Hi all, my name is Derik. I am 21 years old and I've been chewing 1/2 can a day for the past 5 years. I've been trying to convince myself to quit for at least the past year, but every time I wind up giving into the cravings and buying a new can the very first day of my "quit." Not this time. I'm tired of feeling dependent on my can, sinking tons of my hard earned money into big tobacco, and especially seeing the look of disappointment from my family any time they see me with a fat lip of Copenhagen. I've officially hit the 24 hour mark from my last dip and it's already been a battle.
I'm so glad I've found a community of people that have been or are currently going through the same challenges I'm facing. A bit of background about me: I'm from the state of Missouri, I'm currently living in St. Louis, and I'm studying business. My favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Blues, and Mizzou Tigers. Being a recently legal drinker, my favorite hobby right now is watching sporting events at the many bars in downtown St. Louis. I also enjoy golfing, camping, fishing, and playing slowpitch softball. If you're ever in the area, message me and we can grab drinks to celebrate being quit!
Since I've been trying so hard to quit for the past year, I plan to treat myself at the end of 100 days with the money I would have spent on chew in that time. I haven't decided for sure yet but I think I want to either get rink side tickets to a Blues game for my girlfriend and myself or get my first tattoo. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about me and I look forward to becoming close friends with all of you as we fight this bitch they call tobacco together!

Hell yes Derik! I love the idea of the rink side seats. You'll definitely have earned it at 100 days. I highly respect your decision to quit!
Now, about that drinking (as I write this with half finished beer next to me)...
I'd avoid the bar scene for a while. Get a solid foundation of success before introducing alcohol and chewing buddies into the mix. I don't doubt your resolve for a second. But, I also don't doubt that you've done some pretty stupid shit as an "illegal drinker". Don't let that stupid shit be putting nic in your system. There is no excuse.
Post roll first thing every morning. And take that seriously. We don't take this lightly. PM me your phone number and I'll keep you accountable. And maybe call you at 3 am just for the shit of it. I'm a heavy breather.

Glad to see you figured roll out. Don't worry about any day but today. We quit one day at a time for a reason, more than that will become overwhelming. I'll second smokeys warning about alcohol we've seen to many quitters cave under the influence early on. I'll be posting with you daily.
-
Not much more to add. I will be on I-70 in a week and it goes right past KC royals stadium. I fly to Nashville, (That place kicks ass) and driving my son back from school.
Long story short; the odds of someone your age, killing nicotine, is rare. I didn't quit until I was well into 43 years.
The sterotype of your age group is that you are so tough, you can go it alone. If someone my age gives you shit, instead of looking in the mirror, you need to prove that you are one bad ass son of a bitch.
If you want to beat the odds, you have to admit that this is an addiction more powerful than you. Post roll everyday...even before brushing teeth, this is the most important thing you can do when you wake...POST ROLL and keep your promise to be quit for the day.
If you will listen to the vets and do what you are told...You will be freed. If you are a cocky SOB and need to experience before you learn. You'll quit for good in 20 years.
Welcome but odd are against your quit. Please, Please, Please be a man and defy the odds!

Thanks for the advice about alcohol consumption. Now that I'm legal, I've been favoring 3-4 high quality beers at the bar instead of the underage "binge drink the cheap shit" mentality. However, if you believe this will still be too much temptation I am more than happy to lay off for a month or two. I won't tell my German family if you won't ;)
One advantage of moving to St. Louis recently is all of my chewing buddies now live 4 hours away on the western side of the state. I'm making a commitment to avoid going back to visit until I have been quit for at least 100 days.

