Title: K9 Seducer - Introduction
Post by: K9 Seducer on January 07, 2014, 11:42:00 PM
Hello,

I am K9 Seducer, my wife does not like this call sign.
I am a father of two girls, and I really like hunting. 'Remshot'
I really like hunting coyotes.
Also a volunteer fireman. 'fireman'

I have been chewing Skoal Straight for 25 years, just turned 41.
I had a half assed plan to join KTC and quit in February when my last two sleeves were used up.

As it happened, Friday January 3rd I had a nasty gall bladder attack while out coyote hunting and it ended up with an emergency choleo(remove an organ) ectomy.

I have not had a pinch since Friday January 3rd, and my half assed plan is in motion.

I did buy some nicorrette gum today to help me with the tough patches. Wasn't aware was forbidden here.

Just got home from hospital today, and am going to try to keep the brown weed out of my lips.

Keep the brown weed out of your lips and the nicotine out of your blood. It is probably what got you into the "ectomy" you just experienced.

Try to not lose anymore body parts.

And do not try, but do post roll in April 14.

Welcome.

Return the damn poison gum and let some other ass fall for that form of nicotine delivery! That just postpones the inevitable withdrawal!

K9.....

I suggest you promptly go to the salmon colored all caps WELCOME CENTER clicky linky above and read read and then re-read as much as you possibly can on here.

Your Intro screams that you will cave not very long into your quit. You MUST read how quitting here is done, and then DO IT.

Half ass plan? You need to fully commit. Did you type that as joking or sarcastic, I dont know. But I think you are fully aware of what a half ass plan for ANYTHING in life does for you by now, let alone quitting an addiction.

If you have read anything on this site at all yet, you know that there is no TRY.....

Sounds like you have read a little at least, since you know patches are absolutely forbidden.

Lastly...Have that internal conversation with yourself. Make sure you have the 'want', and desire to quit now. Don't just casually 'quit' cuz it was unavailable to you in the hospital, and didnt have anybody to bring you some. To truly quit, and have the desire to plow thru the tough times, you gotta truly deep down WANT to quit. And you gotta do it for YOU, and only you. Sure there are other reasons to quit, but ultimately YOU are the reason for your quit. I know you mentioned Feb that you will want to, and now you casually bumped into a quit due to the hospital...but if you post role...make sure you are committed.

Just some thoughts i had after reading your Intro. Maybe I'm off base, but it didnt sound to me like you are all in with this.

I would love it though, if you would prove me wrong. If you are fully commited, go post a Day 1 with the April 2014 group....

I am going to count this as a 2.5 day quit.

I hope I am proven wrong but I usually get it right on who is going to stay quit and who is going to dip.

Once you throw out the gum, come prove me wrong....

Thankyou all, for your passionate replies, words of encouragement.

You have all already helped a lot.
Just to be let aware of the quit side effects such as fog, constipation, salt needs, etc. has helped me stay on this so far.

I have not had any tobacco since January 3rd.

Haven't just yet kicked the gum. I have had 6 pieces.
Not to mention regular gum, peppermints, candies, pretzels.
. I am going to be a 400 pound diabetic before this shit settles out!

By the rules as I read I cannot post roll.
I certainly am not here to offend anyone.

Sharsky, I will go to welcome center and get a better handle on KTC.
Still haven't got the rules just fiqured out.

When I stop the gum, I will post roll.

Again thanks

You're not the first person to walk in here using the gum or a patch or something, and just too scared to quit. I will give you respect for respecting the rules and not posting roll while continuing to ingest nicotine. Thank you.

Now, as I see it you have three choices;

1) Continue to feed the addicition. The gum is less nicotine, true, but you brain is already wired and looking for a certain amount. You are denying your brain and it is letting you know it is not happy by creating the fog, haze, irritability, rage, illness, etc. These feelings will stay for as a long as you tease your brain with limited amounts of nicotine.

