Title: Time has come
Post by: Swan7 on May 03, 2011, 09:24:00 AM
I have been dipping tobacco for five years now and finally decided to give it my all this time. Cold turkey after a can and a half a day is gonna be tough. I hate tobacco but just couldn't stop. I just thought I didn't have it in me. However, I'm sick of losing my health and money to this stupid addiction. Any advice about the forums or quitting in general would be awesome.

Welcome Austen.

This is the best decision you can ever make.

My advice to you is read...read...read...and read some more. The answer is here if you really want to find it.

It's pretty simple around here. You promise EVERY day not to ingest nicotine in any form whatever.

You keep your WORD.

You repeat.

Simple, not easy.

There are a ton of guys that are going to reach out to you now, and I'm one of them. If you need any help, or have any questions, PM me.

This is the first day of the rest of your life...Remember it.

First it is a great decision you have made. There is nothing I can tell you that NOLAQ hasn't already told you. It really is as simple as that making a daily promise and keeping it.

Its gonna be tough, but it will be worth it.

Here for you and quit with you today.

You're right: it is going to be tough. But it is also very simple. Promise yourself, your August brothers, and everyone here that you'll quit for TODAY. Anybody can keep that promise for 24 hours. Worry about tomorrow when it gets here. I chewed and dipped like a madman for 19 years. I quit 231 days ago. You can do this. We will help. Any of us will help.

Read, post, swap numbers, come up with a plan. If you need clarification or help on any of that, drop someone a PM.

Swan,

First of all, you spelled it wrong...it's AustIn :) just f'n with ya...I'm a fellow Austin, and Quitter. 350 days ago today I was sitting right where you are. Wondering to myself, what the hell have I gotten myself into. Am I so desperate that I've sought the support of a bunch of strangers on the internet?! Can I not just stop this thing on my own? Is this place going to make a difference??...I know right where your head's at man.

Well, that was 350 days ago and I'm here to tell you friend that, YES! it has made ALL the difference to my Quit! I'd quit hundreds of times before finding KTC and this is now the longest I've been w/o nicotine since I was 15 years old. I'm 24 now.

You got this man! Just keep your head low, read, read, read as the gents have stated below me, and KEEP YOUR WORD. Simple, not easy is pretty spot on.

Embrace the Suck  the Fog now, never forget it, and never have to relive it!

Thanks to everyone who put the time in to support my quit today. It's really awesome to have complete strangers sharing a common struggle and offer advice to one another. Meanwhile my real life friends call me a pussy and don't understand my need to get off this shit (all in good humor though). My first day and I already feel welcomed.

You guys have been in the same rut as me and I will definitely take your advice to stay quit from this shit. I'll update this often just to check-in and get some motivational feedback.

And AustIn - your right.. the 'E' just doesn't cut it haha

Your friends mock you because they are jealous of you. In reality they also want to stop thier stupid addiction but they do not have the balls to get it done.

It takes a set of big nuts to stop. You got this... as you can see you have all the support here you will ever need. USE IT.

STAY QUIT
Greg

Alright well it has been ten days since the start of my quit. The first three days were complete hell. A lot of stressful events occurring at the same time really got to me. Luckily I stayed strong with the support of all of you and didn't cave in.

I do not feel the urge to go buy a tin anymore. However, when a friend pulls one out and offers it does stress me out. But I will not accept another lip in my life. I knew this was going to be difficult. I tend to stay away from drinking and video games because it really makes me crave just by previous association of dip : alcohol / video games. May work for some of you guys too.

Ten days and I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you. Also, new quitters stay strong with me as we get over this fucking habit.

Swan7 I am right there w/ you. Just hit Day 14. Luckily I am not currently hanging w/ guys that dip, but I could see the difficulty in that. It hammered me in the past.

The weekends are absolutely killing me. THis is just my 2nd weekend, and they have both been brutal. Most likely the idle time, working in the yard and garage that are all triggers.

Stay strong and post roll today for crying out loud.