If you're driving through KC I strongly suggest Oklahoma Joe's BBQ. In my opinion, one of the best BBQ joints in the nation (Memphis BBQ gives it a run for its money). I'm looking forward to having the vets here to hold me accountable and give tough love when necessary. The people in my life that support my quit have never been through a quit themselves, and the people that do chew have no intention of quitting. Hopefully I'll be able to defy the odds and kick the habit early :D

"Hopefully I'll be able to defy the odds and kick the habit early".
Welcome to the site and great decision. Your statement above ^^^^ leaves the door open for failure. Hope for the right numbers for lotto. Post roll and don't put the poison in your pie hole every day. No hope/try,,,,,,,,, just quitting every day by keeping your word to us, your family and most importantly yourself.
Realize your addicted ( not a habit ) to one of the most addictive drugs known to man and you can never have just one.
Start reading everything you can on this site. Learning this enemy will help you more than you can imagine. Read everything you can on addiction and nicotine.
I have a friend that told me he quit recently. Told me he had a month under his belt. He advised me he only had 5 cigarettes during the month. A week later he told me he's back to smoking full time. He believed he could have one and start over, then believed it again and again. Don't believe the lies any longer.
One day at a time and you can have back a lot of what the poison has stolen. Never again for any reason and you can keep it. Need another number let me know.

Derik,
First of all welcome to the site. You have received some very sound advice from some veteran quitters. However, there is one thing that I would like to offer a little differently. That is that I too live in the St. Louis area, it may sound odd to meet someone from the internet that you know little about but having a solid quitter in your neighborhood can add a tremendous amount of credibility and accountability to your quit that just being on the internet cannot.
I am here at the ready anytime you would like to talk. I am still young in my quit at 115 days and will be for at least 24 years until I surpass my # of addiction days. I am an addict, but I am beating this one day at a time.
Let's grab a Schlafly or some Gus's pretzels and talk some time brother!

Hey quit brother, you and I are in the same quit group. I’m just reaching out trying to strengthen my quit network. 100 days seams nice. Especially since each day is a win right now for you and me. I think 100 days is more of a starting line than a goal line where our status goes from newbie to toddler. The only tattoo I would get at 100 days is a sign right on my face saying, “Addicted To Nicotine! Please punch me in the mouth if you see me using it.” It's nice to be quitting with you. Let’s win today. I say fuck trying to quit, I’m quit! PM me anytime brother.
-
Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to cut weak words such as hope and try out of my vocabulary; I will quit tobacco for good. Day 2 is about as rough as I imagined it being. 4 hours of sleep last night, spent lectures sitting in the back zoned out, yelled at my roommate for no good reason. I did clean out all the empty cans and spitters in my room, which was cleansing in a way.
Pinched, that sounds great! I will shoot you a PM a bit farther into my quit when I'm comfortable with drinking alcohol again. Ihatecope, hell yeah! I'll see you on the other side of the fog brother. B)

The dull headaches have gone to full-blown migraine today. So close to purging the last of the nicotine from my system. Going to tutor the baseball team later today, time to abolish my old "you can chew in study hall" rule.

Your making a life, time, stress and worry saving decision right now. Stay committed to this quit - you sound like you have a great attitude. I know you are in the midst of some tough times right now, but just remember you are just trying to quit for today.' Don't worry about tomorrow, or next month or the HOF right now - just get through today. I was exactly where you were at one point. Loving life, feeling invincible in college, dipping everyday. I told my self at 20 I could quit at anytime if I needed too. Well I was wrong - thousands of dollars and immeasurable worry later I Finally quit for my self. Great job getting out ahead of your addiction and quitting NOW.
We can work on you being a blues fan later.

All nicotine has officially left my system! Damn, that feels good to say. The guy in front of me in class was ninja dipping today. I think I was the only one that noticed, but there's no sneaking the smell of Copenhagen wintergreen past an addict such as myself. That was a tough moment, so I put in some seeds and tried to breathe through my mouth as much as possible.
Oddly enough, the visual cues don't really bother me. I found an empty can in my backpack and threw it away without so much as a second thought. My daily trip to the gas station for seeds is still difficult, but it's getting better. I explained to my favorite attendant that I'm quitting, so she doesn't immediately grab whatever can is on special anymore.
Those of you that have reached out to me with your numbers may be getting a text tonight. My girlfriend and I are going downtown to see the sights and grab a couple drinks after. I'm going to stick to my usual routine of trying 3 or 4 new beers which shouldn't be enough to put me in danger, but the Nic bitch works in mysterious ways.
P.S. I'm sorta using this page as a journal to keep track of how each day goes, I hope y'all don't mind.
EDIT: Finny, I grew up primarily a Mighty Ducks fan, but since Blues games are only a 30 minute drive away now I made the leap a couple years ago. I can handle you being a Blackhawks fan, but if you're a Cubs fan too we'll just avoid the topic of baseball for both our sakes ;)

This is by far the funniest damned thing I have read all month. Well done Derik, well done!

