Title: Quitting after 2 and a half years, for good.
Post by: Kiltyascharged on November 13, 2016, 09:28:00 AM
Hi all! This is a wonderful resource for quitters and has helped me greatly in the first few days of my quit. I grew up on farms and ranches around people who dipped so I picked up the disgusting habit and was two cans of Copenhagen a week for around two and a half years. I tried to quit by the time I turned 18 because that meant it would be easier for me to get it, but unfortunately that was in July and I didn't quite until November, but the important part is that I am off the stuff for good this time. I threw all my old cans out, I unliked dip pages on Facebook and unsubscribed on YouTube, and most importantly I came clean with myself, no more "last cans" and dates of quitting that never materialized, and with my parents. It was hard telling them I'd quit when I was still dipping, and they hated the fact that I dipped from the start. It has gone well and I have been clean for 11 days so far. I quit cold turkey but I think today I might try some of the Smokey Mountain dip because of the cravings I've had the last few days. I think it might help and curb my cravings. To whoever reads this, thank you for quitting. We will get through this process together and be more healthy and strong than we were when we were slaves to the can.

Good job buddy! The smokey mountain really helps me a lot. It kind of takes the place in your lip and helps to calm me down when I'm stressing. Today is a week quit for me and I promised myself that if I could make it a week then I would walk away from the poison and never look back. I was a can a day for 24 years and it really felt like a little piece of me had died....that I had lost my best friend....etc....then the more I thought about how I ignorant and desperate I sounded it made me wanna quit even more.

Here's a tip that has helped me a long the way. When your mind starts trying to tell you lies and confuse you and all that. Say it all out loud so that you can hear it with your own ears instead of only hearing it in your head....then you can really hear how fuckin stupid and desperate you sound. It helped me to not fall victim to the mind games and even consider looking back.

I know it's cliche but I promise you, if I can quit , anybody can. It got to the point where I really didn't even need to spit....I could eat that shit! Stay strong and let me know if you need anything.!!

Welcome! Get into your HOF class and post roll, your sacred promise to your brothers and supporters. 11 days is huge, congrat's on staying clean that long but nic is sneaky and the games are going to get more and more intense. It's good to have your promise posted and a few brothers in your pocket to fight back with. Dear nic, we hate you with everything we have.

Kilty..

You are not using this place as designed/intended. Not meaning to be disrespectful, but posting an intro is just barely scratching the surface. Jump in with both feet, find your quit group, and begin knitting your own personal web of accountability. THAT is how quits here are made....

What he said ^^^^^! It's so much easier quitting with others. What makes you can do it by yourself this time? It's not any easier by yourself than it was all the others! It takes 2 minutes a day to have a huge network of quit brothers and sisters that are going thru exactly what you are and what you will be going thru. It doesn't pay trying to do this alone! For petes sake it's free

Quitting alone sucks and quite frankly never worked for me. Let us help you save your life.

Didn't see you on roll yet. Roll is the essential part of a solid quit. You have a lot of great quitters giving you advice. It all starts with a roll post.
