Title: Introduction-fashionably late
Post by: RTR on May 17, 2011, 04:56:00 PM
I am still learning my way around the site, so please excuse the fact that I have not posted an introduction until now. Day 42 and things could not be any better. I was a slave for 20 years. I started with Hawken then Skoal (both mint and longcut natural). After Skoal, I started using Copenhagen, then Copenhagen longcut, however. A few years ago, when gas hit $4.00 per gallon, I quit Copenhagen, but not to be deterred, I started using Grizzly long cut natural. Amazingly, I could buy two and sometimes three cans of Grizzly for the price of one can of Copenhagen. During this span of 20 years my use increased to two and sometimes two and a half cans per day. I was not spending time with my wife so I could feed my addiction. I also noticed that my two-year-old son was mimicking me, that is, he would walk around the house pretending to spit. The time to quit was now! However, I could not do this on my own and I needed help!
Months ago, a coworker sent me an email with our website address. I did not delete the email, but saved it. Could this have been my subconscious speaking to me? More than likely, yes, after having two dreams in which people I know were standing over me and looking down on me as if I were in a hospital bed or worse, a casket! I made the decision to quit and I am now at day 42. The website and the quitters and support in chat have made my quit work. Not to mention the exchange of phone numbers. To everyone in chat and to those I have spoken to over the phone, thank you for giving me a new beginning and for saving my life!