When you get to thirty days - Not until then - Youtube "snuss or chewing tobacco" promoters of the can of lies.
The addicts are the same...they have shrines built with cans. Thier eyes are glazed over and it is a moment where you will get a glimpse of how duped we were.
Seriously, these addicts worship it and promote it. UST doesn't even endorse them with free shit. They are getting raped and loving UST for it.
Since this is your journal. Seriously, sometime after your 30 day clean mark...go watch these videos on how to dip. I commented on a few to be told to fuck off.
The reality is that Nicotine and the can will seduce you sooo much. This addictions moves into worship.
Sad, Sad, Sad. Glad to be quit with you and I enjoy the pain of quit because I will never, never, ever bow down and worship that dirty can of lies today.

Excellent posts guys and good to hear the quit is going well. DerikR, I am a diehard Chicago Whitesox fan, so can appreciate the anti-Cubs talk!
Enjoy the night out tonight with GF. PM me or call/text if you need any support.
I also have a favorite attendant at the local gas station that I'll have to train to my new orders...

Thats what your intro is for my friend. Post away. You will want to look back in the future and see what progress you have made. Glad to be quit with you.

Hope the 3-4 beers were tasty; I found no major problem with having a few drinks, but the big danger is if you get loaded. Keep quit Derik.
-
Last night went well, no cravings after having 4 beers at the bar. Being full-blooded German probably helps on that front. Last night was my best night of sleep since quitting and the fog is pretty dim, so I'm feeling great today. Gonna head up to the city for an autograph section with a Cardinals player, then back home for some college football. You guys have been awesome with your support; I will be on here during the games in case things get tough. Today I quit with all of you. Let's punch that Nic bitch right in the teeth.

If you had a good day, enjoy those days and remember the victory!
I am sure you have done this but just in case: Get some numbers programed into your phone. The days you feel the best. That cunt nicotine is going to punch you in the mouth.
Mike Tyson said, "Everyone always has a plan until they get punched in the mouth"
You might go to this signing and something will trigger a crave. When nic punches you in the mouth...Call your support! You will be knocked silly. You need to make that call so that you can have a standing 8 count and get back in the fight!
Be ready, the nic bitch is waiting for the opening to punch you in the mouth. Have a plan to not be impulsive. Call a brother.
I can't warn you enough. A Flash Flood craving will come. Be prepared. Don't get too cocky. Make that call when you get punched.
Check your PM and put me in your phone. DO IT NOW.

Made it through the day with only one minor craving. As I reached the front of the autograph line, the player absentmindedly "air packed" (you all know what I mean). As soon as I saw that I stuck my hand in my back pocket expecting a can to be there. The craving quickly passed, and when I mentioned it offhand to the player he laughed and said he recently quit too but still air packs out of habit.
On the bright side, I got his autograph and then went to the Apple Store and got my phone fixed :D

The beauty about addiction fed habits like that is when you reach your HOF and get to place that HOF coin in your pocket you will learn that it is twice as thick as a normal coin and that it works great for packing.
The even better part is that when you pack that coin real hard the inside edge of your finger hurts, further reminding you that you quit and the ape behavior can quit too.
Yes I have experienced this, yes I tap that coin in my pocket as though I was looking for the "tin". Happens more than I wish, but at least that thud from the coin reminds me to stay on track.

