Newcomer to the site but not to quitting. I have a quit day of the 1st of January but decided to get started tomorrow. Cold turkey fellas so gonna need lots of support. Let's get this puppy done! Hooyah!
-
Its smart not waiting until New years, because we all have failed new years resolutions. But why wait till tomorrow. Being quit tonight is so much better. You are a nicotine addict. And right now the nic bitch is trying to convince you to have one last fling with her tonight. But tomorrow morning she will be there, telling you "one more day wont hurt". Point being "tomorrow never comes"
Wouldn't it be better if you threw out your chew right now, ran to the bathroom and flushed your stash this instance. While doing that, curse at the nic bitch. Scream that you will not let her control you for one more second.
You have been nicotines bitch for years now. Do not give her one last victory of controlling you tonight. Take back your life right now.

I've never understood the tomorrow approach.
If you're going to quit tomorrow, why not Just post roll before you go to bed (and after your stash has been flushed)? You get a day 1 for no work done, and tomorrow's quit has already been inspired.
I'm sure something will come up in the morning though...

Boy you two sure know how to make a man feel encouraged and motivated. Look, this is isn't my first rodeo. I have tried the spontaneous moment of tossing the can out the window and being done with it at least 10 times. It never worked. I found a website today for tobacco cessation online. I went through the steps and created a quit plan. I was advised to pick a date in the near future where I can wean myself to a good "cold turkey" start. I picked the first of the year....old cliche, new year's resolution thing. But, I am motivated now to start but being an organizing freak like usual, I couldn't see the reason to quit on an evening that I had 5 cans waiting for me at home and holding another quarter of a can in my pocket. I dumped those other cans at 1700 tonight and had a couple of pinches left in the other can I was looking at until you two "comforting" souls decided to tell me I was a wuss and "something" else would come up tomorrow and I wouldn't quit.
Well, I tossed the other can and now I am chilling getting ready for bed but it still doesn't change the fact that I dipped today which was not a full day of quitting.
Just a suggestion, when a newcomer comes up in here asking for some motivation because a quit date is approaching, don't test them on the will power to quit on their day. That is not supportive and hinders quitters from attaining the goal

Steve, thanks for the support and you were absolutely right. Why give it one more second of my time. Thanks bud...

Glad you are quit. Check out the Welcome center (salmon/pink link on the top). That explains what roll call is and how to post it. In a nut shell, roll call is our daily promise not to use nicotine. I know you said you used this morning, but that's ok. If you are quit now, then today is your day one.
You are in the April 2012 quit group. (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=5688) This is where you will post roll each day.
Shoot me a pm if you have any questions. Proud to be quit with you.

Well, I tossed the other can and now I am chilling getting ready for bed but it still doesn't change the fact that I dipped today which was not a full day of quitting.
If you don't dip the rest of the day and post roll now, today is your day 1. It is the rule around here. Post up.
There is a reason why it is important to the other quitters that you post now. Why? Well, this is not our first rodeo either. We have all seen countless come in here, post up a commitment to quit on such and such date, only to fade away. Post now. The burden of this shit will be off your shoulders. You will feel better.
Get busy quitting...or get busy dying.

Congratulations on having the balls to quit bud!
You'd be surprised how many people use any excuse to stay using. We weren't even hard on you. We just pointed out the flaws in the "tomorrow" quit.
But that's why we are here.
You are here because you have failed quitting on your own. So are we. We came to this site just as you have scared and physically dependent on a weed. We drank the koolaid, and learned the secret of quitting:
(1) post roll
(2) stay quit.
(3) repeat.
It's simple but it's not easy.
You have ideas on quitting. Some of them are good. Some of them are bad. If you could have don this on your own, you would have. The thing is that you, me, Steve, and every other quitter on this site are addicts. We need to remind ourselves daily of how weak we are and submit to the program. Ktc has approximately a 30% success rate which puts most programs to shame. Buy into it.

Way to go. If you need any help or a telephone number send me a personal message. You know the drill the first 3 days of withdrawal suck. You got support like never before. You can do this.

Day 1 roll call posted! We are good to go. I will be back tomorrow, no doubt. Thanks guys!

Good choice. We got your back here. Reach out whenever you feel the slightest need. Hell, come on here and post up some profanities in your group. Its funny, and it feels good.
Just worry about today, that hour or that minute. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Be over 'fore you know it.
I reckon the rest of these boys will get you fixed up nice and good

Tossing that can of dirt and posting day 1 was the smartest decision I have ever made. You will not regret it. Keep your promise and post roll every. This is important, never miss a day, for any reason. Make sure people know who you are. Exchange numbers. Make it very hard for you to leave this site without a bunch of quitter knowing about it. It is the accountability you create that will ensure you success. Never again, for any reason. Stay quit man.
Also, let us know if you have any questions or concerns on this thread or by personal message. I sent you a PM.

Welcome to the best decision you could have made. Like all my brethren have said, you will get support here like no other site. We understand you. We are you. Just with a few more days quit behind us.
Spend some time reading everything you can on this site, from quit groups to Words of Wisdom to HOF speeches. Then read it again.
You know the drill on getting nic out of your system, but I'll repeat it for you. Drink lots of water. Take vitamins, especially those with vitamin B in it. Your brain is about to take a major shit on you. That's healing going on. You will get through it. But never, ever forget how horrible it is. You never want to go through this again.
If you need support, check out Live Chat. We work on accountability here, so I'd suggest you get some numbers from your fellow April 2012 quitters. If you want mine, PM me and I will be glad to send it. Reach out and start making friends with people who will help you change your life. You will get to a point where you can help your April brothers as well.
We check on each other, so if we see you miss a day, know that your phone will get a workout. That's not a threat, it is a promise that we will provide whatever support you need. As has been stated, the rules here are simple:
1. Post roll first thing every day. Give your word that you will not use nicotine in any form.
2. Keep your word.
3. Rinse and repeat.
Do this and you will have success.
Quit on.
