Title: this isn't so hard
Post by: fast94 on February 16, 2014, 10:23:00 AM
Hi, my name is Jimmy I'm 19 and i have been dip free for 2 weeks now, (since Feb 1). So far I've not really had any problems except for the occasional craving but that only last for a few minutes. Some history, I've been dipping since i was in middle school so about 5 years and i used a can or more a day for about 4 years. My poison was Copenhagen straight long cut., my reason for quitting was because i was getting too dependent on it, and my teeth are too pretty, i don't wanna mess them up our lose then, the ladies wouldn't like that!

Dependent......as in addicted. Come on. Say it. Addict.

Good choice to quit when you are so young. How young are you actually?

You are correct. Chicks don't dig dudes with half jaws.

"this isn't so hard" eeek....scary title. Little brother, this IS hard. Its a fight for your life every day. What is harder? Trust me. You will be tested. The shit is gonna burn through your veins until you give in. Are you ready to battle? This is the hardest fight I've ever done. It is also the most rewarding fight I've ever been in.

Gimme a little more. What are you doing to help your quit? What are you using to help with the craves? Do you have some numbers? Do you visit chat? How is roll going?

Welcome fast jimmy. I thought quitting dip was the toughest thing I have ever done. It will get tough. When it does this community will make all the difference between staying quit or caving. Say hi to all the ladies :P

Welcome aboard. You said dip free... You using any other form of nicotine? Cigarettes, Nicolette, cigars, etc? If so, that has to go. NIC free site.

Get up in the welcome center and read up. Need you to start with posting ROLL. That is your commitment to yourself and us that you are NIC free and quit today.

Don't get too cocky and think this is ez. Far from it. Your gonna have to work and fight for your freedom from your addiction. Thinking it is ez is a recipe for disaster.

Let's start with Roll. Quit!

Welcome young man. It sounds as though your young and just handling this quit like a champ. Fact: Your here because your having a difficult time. Why else would you be searching the intranet for sites such as this.

I will agree that quitting is not as impossible as the poison has you believing before you quit. I often wonder how I was so duped for so long. 25 years, wtf. 2 weeks is just the beginning though. Trust me. The poison will come calling your name again, again, again and again. It doesn't give up. It gets easier and easier to say no. But this one rule is one you can never forget. 1 is to many and 1000 is never enough. Realize your addicted to one of the most addictive drugs known to man and this addiction will not just go away.

You got a whole life to live. Make this quit stronger. Post roll with us daily. Make a promise to yourself, us and everyone else in this world that you will not use today.

It's easy until it's not. Quit with you today.

This intro has "epic fail" written all over it. Young, cocky, and quitting for all the wrong reasons. If you think this is a piece of cake, then why bother posting an intro or coming here for help as srans points out? If you have this all figured out then prove me wrong by calling out your weak ass intro. Prove to me and everyone on this site that you can post roll and stay quit for 100 days in a row. If you prove me wrong then I'll gladly put my foot in my mouth and congratulate you.

Talk is cheap....and easy....staying nicotine free and posting everyday is not.... What is your quit plan? Are you posting Roll? Good choice to quit, but you better use all the tools offered here....and be ready to fight.

I honestly didn't come here for help, I just remembered reading about this site a while back, don't know how I found it and I figured hey might as well join since quitting is such a big deal. And honestly it really hasn't been that hard, this time atleast, the last time I tried to quit but people (my long time dipping buddy) kept offering it to me after I told them not to and I finally gave in. This time not so bad, I guess I've pretty much set my mind on it and it's gonna happen, I have been offered twice since I quit but happily turned that down. I don't smoke or anything, I quit smoking in highschool after I realized how uncool it was and how much I didn't like it lol. My last dip was on January 31, 2014. I finished my last can of Copenhagen, the next day instead of scrounging for change (I just left my job) and rushing to the store to buy a can I just said to myself I'm finally quitting. Not having a job anymore kinda helps because I really don't have the money to buy a can everyday but last time I somehow found a way to support my habit.