Hey Derrek,
No worries I am a huge white sox fan - so we are in the clear there. Unfortunately, the sox are just about as bad as the cubs these days, and the cards continue to reign supreme in the NL. I had a few siblings go through SLU so I am familiar with the area - had nothing but good times and a few too many budweisers ( and I'm a miller guy).
I would recommend using this or something as a journal. Tracking my days helped me realize where I was in my quit, and showed me that wha I was going through was normal for that stage. It is also great too look back to see the progress made.
-
Today I experienced the strongest crave of my quit. I woke up two hours earlier than normal to go to church with my family, so I started off grumpy due to lack of sleep. Their church is much different from mine and the sermon was aimed entirely toward donating to the church for their renovations, which worsened my mood. From there, I was dragged along as my sisters shopped for new dresses. All the while the Nic bitch was whispering in my ear.
From here we went to the high school to see my youngest sister perform in the school musical. At this point the cravings were driving me crazy. With the help of some sound advice from Mogul, I decided my quit takes top priority and ducked out of the auditorium to get some seeds and water. My decision wasn't too popular with my family, but they are having a hard time understanding just how difficult dealing with nicotine addiction is. I would rather ask for their forgiveness later than try to fight through a tough crave without all available resources.
I can handle the White Sox Finny, the Big Hurt was one of my favorite players growing up.
-
Keep the seeds in your pocket at all times. I won't hesitate to pop in a seed unless I'm mid conversation. When I crave i pop a seed. I'm craving a lot. It's like a giant hole in the very soul of my being. But I realize it's a nasty dirty trick being played upon me. I am simply a pawn. Question is will I pay $5 a day to ensure an early death, or will I forgo killing myself and focus on being alive. Life is more enjoyable without nicotine usage for me. My senses are keener, I'm more intuitive, I do have trouble focusing right now, but confident that wil improve.
Fight through the cravings. And post that you quit early. Get your promise on the books early mornin. If you cave after that promise I'd be shocked. I'd say you're a lot more likely to cave before you make the promise. Post when you get up.

The Family Rules:
1) Always ask for forgiveness, never for permission
2) Never ask for permission
3) Always ask for forgiveness
4) Family are like fish, After 2 days they start to stink
5) It's hard to leave your loved ones and go home to your family (Airline special there)
6) Family can suck, family can rock, but like one night stands, they should only stay 1 night.
7) Sisters which are also second cousins might be fun to hang out with.????
8) Third cousins are just like strangers and are fair game, just like sisters.
9) Don't let Grandma catch you repeating number 8
10) Grandma is not off limits if your game is that bad.

Today has been great. The fog was fairly thin today, so class went more smoothly than normal. I got in a great workout along with 2 miles after class, twice what I usually run. I also got a lot of work done around the house. Not going to let my guard down, but it's nice to have a good day after a particularly tough one.
Grizzly, I have my seeds on me full time. However, in the auditorium where the musical was held there is a strict no food or drink policy so I had to leave them in the car. And Mogul, I love the family rules 'crackup'
-
Good to hear the fog was thin for you today. Was definitely a little hazy for me. I hadn't really tried the seeds until this afternoon and they were a great boost. Brought be back to my high school baseball days, at least while the coaches were watching. So, I am all for the seeds, and love Mogul's Family Rules!
-
OH boy, My wife just read my "Family Rules". Now Im in trouble and she thinks I'm "SICK".
I asked her if we could still be cousins? :o

Day 8 has gone fairly smoothly so far. Class went by without any problems. The ninja dipper in front of me didn't even bother me today; in fact, instead of a strong crave when I smelled his wintergreen, I felt sick to my stomach. I'll take stomach pain over a crave any day.
One interesting development in my quit is the mouth sores that I woke up with. They were a bit sore yesterday, so I avoided seeds for the day in case they were tearing my mouth up. When I woke up this morning however the sores were much more painful. Mouth sores are nothing new so I'm not terribly concerned, but it has been very inconvenient since I practically live off spicy foods. I reread the "Symptoms of Quitting Dip" article and this seems to be a common occurrence among quitters.
Overall I'm feeling great after my first week without the Nic bitch. She's tried to creep back into my life, but each time I've punched her right in the teeth and she's gone back to whimpering in her corner. I couldn't have made it this far without all of you badasses giving me encouragement and holding me accountable. I quit with you today.

