Title: Stop Dip 2017 (Quit date 12-22-16)
Post by: StopDip2k17 on December 22, 2016, 03:13:00 AM
I have recently decided this deadly habit needs to quit controlling my life. I have quit recently, but it only lasted two weeks. I felt there was no one who really shadowed me encouraging me to stop and I would cave into my temptations. I am an addict and I need help. Today, was the last day I will use dip again. I need some push, please help me.

StopDip,

Welcome to the best decision you've ever made. I will not sugar coat it. It will SUCK for the first 3 days at least maybe a few more. IT WILL GET BETTER.

First things first.

1. We need to change your vocabulary a bit. You have an addiction not a habit (which you rightfully noted).
2. You have never quit before, there is only 1 Quit!
3. The most important thing you do here is POST ROLL! Roll is your promise to yourself and the rest of your group that you will not use nicotine in any form for 24 hrs. We only make that promise for 1 day! We repeat that promise every day there after. You can do anything for 1 day.
4. Based on your 12-22-16 quit date, you will be in the March 17 group. March 17 (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30081110/)

Drink Lots of water , exercise, read as much as you can on the site.

1. Be sure to visit the WELCOME CENTER (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13) for what you need to know.
2. Stop by Introductions (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=25) and tell us something about yourself.
3. Knowing what to expect is found here (http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/what.asp) and  here  (http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/symptoms.asp).
4. Print this Contract to give up...  (http://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures/contract-to-give-up/); put it in your wallet and commit to signing it before you can take another dip.
5. Read about Tom and Jenny Kern (http://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures/jenny-tom-kerns-story/) , It will be a tough read, but do it. Start from the beginning
6. Unsure how to Post Roll? Click here -- How to post roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50).
7. For inspiration stop by Words of Wisdom (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=41),   HOF Speeches (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=9), and the Hall of Legends (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=65)

Get in there Post Roll and meet your group and the vets that hang out there. It gets kind of loud in there right now but it should calm down a bit.

Jeff W included just about everything. That's surprising, because he's a wolverine fan.

Congrats on posting Roll. What I'll tell you is to jump in with both feet and get engaged with the community. Drink the Kool-aide, and you'll stay quit.

I'm proud to quit with you.

Jeff nailed it and so did RDB regarding our state's remedial university. Take it one day at a time (ODAAT) and enjoy the holiday's nicotine free!

SD2K,

Excellent job with the roll post! You're absolutely right....there is a war about to be waged inside your brain housing group. Be ready for it by reading as much as you can on this site (that your day job will allow). Get to know your quit group, build that web of accountability. You'll be glad you did. This is a war that will take AWHILE for you to feel like you're getting the upper hand, but it will come. Give it time, and remember when you're going thru the suck that nicotine withdrawal has never actually killed anyone....it just FEELS like it sometimes.

Quit with you today!