2) The above gets old and you finally give in to the Nic Bitch and throw in a dip to get your brain to settle down.

3) You quit cold turkey and fight like fuck for 3-4 days until the posion is out of your blood.

The choice is yours.

Lemme tell you about the gum. My mother was told she had to quit smoking because she had copd. To help her "Quit" they gave her nicorette. She chewed that shit for seven years. There were several pieces of it in her mouth when she died.

All you are doing is making someone else money. They are feeding your addiction and you are giving them money to keep you hooked.

Throw the shit out and quit.

Why quit? (http://whyquit.com/whyquit/linksaaddiction.html). --check out this article about nicotine addiction. You are addicted and it's a scary thing. Nicotine is a neurotoxin more poisonous than snake venom. The gum is laced with nicotine. I thought the gum would help me quit but I was wrong. You have to get your big boy pants on and just quit, and quit hard, if you want to save yourself.

You will get all the help you need here if you do it right. If I can do it, you can too

That's the way to just do it and lean into the discomfort! Congratulations on taking your life back! Now, when it gets hard, just get through it, moment by moment. It ebbs and flows. Each sucky moment you get through is one more down. Drink lots, keep moving. Just get through. If you feel good, enjoy that and use it to energize you for tough times.

You will probably have more people reaching out to you to help, too. Get your support network growing. PM me if you want my number, and get other's numbers too.

Like I said before, if I can do this, so can you. You gotta be tough, but you just showed the courage by posting. For me, learning about the addiction and the support from everyone here has made all the difference.

To be helpful, K9S, take the tip about the chat room seriously and don't lose it in us .... ahem.... clowning.... around.

And even though you might not feel like it sometimes during your early quit, humor almost always helps get through this so take it when you can find it!

Keep building that quit up strong!

10 - 4 ! on the calling. It's good stuff!

Adrenaline is on high when you're trying to fool a predator into thinking your lunch.
It's another addiction of mine.
Similar to turkey or elk hunting, make some attractaive animal noise, sit quiet in camoflauge, and wait for the animals to walk run to you.

Had one coyote burn in to within 5 paces.

First time I ever put a wounded rabbit call to my mouth, three coyotes came bouncing in to get an easy meal.
We were all surpised.
Been hooked ever since.

OK at the two week mark of no nicotine, nearly 3 weeks with out skoal.
Here is the rant for my history of how shitty this is going.

Proud member of the April 2014 - Resolute Bastards.

Posted roll everyday, got bumped off on Day 5, didn't know how to get it back.
Makes me more careful posting roll in future.
100 DAYS - that's a long way off!

Tongue is raw from eating sunflower seed, salty snacks, peppermints and gum.
Every morning I check my pants pockets for phone, wallet, pager, snuff can.
Have a panic that I can't find my can for a split second, and move on with my day.

Things don't taste good right now either. probably left over residue candies and such messing with taste buds.

Cravings are still there. Fog is still there. Can catch myself staring into space for a few moments like a retard.

My wife mentioned that I am "harder" on her and the kids, as well as shorter tempered.

I don't have much patience and get irritated easy.

Still getting a mild headache behind the eyes.

As I have been saying, this quitting is hard.
So hard in fact, I don't want to do it.
I certainly am not going to do it twice.
I will buckle down, and do it once.
I have a few ex chewers not on this site for support, that are located nearby.
Scared shitless to have a drink, thinking that will be a bad trigger. Avoiding it for now.

I am a husband, father of two, Mechanical engineering technologist, and a volunteer fireman, I have intellect and support to beat my addiction.
I really never wanted to quit before, I had no idea how addicted I was until I started quitting. I will always be an addict, but do not have to be a practising addict.

That's all for now.

Very glad to see you hanging in there, logging all of this stuff to remind you how bad the addiction really is, and STILL DETERMINED TO MAKE IT THROUGH!

