Hey everyone, after over a year of dipping a can a day I decided to quit with a little push from my girlfriend, and I am finally motivated to do it. I'm sick of thinking all day long about when I will be able to throw in a lipper. I can't wait to get back to my normal self where I am happy naturally and not with having shit in my gums. As of 4pm today (May 31st) I threw all my cans away, all my spitters, and don't plan on going back.
I started using nicotine in high school with an e cig, then turned into snus, then turned into Grizzly LC WG in college when I joined Army ROTC and joined a fraternity.
I'm 20 so I want to get off the can before it turns to 2, 3,... cans a day.
I'm glad a community like this exists and can't wait to get through this hell which the next couple weeks probably will be.

Congrats whitman, you have come to the right place. thank your girlfriend but you need to do this for you first. Get into your quit month and post roll, its our word to our brothers and sisters that we will not use Nic for today. We do it first thing in the morning to start our day off. Drink as much water and you can to help get the nic out of your system. Then when you get time, look through the website and read, read, read. You can do this for one day at a time, one hour at a time or one minute at a time if it comes to it. Best Decision you could make. Quit with you today.

What Sir Nope said, x2. Welcome. Next, as he said, you need to start reading.....this site contains a wealth of information.
You also need to head on over to September Samurais (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11155274/32/#new) and post your promise you're done with nicotine. Then honor that post. Repeat daily. Whatever it takes to keep that crap out of your mouth. Trust me, it works. As a near four-decade-long abuser of Copenhagen, you CAN beat this addiction. I'm quit, I quit with you today.

Nice job! Sir Nope is right, it has to be for yourself. Grab some fake or seeds, candy and tons of water. Use any crutch you can as long as it's not nicotine. Drink a ton of water it helps. Read read read! If you need anything pm me. I'm quit with you.

Thanks everyone for the support. Just went out and got some seeds and jerky chew (that shits gross, gonna buy some fake stuff online). It is definitely for me now, I tried weaning off dip because she wanted me to but I realized I was getting nowhere since I wasn't motivated myself. Now that I am, I'm confident I can do it.

Whitman. Like your Quit story! Now let's get to making it happen! This is a phenomenal community you've tapped into... I've only been here 5 days and I'm astounded at the support offered. Nothing weird, freaky or cultish...just a bunch of dumb asses that started chewing years ago who have now gotten smart and turned into a bunch of Bad Ass Quitters (BAQs).
You'll be joining our September Samurai 2015 Quit Group. You haven't posted roll call yet, so do that first thing tomorrow morning when you wake up. Go to Quit Group | September 2015 (topic/11155274/32/#new (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11155274/32/#new)) and follow the instructions for roll call.
We have a really strong group of BAQs and we are ALL going to make it together. I will PM you my digits. Text me or call me if you start to feel challenged. Also, lots of other quitters who have been doing this much longer than me will help you out too. Don't hesitate to lean on them.
In the meantime, surf the site, read up on symptoms, personal stories, etc. This site doesn't cost you a penny, but it's not free. Your cost is:
1. As soon as you wake up every morning, you must post roll call - which is your commitment to yourself, me and your fellow Samurai that you will not put nicotine in your system that day
2. Honor your promise and make your Quit rock solid all day.
3. Wake up the next day and repeat.
Simple. :) Talk to you soon and be strong.

Glad you're here. I don't see you posting roll though. Do you know how this site works, and how the program can work for you?
-
Okay Whitman.....I'll tell you the same thing I told diamonddave. Ball is in your court. Either you sack up and post a day 1 or you don't. If you do, and build you a web of accountability, you'll find more support for your quit, free of charge, than you could possibly pay for.... If you don't, and you don't have the gumption to face the nic beast yourself, you'll continue pounding a can. Your choice. Either post up or go away.

Sorry for the late response. I've been clean since my quit date/time but I woke up yesterday with a high fever/sore throat, had to go to the Dr. So now I'm having nicotine withdrawals and some type of sickness, not sure if that is helping or not... Posted roll today

If you post roll but the rest of your day went shitty, you've still had a great day! Don't let the fever and sore throat wear down your resolve: nicotine won't make a viral illness go away any faster.
Hang in there! I quit with you today.

Good man, you posted roll.
Sounds kind of lame at first ..."posting roll." In time, you'll find that everything (brotherhood, friendship, accountability, being quit) all stems from posting roll. It is the cornerstone of quitting; always post roll and never stop. I've been posting my promise 538 days strait and I've never missed a day. Everyone here knows I am quit. I promise them I am quit and....they trust me. There are many others just like me and I trust them. Do the same and you can be part of this exclusive brethren.

Hey Whitman, here's how this works. Steakbomb is in my month. For 557 days I have posted roll with him. He is my brother. I could never let him down. Nor he me! I've never met him but I love him because he has helped me stay free. This site is no joke if you embrace it. Accountability+Brotherhood= Success!

Whitman,
Both of these dudes ^^^ are serious quit-masters. They understand that this works, if you use the system. Posting roll, EARLY (like after you wake up and piss), is key to the process of building accountability.
Proud that you posted, yesterday. What about today? Sorry to hear you're a bit under the weather, but just remember that having a problem and adding dip means you now have two problems. Renew that promise; post up another day (a "+ 1"). Fight this addiction with more support than you would ever think possible!