Today (Day 9) was a good day with one small bump that almost caught me. Got in a morning workout and then class and work went well. What almost caught me was after work. I went up to the city to hang out with my lady friend, and we wound up at a hookah bar where one of our friends works. He was on break so he grabbed a hookah and we all sat down at a table. I had the hose in my hand and halfway to my mouth before I realized there is tobacco in hookah smoke. I passed it on and had a beer instead.
Other than that things have been great. Quit on brothers and I'll see you at roll call tomorrow.

Days 10 and 11 have felt pretty good. Yesterday I found out that I won a $100 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods, so I drove up to the city to claim it. :D Still weighing my options on what I want to buy, but leaning toward a new fleece jacket. While I'm thinking of it - do any of you own/ have you ever owned a Patagonia jacket? I hear they're the way to go for a quality fleece that'll last you for years.
Today I went back up to the city to apply to a few jobs. I don't mind my current job, but A- my current pay is primarily tip-based and B- there are lots of smokers in there, which brings the fog back while I'm there.
I'm starting to gear up for the weekend. My mouth is still going through the healing phase where I have lots of sores, so I stocked up on gum in place of my usual seeds. No Nicotine for me this weekend. Quit on brothers.

Glad to be quit with you my fellow Flyin' Freedom Duck Fuck...
I have a Patagonia jacket and like it quite well it is one of their more expensive outdoor jackets (400) but I use it for big winter vacations.
Personally for lighter weight fleece jackets nothing beats Columbia for me, I have North Face, Under Armour, ... you name it. I don't know nothing lasts and washes and stays in original condition quit like it dunno why.
Keep the quit going brother. See you at Roll

Great job on your quit derekr. Been keeping an eye on you. Got a question?

Where do you work that allows this ^^^^^. You don't have to answer, I just find it interesting that there is establishments that still allow this. Keep in mind, i'm very reserved and don't get out much. lol
I would definitely, undeniably, without a shadow of doubt find me another job. That is not the place for you my friend. You don't need that crap. There is no way your making enough money. Quit with you today.

I am usually not for government restricting personal freedoms, but I live in a county that has banned smoking in restaurants and bars, and I am thankful. There is a casino nearby that allows smoking and it is like getting slapped in the face when I go there. I cannot imagine working in a smoky place. Get some clean air.

I'm not 100% sure if you're asking about the wages or the smoking, so I'll address both. In Missouri, the minimum wage for tipped workers is $3.67. Usually my tips make up for the lower base pay, but occasionally I'll have a slow week and my paychecks are awful. The restaurant I work it is sort of a pizza place / sports bar combo, and they still have a smoking section in the restaurant.
Ace, I've had North Face and Columbia and haven't had problems with either one. A college buddy of mine grew up in Colorado and loved her Patagonia, so I was just thinking of trying it out. Besides, in Missouri it's about a 70/30 split of North Face/Columbia jackets so I also like the idea of a Patagonia because I wouldn't be wearing the same jacket of everyone and their brother.
Day 12 is going pretty well. Found myself air packing again earlier while I was cleaning the garage. The craving was pretty weak though, so I made it through fine. I can live with an air packing habit if the cravings are weak like that. Sitting down to watch Georgia and Auburn now with a couple beers, then headed out to a bonfire later. No nicotine for me today. Quit on brothers.

I was referring to the smoking. Its just madness to still allow smoking in a public place. I know you need to make a living, but i couldn't work there and to be honest. I feel you would better yourself to find another job. There is something out there for you. Good things coming your way my friend. Stick to the plan.

