Title: Quit for a Higher Purpose
Post by: ForThePeaceCorps on October 24, 2013, 12:36:00 AM
ey Guys,

I am going to need the help of this group if possible. I have quit before for 250 days but caved because of stress in college. I graduated last may and have been struggling to quit for almost 7 months. I have been being weak and giving in everytime that I have that urge.

I believe in the power of this group to help everybody quit and I would like to help you guys any way that I can.

Tomorrow and the next day are going to suck, as is the next 3 months, but I finally feel that I am ready to do it. I am sick and tired of feeling sick and tired! (haha) I can't take the guilt of destroying myself over and over again when I can solve my problems in better healthier ways. I am tired of taking the easy way out and I am going to finally stop.

Tomorrow is my day one and please PM me for my phone number if you feel that you will be able to help. I AM FINALLY BEING 100% HONEST WITH MYSELF and I know that I will be needing the help of you guys to get through this journey.

My name was chosen because I am a goal driven 22 year old who worked very hard to get accepted into the Peace Corps. I am going to Ghana in Feb for 2 years and nicotine has been a weight on my leg since I was 18. I am proud that I get to represent America and I want to move on from this stage of my life into a more mature, healthy life.

Anyway, I dont mean to sound like a wussy, but I KNOW that this group works and I KNOW I can stop with you guys.

Sorry for the Long Story,

Ken

Well, day one is day one. Don't worry about anything else.

If your head is in the right place and you post roll like you mean it, you should be fine.

Post roll in your quit group. Also post roll in August 2008 (BAMFers). You don't want to to betray folks checking off day 2,000.

Do this.

Good intro. There were at least two facts in there:
Quote
I have been being weak and giving in.......

Quote
......but I KNOW that this group works......
The main part of this battle is getting your head in the right place. No more excuses. It doesn't matter what drama unfolds in daily life, there is always a quitter on this site who is facing something worse. I guarantee that. If you really think about it, there is some pretty strong irony and also some tragic comedy in your situation. You are signed up to travel the world helping other people, yet you have repeatedly failed to save your own life. Charity starts at home, right?? Stop giving your money to a bunch of murderers selling poison. Stop trashing your body with a destructive chemical. Be the best, strongest person you can be..... both physically and mentally. You've took a break before, so you should already know how much better you'll feel.

Reach out via PM if we can help.

Ken,
First of you do not sound like a wussy, rather you sound like a man that understands he is an addict. You have already received advice from two of the best quitters on this site. However, no matter how many days quit you are we all put our quit on the same way "one day at a time".

My advice is prepare for every day. Be ready for an urge/craving, fight it off with the product of your choice (fake dip, sunflower seeds, life savers, gum, etc.). Keep that stuff with you 24-7-365.

Post roll daily, as that is your promise to stay quit for 24 hours. Note that you are promising yourself, your group and everyone who supports you. It only takes one column to collapse for a building to be weakened. Understand that when that happens it will affect everyone.

Find a quitter in your group Pre HOF January 2014 close to your age, and quit date. That support is desperately needed. Exchange texts or calls with that/those individuals and note that support is a two way street.

Do not try to quit, do not tell us that life happens all that is BS addict speak and we have all seen our share of that. I urge you to do more than the minimum as much as you can. The minimum is posting roll, this site has much more to offer than that and once you invest a little bit of time the outpouring of support will amaze you, and yes I speak from experience on that.

Finally, if you ever need anything that I can help you with please feel free to PM me and we can exchange numbers. Never ever post your number in the forum send it through a PM to people.

Welcome,
Pinched

Welcome,

Great choice and welcome!

A few things:
-You're right, the next several days ARE going to suck. But you're wrong about the next three months. The taste of freedom overpowers The Suck pretty quickly.
-Don't apologize for the long story; quite the opposite, in fact. Get engaged with this group by giving us many updates on this Intro thread of yours. It will help you in many ways...
-You didn't cave because of stress, you caved because you chose to. There's no other reason for caving. How is failure an option if no one can make you chew and you want this badly enough?
-Forget about the marathon dipping session you are having or planning on having and quit NOW. Dump your stash down the toilet and let's get started.

ok confused here or I completely misread your intro... your join date is September and you are going to post a day one tomorrow....what the hell why are you getting such a pass here. First the problem with tomorrow is that it never comes. Second you have never quit before you had a stoppage. 3rd you need to quit for you or else you. I read a HOF speech and the person went to a country that did not sell dip and as soon as he got back on US soil he dipped and drank his fuckin' face off. The time to quit is now flush your shit post roll and get this quit on now for you. Make today and now your day one!!!

Sadly, that was the last we saw of you in the December group. This is the last day that you will be able to join this January group. They've got a strong quit going with a lot of good guys. Don't come in here messing it up.

Before you post roll again, we need to know the answer to these questions in regards to your cave:

1. What happened?

2. Why did it happen?

3. What are you going to do differently this time?

There are some things we need answered here these answers are more for you than us. They might have and impact on a newbie too. Sac up think long and hard.

Hey Guys,

Did you see my answers in the Jan. 2014? I posted them there and now I am having trouble finding them.

Basically in a nutshell, I gave shitty answers the first time. Then I got chewed (pun intended) out by some senior members, then I gave real answers.

What I said was

1) I pussed out and was not fully ready when I posted. It was a spur of the moment post and then I found another tin. It was weak of me, but that is the truth of what happened.

2) I let it happen because I thought I would be able to do it at a later time. I was lazy with myself and allowed myself to be a loser and a dipper. I sucked. And I let my mind get the best of me.

3) I am a stark-raving mad narcissist and I will not allow myself to be a loser who dips. Dipping is for absolute losers and if you dip, you are weak. Nobody really enjoys dip after the first few ones, their neurons rewire themselves to trick the mind into using more every few times.

Anyway thanks a lot guys, and this community is awesome. I am going to need some strategies when I am in Africa without the internet!!! If you can, please give me some tips and in return, let me know how I can help you and I will.