So what is this roll call? I might as well do it since I'm here.

It's absolutely fantastic to see someone quit nicotine at such a young age. It is such a smart move on your part. Congratulations! What you are doing is heroic compared to about 90% of other nicotine users in your age range. They are statistically doomed to a long term addiction and severe health consequences. So in all seriousness, good for you!

My advice to you is to really embrace the program here, especially if you want to quit for life. Because we quit for life here at KTC. I hope that you are all in on this, I really do. And I hope that you know that your choice to quit is probably the smartest thing you will ever do for yourself.

Quick question for you if you don't mind: Do you think that you are addicted to nicotine?

Fast-J - Good to have you aboard, and look forward to seeing you post roll with the May 2014 quit group tomorrow. Not trying to sound like a dick, but I hope your quit is not as laid-back as you're making it out to be thus far. Reason is simple: the shittier the withdrawal ("the suck"), the longer you will remember it, and the more committed you will be to not go back to the poison down the road. On the flipside, if you coast through your quit, the more convinced you'll become that you can quit anytime, anywhere, and the addiction will reel you in.

Like many others, I wish I had the conviction that you seem to have when I was your age -- I treated the "habit" like a light switch that I could turn on and off at will. I only realized a few weeks ago that the light had been on for over 20 years, and I never had the power to turn if off. Sorry for the lame metaphor, and stay true to your quit.

I like the confidence. I like the fact that you are quitting at 19. I like that you're concerned with looking good for the ladies - nothing else should matter to a 19 year old other than getting laid. Hahaha. Having said that, never confuse confidence with complacency. Keep your foot down. Bury this shit. I mean stomp the Nic bitch in the teeth every fuckin day. The amount of guys on KTC that wish they had quit at 19 is endless. You can do it right now. Take roll very seriously - post everyday. Own it. When you are 25, 40, 50, whatever it is - tobacco use can be an ancient memory for you. Kill it man.

Not going to cut it, you're 19...if I can post on my phone, you can, too. It's a pain the first couple times but you'll get the hang of it. You HAVE TO POST EVERY DAMN DAY if you want this to work. If you're going to half-ass it, this might not be the place for you.
Don't just mail it in, Fast, own it!
And congrats on the job, you have to have one to get one sometimes.

One day at a time sport. Don't start making excuses a week in advance. Lets just worry about today. As Sluggo stated learn to post from your phone. It's actually faster then logging on to a computer. You can actually make it one of your favorites, one click and your there. Unless your like cbird with that flip phone. 'crackup' Quit with you today.

It's not that hard to post from your god damn phone .

Listen to Diesel and do it every day, without excuse. That is what I hear right now, excuses. You are planting seeds for a easy escape from accountability. How many hours a day are you on Gaydar, Gawker, and Manhunt responding to posts? Use a fraction of that time to post roll. Anything less is not acceptable in my eyes. What say you, spanky?

Ill try, can't get on a computer everyday and i just tried and it is so much trouble to post from my phone. Oh had a job interview today with Walmart i got the job. I really don't want to work for them but it's better than nothing right now. Had a talk with the manager at advance autobecause i know him and every employee at that store very good, he is going to have a look at my application.hopefully i can get that job andbe doing what i know best and love, cars!
Don't fucking try. Do it. You didn't post role today, why not?

It's not that hard to post from your god damn phone .

It just seems that way now, because you're not used to it yet.

If you really want this, GET. IT. DONE.

You got a job a Wal-Mart. That's solid, congrats. I bet you could find a computer or something there to use to post role.

Winners find a way. Losers find excuses.

Don't be a fucking loser.
Manhunt sucks. Try throbbing bone if you want some real action.