Day 13, closing in on 2 weeks with no Nic. My mouth is in pretty bad shape right now. The little "pocket" in my gums where I always put my chew (I'm sure you all know what I mean) is healing itself and it's very sore. I also have 2 sores and a cut on the tip of my tongue, which I presume are from the mass intake of seeds at the start of my quit. The silver lining of all the mouth pain is I've weaned myself off of seeds, so the oral fixation aspect is gone for the most part. See you all in roll call tomorrow.
-
Day 15 is well underway without any problems. I woke up with a dull headache, but it went away with a big glass of water. The most interesting development of the last couple of days was the dream I had the other night. I've seen stories from some of you guys about dip dreams and I finally see what you mean about how vivid they can be.
In my dream, I had gone back home a few days early to see all my friends before Thanksgiving. We all went out to a bonfire like old times, and sure enough I put in a dip. Even in the dream I realized how bad I had fucked up and started freaking out. Shortly after that I woke up and bolted upright in bed. Dip dreams are flat out scary now.

Those night terrors are signals too. You are beating nicotine to the point, that nasty skanky whore sneaks into your subconscious mind. Mine was so vivid, I opened my nightstand drawer. Wondered if I snuck out and bought a can. I felt guilt but a wise vet told me that when you have a dip dream, don't feel guilty because you didn't cave and are beating your addiction.
So it is a nightmare but real progression in your quit! Proud of you. Stay the course. Its all good.

Just a quick update from day 17. The dip dreams have been recurring the last couple nights. They aren't pleasant by any means, but I have a history of sleep paralysis so things could be worse. The mouth pain is gradually getting better; of the cut and 2 sores, I'm down to one sore that is beginning to heal. I'm already starting to prepare for the weekend to ensure my quit isn't ruined. QLF

I see your keeping your intro updated. This is a great resource to look back on in the future.
Your doing great Derek. Good things coming. Quit with you my friend.

These are the signs that we are in this fight to free ourselves from nicotine. Damn it feels good standing up and swinging back at the nic bitch instead of the pussy alternative.

Thanks everyone. My old college roommate is coaching high school football now and his team won a big football game last night so he wanted to smoke a celebratory cigar. I turned it down, but I won't pretend it wasn't tempting. Aside from that day 18 went well.
Day 19 - Mouth pain is gone, sores have finally healed. I got up really early to hunt this morning, but unfortunately didn't have any luck. Snuck in a quick power nap when I got back, now up for a day of college football. I'll be avoiding the temptation of nic by watching with friends that don't chew or smoke. I quit with all of you today.
Also, I want to take a minute to thank huzsker for his support. Since we're both in college and in our early 20s, we've been texting most days to hold each other accountable and fight through the triggers that college life throws at us.

This ^^^^ is great. I'm glad to see you using the tools fellows. Accountability is key. It makes giving in that much harder. If you ever get a chance a meet would do wonders for both of you. Quit with ya'll today.

Well Done Derik! You got through a major trigger and very proud of you. Sorry the hunt didn't pan out, but a power nap and late season college football is a good day. Stay strong Bro!

I've been lazy about updating my intro the last couple days, so time to bring it up to speed.
Day 20 was a bit of a roller coaster. Church and lunch with the family went well, but then the Chiefs shit the bed and lost a game they should have won. Lots of stuff being thrown around the room, but no cave.
Day 21 was nice. As soon as I finished class I drove up to the airport and picked up my girlfriend. We spent the day together, watched the games at our go to bar, then dropped her off and headed home. Unfortunately my phone died before I got the chance to post roll, so I posted for day 21 and today as soon as I got home.
Day 22 has gone well so far. Still haven't been sleeping well, but I'm starting to get used to running off minimal sleep. Tomorrow we leave for family Thanksgiving in Kansas, so the next few days will be challenging due to the change in routine. I've got my collection of numbers to use if things get rough, so I'm confident that I'll be able to fight the bitch off.
-
Officially one month quit! Man, it feels good. The nic bitch has been pretty quiet the past week or two, hence why I haven't been updating my intro. Over the last couple days I've been experiencing dull headaches and some minor mouth pain. I'm not 100% sure this is the bitch at work, but I've been lured back to chew too many times in the past to write her off. Lots of water and atomic fireballs for this guy until things quiet down again. Stay quit gents.

