is the legality of the substance you like me are addicted to nicotine. That was probably one of the hardest parts of the quit is acceptance that I am an addict... I wasn't a was I am an addict and always will be there is no just having one.
Posting roll is the cornerstone of what we do here. It holds us accountable to ourselves as well to others. We give our word each day that we will not use nicotine in any form for today only. Wake tomorrow and repeat.
Understand that this is a NICOTINE free site. DO NOT DO NOT post roll while using.

I would like to thank all of you for your support, wisdom, and knowledge. Im here to stay and continue this life long process. At some point i hope to support others in their need to quit, but for now its going to take all i have for awhile.

Believe it or not in the first couple weeks I found a good way to fight was 2 tylonol and a bottle of chocolot milk. Also stock up on hard candy sunflower seeds fade dip (I liked the jakes myself) and gum. These will be your tool kit to quit. Lastly get #s texting and talking to other members who have been down this road will keep you quit. You can do it! I'm quit with ya!

Congrats on your decision! Looks like you've got lots of good advice already. You will make it to the point where you can support others, it'll probably come about more naturally quicker than you might think just now, but yes for now this will take all you have. Get this done one day at a time you'll find yourself becoming that support person you hope. But for now take use the support given, you'll be able to pay it forward later for sure.

Holy cow, for all new members check out the cancer pictures on this site. They are pretty graphic. Each time I think about chewing, take a look at some of those pictures, the urge will go away. Wow!

cpavelek, great choice to quit, and looks like you figured out roll call. The day that you flushed your tins and stopped using nicotine in any form is your day 1. Sounds like you found the welcome center which is good; now keep reading and build your quit toolbox. Drink lots of water, keep nic free alternatives (gum, seeds, fake dip, etc.) on hand at all times. I printed out a copy of the contract to quit and wrapped my cash and c/d cards in it for the first few weeks. Read everything here, and start building some connections here especially with your quit group. PM me if you need my # or have any questions.

At least one of those dudes in those pictures is a member here. Great guy and a badass quitter. When I figured that out, the threat became even more real. Damn mad at myself for all the risks I took.

Cancer and cancer scares are very humbling. Glad to see you researching that. There is a thread I found before in the wildcard section about cancer scares. See if you can find that thread. Outdoor Texan posted in it. He is the one with the pics on here.
There are other benefits of quitting besides decreasing cancer risks. You are in the right place. Keep on keeping on!! Thankful to be quit with you.

It would appear that cpavelek did slip through the cracks and has not answered for his cave. He posted a Day 1 on Oct 10 and Day 2 on Oct 11, and then slipped right back on Oct 22 with another Day 1.
So whats the story here cpavelek? Jbradley called you out on Oct 22 and you did not respond. You obviously caved and returned, you owe your group an explanation.
It sure would be nice to see one of you guys that have caved and returned show some integrity in this group.

WTF I don't get it. If you cave and come back with a retread day 1 you already let everyone know you caved, so what's the problem with answering the questions? If you don't have the answers you need to get them quick or another cave is likely...

I see you posted roll today, still haven't explained your cave. Missed two days of roll call...... why is it so difficult for guys to follow a very well laid out gameplan!
A plan that has worked for Hundreds? or Thousands? of guys that have stayed quit long term. I shouldn't probably get so worked up about it right? I mean oral cancer doesn't always kill you right? You might just end up with half your face.

1. What happened? I chewed 2x within a 30day period.
2. How did it happen? Under stress due to work.
3. What are you going to do differently this time? Go for walks throughout the day, I talked with my employer about this and they are on board. They have a no smoking policy and did not realize that several people at work chew as well. My employer applauded me for starting the quit process but did not realize that taking small walks helps employees reduce stress.
So here we are Cpave, right back on Day 1. Your 1 and 2 answers are bullshit, 3 is a good start but that only covers you at work. People including myself have reached out to you, given their phone numbers. Have you tried reaching out to any of us yet? Are you serious about quitting?
You'll need to get in here and take a big gulp of the KTC Kool-Aid if you have truly made the decision that you want to QUIT, not just take another few days off.

Looking at his reply, it looks like he doesn't really feel any urgency. It actually looks like he is 'pussyfootin' on a trek that demands a march starting at dependence and ending at quit.

Cpave....why I continue to 'bang head' with you is a mystery. Maybe I see myself a little, the fear of really jumping in and being quit. You've been off and on here with multiple day 1's for awhile now. I have personally reached out via PM and your intro here. Guys in March '14 are now pushing you for answers. If you are not going to be involved other than sliding on here to post roll and not even keeping your word.... I mean this is round 3 by my count.... why continue to come back?
Seriously, tell me to fuck off or something? I still don't expect to see any testicular fortitude here......but you never know.

There is no rejoining a group. You left and failed now you have to answer these 3 questions to both your old group and your new group to possibly gain forgiveness and admittance to a new group. That is if they will have you in their group. I suggest that you take a good long hard look at the questions and take a lot of time answering them. I don't want any clique answers in this. It better be heartfelt and make people think you are here for the long haul. We don't cave at KTC so this is your only shot at re-admittance and even then I am feeling really nice today.

Answer the three questions! if you threw out your stash this morning so you have quit. I read on FMB's into that you threw it out this morning. If your not dipping anymore there is not time better than the now. But you need to answer these questions so we can all learn and you can stare it in the face and learn. Lets go - get out of slavery

You can start with a new group, but yes you need to answer those, and then be committed to this, or why waste your time. Are you in or out? You have to follow this program or it's not going to work for you. So, ask yourself if you are willing to follow the guidelines. Post roll? form a cave plan? You have to commit full-time, which by the way isn't very difficult to do, but still requires your attention and dedication. If you can't stay with this program maybe consider another program.

If you want to quit, do some reading like you give a crap and figure out which group you will be in now and go post roll call. Then explain to your new group and your old group why this time will be different for you and why they should invest time and effort in you.

Hey man, there is only one person that can make you quit and keep you quit and that is YOU. You have to want this, you have to earn it, you have to make the decisions every day to keep that shit out of your mouth.
I hope the doctor gives you a clean bill of health. It's like a second chance. Don't fuck it up by thinking you can keep getting away with putting poison in your lip.
Quit while the quitting is good because when it's too late, well, it's too late. There's no restart button or do over. Quitting sucks at times but it's nothing compared to the alternative.

He posts a request for help in a new intro thread, and then leaves, probably for months before he'll come back here again, open ANOTHER fucking intro with a request for help, which is going to waste another 45 fucking minutes of my life trying to track THIS fuckin intro down, so I can merge it...again...
...then he'll disappear for another 4 months...
