Title: Shockzor's Intro
Post by: Shockzor on August 27, 2014, 08:27:00 PM
Hello everybody, I'm Andrew. I live in Western Canada and I've been dippin' since I was 16. I just recently turned 32 to I've been blowing cash and my gums on chew.

I chew almost constantly from the moment I wake up till the minute before I go to bed. I've tried to quit a bunch of times before but with very limited success 'bang head' . I'm sick of being a slave to the dip, I'm sick of paying over $25 for a tin (and I go through almost a full tin a day) and I don't want to wake up in a hospital bed without my lower jaw.

Quit date is September 1, 2014... t-minus 4 days...

EDIT - I didn't read the rules. Sorry for posting before my quit date. Ooooops

Hi Andrew and I'm relatively new here as well and think I know what some others on this site might say to you very soon. Why wait, quit today, August 27th and start your wonderful journey of a nicotine free life. There is no better day than today, throw the last tin in the garbage, better yet dump it down the disposal and don't do that last dip before you go to bed. Wake up tomorrow morning a new person and post roll. You'll find tons of support here on this site. I know I have and am grateful for it. Do it today and I quit with you.

Hi Andrew. I am glad to hear you are ready to quit. Or, Are you? Listen man, let me be completely honest.....I have tried to quit several times. I have had many "tomorrow's" and several "on the first of the month" "for New Year's" and so on. It doesn't work. Now there may be some special butterfly out there that has been successful, but I'm gonna go with it just doesn't work.

Number 1 - the quitting time is now. Delaying your quit is just showing apprehension or fear. Quit now.
Number 2 - you could have the first 72 hours done and over with by Sept 1 if you just quit now. Get the poison out of your body now.
Number 3 - Will you get cancer between now and Sept 1st? Are you really willing to wait and see? Are you going to bet you won't?
Number 4 - Chicks don't dig dudes with half jaws. See Number 3.
Number 5 - It's about a lot more than the money.....So are you going to give Big Tobacco even more money since it's not Sept 1st?
Number 6 - You are an addict. Your addict brain will come up with any reason for you to keep using, to skip Sept 1 and change to Oct 1.
Number 7 - You have several thousand hands here that will reach out to help you. All you have to do is grab one.....any single one of them, and quit right now.

If you can give me a valid reason why you should wait until Sept 1st I will support you. Good luck though. I am the toughest quitting chick you will meet and I haven't heard a valid reason yet. But I dare you to try.

I will just be here, quitting like a girl until you decide. But remember, today ends at midnight. You need decide by then. I quit for today. I will quit with you today. We will worry about tomorrow when it gets here.

Number 8 - Don't keep a woman waiting. It irritates the hell out of us.

I watched the last of my chew swirl down the toilet bowl 5 minutes ago. So I'm quit.

Way to go Andrew. With that one flush your life has changed forever for the good. Like I said, I'm in it with you and so are many others on this site. I've only been quit for 7 days but I can actually feel myself getting back the control that I had lost to dip and the nicotine craving. It's something I have not felt in a long time and you have the same feeling very soon. Stay quit!

The more involved you are here the more solid your quit will be. Reach out if you are struggling.

Hey Andrew what part of western Canada? Red Deer here. Congrats on being quit! Be sure to reach out if you need help. I'm just over a year into this  am realizing each one of us find this difficult in our own ways but there will be difficult patches. Reach out. Collect numbers to help get support. PM if you want mine. This is a difficult road but so worth it!

8/26 would be better, but we will take what we can. :)

Congrats on the choice to quit! There is a wealth of knowledge here, read, read, read, and read some more, then drink some water while you are at it. This is not easy, but remember, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US has gone through what you are going through and are here to support you. We know it sucks, but you can do it!

Bad assed! Great choice to jump in and quit. READ EVERYTHING ON KTC! I cannot stress this enough. Start with the welcome center, and then keep going. Read intro threads from start to current, read cancer stories, HOF speeches, words of wisdom, everything! All the knowledge you need to quit is right here, but you have to own your quit. No one else can quit for you. Learn how we quit on KTC, and then live the plan. The plan works. Get involved here and build your accountability. Focus your rage at the poison and the drug pushers at big tobacco. Quitting will be one of the hardest things you will ever do, but it is so worth it, and it will eventually get better and easier. PM me if you have any questions or need a #. You can do this.

Andrew, awesome choice to quit today! Your freedom from nicotine begins today, and trust me, nicotine free is a good life. As you already know by now, it's going to be very difficult at first. Just do whatever you have to to keep that crap out of your body. It WILL get better soon. This KTC place is helpful, so try to spend some time here. I'm quit with you today brother.

Aside from some blinding rage around lunch I've been okay. Starting to get a bit foggy. My cheek is sore from too many sunflower seeds, but I didn't cave today and that's all that matters.

I'm in Edmonton Mike, I lived in Red Deer for a year back in 2006