Well done bro....
just keep it up and never let your guard down as the nic bitch lies in wait until we are at our weakest. So remember to learn the tools here.
Quitting beside you today

Sounds good. Congrats on a month! Keep it going. Where do you get the atomic fireballs? Is there a bulk package? I need to quit these seeds. They're pissing my wife off.

I bought a bulk tub of them at Party City, it was $10 for a 150 count tub. I'm sure there are other places to get them too, like Sam's Club, Amazon, etc. I chewed seeds exclusively for the first week or two, but they make a mess and they tore my mouth up.

Just a quick little update, mouth pain is about where it was yesterday. It's inconvenient, but not painful enough to keep me away from my spicy foods. :D
Also, I had another dip dream last night. I still can't get over how real they are... when I woke up I had to check all my old hiding places to make sure I hadn't actually caved. Stay vigilant men.
-
Derik, dude you da man. I haven't had a dip dream yet, still looking for that one.

My wife is going to look for the fireballs tomorrow. Thanks. As for the cave dreams, I've had 4 so far. Each one has gotten more vivid than the last. Last night I was absolutely convinced I took a dip. I remember during the dream talking to myself and asking if this was a dream. I was so disappointed in my dream. It's like the movie inception or something. Huge relief when I finally realized it wasn't a dream. The guilt I felt is almost equal to a dream about beating the neighbor kid to death for offering me a dip? God I hope that was just a dream by majorhunting.

Mine have been getting progressively worse as well. Woke up from one last night where I was watching the football games with a big ol' fatty in and felt physically sick to my stomach. Granted, I've been sick the last day or two, but I haven't been having any stomach pains aside from after the dip dream. Seems like every time I get over one challenge the bitch flings another one my way. Fuck her, I'm winning this fight. 'Finger'

Yep, you keep that up Derik, each test she throws and you pass is one more she learns won't work on you anymore as long as you keep this ODAAT up! Very proud to quit with you again today cause you make my quit stronger.

Dip dreams are a natural thing and part of the healing process. At day 90 I had my first one and went about 40 days straight having one each night thereafter. Still have a couple to 3 every week. These are nightmares for me and I always wake up thankful I am quit and post roll immediately. Over time they will fade as our minds re wire. But for now... Embrace them for what they are... A reminder that you are quit and winning the battle today! Stay quit brother!!
-
Well it's day 39 and the mouth pain has subsided again for now. If my quit pattern continues the pain will be back within the next week, but I'll take a pain-free week. Dip dreams are still going strong, but I'm starting to get used to them. Now instead of feeling sick and panicked when I wake up, I'm just annoyed and do a quick lap around the gums with my tongue on the off chance I really did cave. I was a bit irritable over the past week and a half, but that was just as much a product of finals week as it was of the Nic bitch. Hang in there everyone, I quit with you today.

Day 42 and I wanted a dip so bad today. I quit my server job yesterday because the tips don't even come close to compensating for the lower pay rate. The stress of applying for new jobs was really getting to me, so I went and bought a can of Smokey Mountain. It didn't completely do the job, but it kept me from caving. Live to fight another day, that's all we addicts can do. Keep on fighting.

Hey all, sorry to disappear for a few days but I'm back. Things have been crazy the past couple weeks. We've had family coming in and out non stop since break started, so I've been busy spending time with them. I've had a few craves, but nothing too bad compared to the first couple weeks of my quit. Nothing else to report really, just thought I owed it to you guys to check in and apologize for my disappearance. Happy New Years everyone!

Don't ever stray too far. No matter how many days we are all $5 and a bad decision away.
and besides remember Brotherhood, and extend it outside of this site. Make it real and you will never be out of touch again.

Derik, we figured you had caved. Glad that's not the case, welcome back. Your roll post says you're on the back 9. I'd say you haven't even teed off on 1 yet. You're still putting on your golf shoes on in the parking lot. QLFEDD.

Nothing else to report really, just thought I owed it to you guys to check in and apologize for my disappearance. Happy New Years everyone!
