Title: Support Welcomed
Post by: XpeachwolfX on September 25, 2014, 01:21:00 AM
Went from Ohio to Kentucky for college and brought back a degree and a nasty habit.

Have spent 7 of my 28 years a slave to Peach Timberwolf... Started out something silly and small in the dorm and expanded into various parts of my life - lunch break, driving time, chilling time, waking up, going to bed. It kept carving out it's space in my life. I felt like I was chewing all day but at my peak I was putting down 1+ can a day.

The toughest part of quitting is the association of the habit... I'm playing softball so I should have a dip in... I'm playing video games so i should have dip in... That stuff just feels weird without. I snack on some seeds but I consider myself on a cold turkey quit. My body definitely knows I'm without but the physical withdrawal isn't too much to overcome. The tough part is the lifestyle associations. I should have a fatty in right now since I'm on the computer but I don't.

Bc I'm a quit. Can only claim 48 hours, but it has been in the works and I'm fucking done, for reals. Thanks for this resource - big source of strength for me through this

You've come to the right place. Using this forum is fairly simple. Since you are 48 hours quit find your quit group and post to roll call immediately. Roll call is a pledge not to use any nicotine containing products over the next 24 hours. Roll call is a daily occurrence and is the hallmark of KTC. It works, so just do it. If you feel a cave coming on, PM any of us and we can even trade phone numbers. Yes, it's that important and yes we do care that much.

Welcome Peach fuzz! Check out the Welcome Center (http://forum.killthecan.org/forum/55560/) to learn how and why we post roll, then find your group. If you quit on the 23rd, you'll reach 100 days quit in December (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/10503924/63/?x=90#new). Get to know these folks and find a way to post or text your promise each day. That's the only rule. Take a look around and read everything you can. Consider fake chew, tooth picks or sugarless gum in addition to the seeds to curb the oral fixation. Try and get plenty of exercise and stay hydrated to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms. When or if things get rough, there's usually someone in the Chat room (http://chat.killthecan.org/) who knows what you're going through... You'll find a ton of support here but freedom isn't really free, you gotta do your part. Congrats on taking control! Shout out here or send a message if you have any questions.

Xpeach. Congrats brother.
I'm also 28, dipped on and off for 3-4 years. And as a ninja dipper, it was pouches at that.
I also considered it an associative habit- video games, long drives, after workouts. Faking a ride to the gas station to fill up the car so my wife wouldn't find out. It was a ritual. But it was also a chemical addiction, which is something I learned by virtue of posting on this site.

I remember one day going on a rant about chemtrails with three pouches in my mouth. At some point I realized, Wow, here I am talking about a conspiracy to chemically alter the American population- meanwhile I'm sitting here actively engaged in a process that could someday cost me a part of my face and/or life. That moment of clarity was all I needed.

I'm all about personal responsibility, individual freedom, and even the legality of dip. But personal responsibility is admitting we've made a huge mistake by allowing our better senses to fall by the wayside and become addicted. And we are equally free to say Fuck You big tobacco.

I had a bitch of a time posting roll at first because I was over-thinking it. I slowed down, printed the directions, posted roll, and haven't looked back since. I've even found that posting roll from my Iphone or Ipad is much easier than on a PC. Just beware of the problems caused by small screen/buttons and big fingers. If you still have trouble, let us know and we will attempt to walk you through the process. I'm proud to quit with you my friend.

Peachy, it looks like you almost got there but maybe got "bumped". Bumping is the phenomena by which two folks post at the same time and one then "bumps" the other completely out of the interwebs. Some folks take it personally, you shouldn't. It happens a lot. It's good practice to check back and make sure your promise is there. If it isn't, just add it. Likewise, if you bump someone else, you can edit your post, copy and add the other person's line. Try to highlight everything in the lower box before copying and cutting. Also, make sure you quote the newest post, otherwise you could bump a whole bunch a quitters.

There's a practice thread HERE (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1003303/12/?x=90#new). --- click

The only thing better than posting roll yesterday and being quit is posting roll today and being quit. Let's quit together today.
