Hello All,
After 25 years, I quit the chew on March 23, 2014 and thought all was good. Bought myself some nicorette gum and somehow worked myself up to almost a pack of gum per day. My mouth was in worse shape chewing on the gum than it was when I was chewing. I was all pumped to post on this site in May and boast that I had quit chewing and was only chewing gum. Glad I didn't because I really wasn't quit. On May 22nd while out of town for work, I tossed the gum away too. Figured since I'm away from home, can't sleep for shit in a hotel room anyways, might as well go through the nicotine withdrawls by myself. It's now June 19th and I haven't had a chew since March 23rd and nicotine since May 22nd. It hasn't been easy, as you all know but I will not allow myself to go back to chewing. I look forward to hitting all the milestones along with everyone else on this great site.
Thanks

Hey Snow glad to have you here, and glad you finally took the pacifier (sorry gum) out of your mouth. Need to get that quit date changed to the date you quit NICOTINE, not chew. The deal here is no nicotine in ANY form. For example, if you'd been smoking cigarettes since March 23, but no chew, would you still be quit March 23? Nope. You should be proud of being quit from May 22 - today though. That's a big accomplishment and should be celebrated as such. If my math is right (unlikely) you'll be in the pre-HOF August 2014 group. That means you hit the 100 day milestone (Hall of Fame) in August this year.
Again, glad you're here and start building some relationships. Proud to be quit with you today.

Thanks J2thaZ. I updated my quit date.

Thanks J2thaZ. I updated my quit date.
I did the same thing......cost me 2 days back on January 1, 2008.
Makes sense tho.....changing delivery systems still delivers.....
Now that you know....don't ever give another day back.....ever.
Looking forward to quitting with you......I was a doomass for 28 years.....the only thing that has ever worked has been cold turkey.....and this site.
Let ole mule pour ya a frosty cup of Kool-Aid.....
It is truly the real deal.

snopro,
Dude you rock...if you were strong willed enough to do this without a support group, you're my friggin' hero! 22 May puts you at like 29 or 30 days nic-free now. Awesome.

Drink the koolaid brother. Do it the Ktc way and you will stay quit. Stray and your chance of failure increases dramatically. This program works. Follow it.
I quit with you today.

I'm drinking the koolaid. 'Cheers'
There really isn't any other option. I don't ever want to go back to chew, ever. I'm at a point now where I just need that extra support so I don't fuck up again. I attempted quitting a year or two ago but never stopped nicotine. I'm 100% positive that's why I relapsed. That's why I never posted back in May. I read other posts of people still using nicotine and all the replies made sense. It fit right in with what I experienced a year ago. Cold turkey is THE ONLY WAY. Then getting the support and everything else from here is what is needed to stay quit.
