Title: post #1 day #³
Post by: mattyj12 on November 12, 2013, 12:21:00 AM
After spending a week in Mexico and Under packing my dip by about 3 days I was forced to quit. As soon as I ran out of dip I started counting the days down until I returned so I could stuff my lip. Once i got back to the states and after a 2 can binge I've decided I won't let dip stop me from enjoying another vacation. Had that last can and called it quits. I'm dip free for 54 hours now and really craving it. Trying to take it one day at a time and decided I would post on here to make it official. Hold me accountable.

x2.

Accountability starts with adding your name to Roll Call every day. We can't hold you accountable if you don't hold yourself accountable. What are you waiting for?

Welcome! You'll find that the things the seasoned quit vets tell you are what you need to pay attention to in order to really quit. I had to write because your intro reminds me of a couple of international trips i took where i really sufferred when my supply fan out. I was way out of US tobacco's market influence. I planned ahead, but didnt' bring enough. So I stole and chewed tobacco from cigarettes if need be. Sheesh, what a pitiful situation. Nobody ever knew that before, and it's good to get it out the in the open! Anyway, I applaud you for using your experience to motivate you, for being honest about the splurge when you came back, and for not giving in to buying yet another can. Make sure all your stash is gone, follow the advice the vets give you, and welcome to your quit!

Actually feeling pretty good going into day 4. Felt very resolute today in quitting. No more save me cans or spit bottles anywhere. I'll post roll call soon. I'm on a tablet and couldn't figure it out right away. Need to make it a few more days before I start using other people for motivation. This is for me

bullshit. if you can post here, you can post in roll. even if it isn't the copy/paste method. post 'matty - day x - can somebody add me' and you'll get added to roll.

and those quitters in roll aren't there to motivate you. they're there to hold your ass accountable.

if all you're going to do here is post status updates, then get a fuckin' twitter account. if you're here to quit, your ass belongs in roll.

Listen to 'drome, find anyway to put your name on the line/in the thread. Get that accountability. Start to build that bond that when you stick to it will form and be almost impossible to break.

I've done it for 500 days and my bond ain't breaking until I am in my coffin....

That brings up memories of mine from Mexico. I use to go diving about 4 times a year in Mexico and ran out of Cope several different times. I would walk the streets, that I shouldn't have been on, late at night trying to score some tobacco.

I would bring some interesting "stuff" back to my hotel and I think most of it was illegal as they always thought I was asking about something else.

The worst leaf tobacco I have ever had in my life occurred one of those nights. It stained my teeth and my hands for about 2 weeks. s the years went buy, it got where I could find some places that had cans of dip. It was usually something odd and dried out but at least it was dip.

I don't see that you have stated a good reason not to post your promise that you are quit for today. Its a little hard to do on a tablet----whatever... I do it on my phone.

The real reason that you are delaying posting roll, whether you know it or not, is that you are afraid you will fail and you don't want a bunch of strangers on the internet to know and call you out on it.

Well, my friend, that is exactly the reason you need to post roll. Take that option away. Give your word and keep it. Put your ass on the line. That is how you will gain victories in this battle, earn the respect of like minded warriors, and beat the nicotine back one day at a time.

Do it.

What does "this is for me" mean? Who do you think I am quitting for... You??? Nope... I am quitting for me but I have a load of KTC folks that have my back because I choose to post roll and be accountable to them. I make the decision every morning to be quit for the day.

You are not doing anyone here any favors by hanging on a few days on your own before you figure out how to post roll.

Read the directions and post roll. It is not rocket science. It is ez to do on a tablet or phone. I guarantee you will figure it out. You may flub it up the 1st time but someone here will pick you up once you make the decision and do it.

Quit screwing around and quit.

I am somewhat of a newbie but fully believe in this system of accountability. Start with posting roll every day. And please reach out to members of the group. We can all use a helping hand at times of weakness but can also provide some solid resolve when others need help. Welcome to the Quit!