100 days is too long to think about. Only think about that as a marker, by which you should have honed your skills with the tools here. But your quit is for today only, and then you'll take tomorrow when it comes. You'll have good and bad days before and after 100, but you will be changed for the better, just as you have changed already. You body will take a while to heal from years of the poison being in you, and you are giving it a chance to do that!

Proud to quit with you!

Have a panic that I can't find my can for a split second, and move on with my day."

My mouth was messed up for a while when I quit. It lasted a while. It will get better in time. The ph in your mouth is messed up and the salt is not helping things. Find some other things that are without salt. It will help. I used toothpicks a lot and still do.

"100 DAYS - that's a long way off!"

Don't worry about this ^^^^ my friend. Your right, 100 days is far off that's why we quit one day at a time. It's a lot easier to get through a day when your not worrying about the future.

"As I have been saying, this quitting is hard.
So hard in fact, I don't want to do it."

Lastly, I wanted to hit on this last statement. I have to disagree with it. You have been quit for 2 weeks and you don't want to do it?!?! I believe you want this more than you know. If you haven't, start reading all the information you can on addiction/nocotine. Start building your quit knowledge. Learn your enemy it knows you. Knowledge is power.

You want this my friend,, or you wouldn't of made it two weeks. What I'm getting at brother. Get sure about yourself. There is no more I don't want to do it. I want this more than anything and today I'm posting roll and not using. BOTTOM LINE!!!!! Start building that hate for the poison that it deserves. It doesn't deserve your respect or desire. It deserves your hatred. Damn glad to be quit with you. Need another number let me know. You got this.

Today is a better day.

Didn't have the morning jones's.
1st cup of coffee didn't cause me to rub my face raw.
Havent' had a peppermint or a piece of gum yet.

The weather here is the shits though.

Blizzard is full on here in Manitoba, looks like it will settle in for two days.
45 Below with wind chill, next to zero visibility, and 45 - 50 mph winds.
This is the 9th storm in 14 days!
Used the tractor and snowblower to clean out driveways and lanes, but didn't even get to drive on them, and they are plugged shut again.

To make it worse my we have a cattle herd that is in the middle of having calves.

Decided to make some homemade bread and buns, stay in house and keep warm.

Remember to stay Resolute! Today is a BASTARD DAY, and I am good with that!

One month tobacco free!, Day 24 on the nic free and I am proud of this fact!
Glad to be quitting with the RESOLUTE BASTARDS!

I still crave every day and am surprised at how deep the "nic bitch's" claws were dug into me.

Things are certainly better. I was able to work a bar shift at the local curling rink, without going out of my mind. I am not drinking as doc said stay off the "loud mouth soup" until end of march.

Still have foggy days.
Salt craves are nearly gone.
Sleeping is back normal
Bowel movements - starting to come around.
Things still are not tasting just right.

Gonna keep trudging. There is a higher road ahead that's an easier walk. There are enough KTC fella's letting me know, and I appreciate it.

Well said and dead on....all rang true to me.

Congrats on your quit K9. I'm right there with you at 26 day and grinding it out. I bet you can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel now, eh? I sure can.

OK, things are much much better at Day 43.
Just finished a road trip to Minneapolis with coworkers. One of whom just quit 21 days ago. We ate the shit out of gum, jerky, sunflowers, skittles, and whatever we could lay our hands on. Having a quitter along with me made it easier.

We even went out a few nights and had a couple dozen drinks, agianst my doctors wishes.

I am sure you are all aware, but gum, mints, and any sweet candies, taste like shit while drinking beer. Just sayin.

I can now be a little less apprehensive, that I would cave while drinking.
I have successfully overcome another major trigger.

I am writing this to let you all know Having you quitters along with me made it easier.

Love victory posts. Winning trumps any nicotine buzz that caving offers.

Way to face the trigger and beat it. Your quit is stronger now. When they say it gets easier. I think it isn't that the craving weaken, I think it is because you are constantly getting stronger day by fucking day. Grinding, battling but staying the course and suiting up!

Nice win. Quit with you today.
