Title: New guy
Post by: MrCounihan on June 30, 2014, 02:12:00 PM
Hello All, My name is MrCounihan. I am 24 years old and have been dipping since i was 18 years old. I am Project manager for a very large commercial sports flooring company. I deal with a lot of stress on a day to day basis, especially in the summer our busy season. Dip has always helped me with this stress. I plan on quitting this week. What is my best method to get started? should I ween myself off or stop cold turkey?

Just stop.
Weaning will just give you an excuse that "today is just too stressful" I'll cut back tomorrow. Well... Tomorrow always breeds another tomorrow.

Now is the bet time. Destroy everything you have... Flush it, burn it, piss on it... Get rid of it.
Get yourself some seeds, hard candy, fake herbal dips... Anything to keep nicotine out of your body. And no... Nic gum, patches, or lozenges are not acceptable. We are a no nicotine site because THAT, m'man, is what you/we are addicted to!

I quit cold turkey 440 days ago after using for as long as you've been alive. If I can do this... You can do this. You need anything... Just holler. I'll help any way I can.

To begin with glad you are here. You have taken a step towards gaining your freedom.

Now let's move onto your post. The only way to quit is to put the shit down and never touch it again. Anything else is still using. Dump it and let's get on to the next step.

We all deal with plenty of stress in our life, the lie is tobacco has never help you through stress. Your mind may tell you it does but that is only to get you to use again.

Cold turkey works!

Cold turkey baby! Its the only way. Tried that weaning, and mixing real with fake like a chemist hundreds of times. Just get it over with. Its physically out of your system in about 3 days they say. Then its all just mind games. Lets go man. Now!

Whether nicotine dependency was established and/or maintained by being chewed, smoked, drank, snuffed, sprayed, swallowed, sucked, licked or patched, in the end there is only one way out - no nicotine today.

A bunch of real deal quitters have weighed in here MrCounihan, and I agree 100% with the advice given. Flush all your crap now, Start drinking water like to was going out of style, and buckle up. By the time the weekend hits you will be out of the withdrawal period and be able to enjoy the 4th nic free!

Freedom from nic on the day our country became free! I'm gonna sew that on a pillow!

PS, I start my quit in the busiest time of my work year, oddly it worked in terms of keeping my mind off the craves.

Weaning only prolongs the agony. Cold turkey works...Throw it all down the toilet, read this site, post roll and make your promise not to dip.

Ha - I love this. I tried going 50/50 with the fake stuff back in the day when I "promised" my wife I was quitting. It was amazing though - it went from 50/50 to 60% real/40 fake to 75% real/25 fake to ahh fuck it I'm not bothering with the fake stuff anymore and went back to dip harder than ever. The kicker? - That was 8 years ago!

I'll quit with you 1 day at a time every damn day!

Now make sure you go through the house and find any stash cans you may have. Look in all your favorite hiding places. Then once you find them make sure you flush that shit and clean the cans so you cannot sneak any out of the trash.

Go to the store and get some sunflower seeds, candy, gum, straws, toothpicks, fake, and keep them handy.
Drink water, tons of it. When you think you have had enough water, drink more.
Pick a group ahead of you and read it from the first post to the last.
Read everything in the welcome center.

Great Choice!

STAY QUIT

The funny thing about nicotine is it creates the stress that it seemingly relieves. It tricks your mind into thinking that stuffing your lip will somehow make your day better, reduce stress, take the edge off, etc. It's a wicked, dirty little trick. Thinking that the presence of a substance will alleviate the desire that its absence (and prior presence) created in the first place. FU Big Tobacco for playing me for a fool.
