Title: Oh, the fog
Post by: SmokyWydell on January 25, 2016, 10:33:00 PM
Hey y'all!

Dakota from North Carolina here. 25 days in. Still sucks but getting better.

Smoked from age 17-25 (pack a day, cloves for a while because I was one of the cool kids haha), dipped 2 cans a day from 25-29. Quit December 31, 2015 and just found the forum.

Full time musician and lucky enough to pay all the bills doing it (old time and bluegrass bassist, clawhammer banjo, Irish tenor banjo, assorted brass instruments). Tobacco and alcohol are long time occupational hazards. Quit boozing 2 years ago. This is the longest I have been without nicotine in over a decade. It has hurt, it has made me question my sanity, but it is getting better.

First time I can say calling myself a quitter has felt good. For me this is bigger than quitting drinking. I have been a slave to tobacco for too long. Thanks to the folks on the live chat forum for directing me here.

Welcome and great job posting roll! B)B

I'm pretty sure that we have a few other musicians around here. I've been here since Labor Day and I've seen quitters from just about every profession that one can imagine - even a dentist or two! :D

25 days by yourself is some pretty bad ass quitting. The best thing about this site is that when you log in here and post every day you are not quitting alone anymore. We are all here with you promising to quit for the next 24 hours. If you need help just ask.

I quit with you today!

Thanks man! Getting the hang of it. Back in the gym today for the first time in about 3 weeks. Definitely feels better, different. Also noticed my teeth are getting whiter (gum, whitening toothpaste and mouthwash, White Strips). Feeling good!

Well that's awesome my brother. Listen to all these older in quit, sometimes wiser folks ( 'na na' ) and come join in on the raccus fun that is quit.

By the way April and May discussions are going right now, we may need some bluegrass music to calm things down!

Quit on brother!
