Hi. My name is Jeffrey Williams. I'm 48 years old. Married, and live in Florence, AL. My wife and I have children that are grown and we have just recently (2 years) became foster parents for two beautiful twin girls.

I have always had nicotine as a part of my life. At the age of 6 - stealing cigs from my parents. though didn't really develop a nicotine habit until age 16.. I remember smoking a cig and being dizzy and then doing it all over again.

By the time I reached 25 years old I was coughing up a lung in the mornings and couldn't make it up a flight of stairs without being short of breath. All of my friends dipped.. so I started dipping.. What smokers don't know.. Dip is a lot more powerful. Even thought I smoked, My first dip.. dizzy and sick all over again..

I smoked and dipped for about a year or two. But quit the smokes and kept the can..

Now Here I am. 48 years old.. Exercise.. eat a good clean diet.. I look good for my age. I just have this annoying habit that has to go..

Friday, March 28 2014 was my quit date.. I woke up walked to the shower went to put my dip in, as I did, I started to contemplate just how stupid it was to dip while I strive to eat healthy and exercise and stay off as many medicines as I possibly can. Not to mention I've been dipping for a while. It's only a numbers game and I'll eventually have some disease from dipping.

So from that Dip forward to now I have not had any nicotine.. No tabs at work. no trips to the bathroom at work for 20 min..

I was about to go crazy until I came across this site.. I am glad you are here. I'm Glad I found you.

PM me and we can swap info.. I'll help when I can and get help when I can..

Thanks

Jeff Williams

Jeff,
Welcome, you will be in the July quit group. Go to the Welcome Center tab above, and learn how to post roll in that group. Posting Roll is the one critical thing you need to do every day without fail. It is the price of admission to this club. Also, start making contacts with your fellow July quitters. Trade contact info. Also, keep posting your quit progress on your Intro thread day by day. It will be a good way to track your quit and also will help you start a dialogue with other quitters. PM me if you have any questions or need digits.

Welcome to the nut house. First things first. Nicotine is not a habit it is an addiction. You are an addict and need to understand that. All of us here are addicts. This site has saved my life. I have stopped in the past but when I signed up in KTC, I realized that I can be quit.

We do this one day at a time. We quit for today, then tomorrow we do it all over again.

I am 49 and have a similar story but yet it is different.

As I tell everyone. Quitting is gonna suck, then it won't. Hang in there. The ride is bumpy but so worth it..

Welcome Jeffery. Now read all you can. Throw away all dip, nic gum, cigars etc. Focus on one day at a time. Post roll in July group. You can do this, it is worth it.

Jeff,
First welcome and congrats on the best decision you have prolly ever made in your life.
Second read all you can on this site. Knowledge will give you power over your addiction and you need to know everything about this site, the rules, and how it works. Follow the KTC quit plan in its entirety, post roll everyday and keep your word. Don't only read the welcome center but others threads, the HOF speeches and many other areas.
Thirdly this isn't a habit you have, you are an addict and will forever be, thus we quit one day at a time (ODAAT) and never again for any reason (NAAFAR). You can do this if we can, I am on day 343 today and trust me it gets way better! Go post roll and we will quit with you.