I can see this cat leaving light under the door. Dude you have slam the door fully commit to quit if not its only a matter of time and this stoppage is over. Make this your quit you quit only once. There are many other things associated with tobacco use that are far more damaging than not having white teeth

Its hard to do on my phone because it will flip shit when i try to copy all the text and when i try to move the cursor to the bottom of the list to type my name, it litrrally took me like 15 minutes to finally get it in place and then i fucked up so i gave up i wasn't going through that again. Sorry i don't have a bad ass phone like you guys my shit is old but dont worry im still nic free, i honestly didn't even have any cravings all day, thought nothing about it until now, which reminded me to come here i figure if i can't post roll i could at least come here and tell you guys I'm doing fine!

Spanks -- one of the cornerstones of the site is accountability, both personal and group. You hold yourself accountable by posting your daily commitment to remain nic free to your quit group. In turn, if / when you miss or are late in posting role, the group starts reaching out, asking questions, and busting your chops. If they didn't, what would be the point of the forum? You could just write "I cross my heart and hope to die" on a piece of paper every day and be on your merry way.

Check your Inbox. Sending you my #. If you can't post roll or can't be bothered doing so, send me a text each day and I'll do it for you.

Congrats on the job, but make damn sure the extra cash flow doesn't wander back to old devices.

Oh, you didnt have any cravings all day, welp I guess you got'er whooped now. Thats got to be some kind of record to have it all figured out in a matter of days.
And, you must be extra special to come to a site, (where POSTING ROLL DAILY is required), and think you wont catch shit for doing your own thing. Post roll guy, keep your word, and stop with the excuses.

Right, i stayed really busy yesterday dip never crossed my mind until that night when i went to bed then i remembered to come here. 20 days though, i find it really odd though that I'm not having as much trouble as i thought i would and dipped as much as i did.

I think your having more trouble then you realize. 20 days quit and your still thinking about it. Ding, ding, tell you anything sport.

Wake up, mentally is where most of this battle takes place. When you begin realizing that this battle has to be won daily you will be making progress. Keep believing it's easy and one day i fear you will think 1 is ok. There in lies the addiction.

Strive to understand it or fall victim once again. Post roll, or eventually you will be a fart in the wind.

First of all, I'm with the older crowd and call bullshit on your story that you aren't having a hard time. Why? Because you're young and probably have not yet come to terms with the fact that you are in fact susceptible to being an addict even at such a young age. Does the voice in your head sound something like this?

"Addictions are for druggy's and old people who have used tobacco all their lives... I'm not an addict, I'm a young guy who stupidly used this, but whatevs bro, I can quit whenever I want to because I'm a young stud, and all these old fuckers on this site can wish they were as healthy and strong as me...."

Yeah, we've all been there, you're a kid, you've got a lot to learn, and your attitude matters in how long it takes for you to learn it. I hope you figure it out before you too are one day an old guy trying to tell some younger version of himself to wise up and take the free advice.

Post roll, or get out of my quit group. I don't have time for it.

No I'm addicted, I know this. I may not have been using it for as long as many of you guys on here but 5 years is more than enough, it doesn't take much at all. I smoked for probably 6 months and that's not long at all but it was plenty enough for me to be addicted and it took some help for me to stop but I did it. and no maybe it's not as easy as I'm making it out to be but definitely not as hard as I thought. I thought I would have cravings throughout the whole day and be an asshole to everyone but it's not like that at all. Like I said before I don't remember having the first thought about dip yesterday until I had went to bed. I may have even forgotten today if it wasn't for me getting an email telling me that I had a private message on here. Now don't take that the wrong way I'm not blaming this site for reminding me of it!!

I saw you post this on another thread, "I'm new here too and as I've already learned after 3 days you better post role everyday or these people here will get your ass, but they do it for your benefit and not just to be a dick."

If you recall, I singled you out for a weak intro and for thinking you knew what you were doing. I then challenged you to prove me wrong and I would gladly put my foot in my mouth. After reading this statement you made, I just started to untie my shoe. Good stuff fast94. This is the quitter I want to quit with every day; and to that end let's do this.
