Title: whsii newbie
Post by: Wild_Bill on August 12, 2011, 12:16:00 PM
Hello All,

I'm on my third day of being dipless. Using the patch for two weeks. I quit smoking damn near two years ago and now it's time for me to rid myself of tobacco altogether.

What a great site!!

Now, will someone please explain to me how the heck I do 'Roll Call'!!??

Welcome!

There's a "WELCOME CENTER (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13)" link to the left on the menu below the banner. See it?

Flush all nicotine. Did you do that three days ago?

Read 4 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=120) . Do 3 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50). Repeat tomorrow.

Congrats on quiting. Great decision coming here. However do not post roll until you are not using any nicotine. Rip off that patch and quit cold turkey like all of us. The first three days will suck, but using the patch is just pushing the quit off.

PM me if you have any quesitons

What he said.

Get off the patch, it does nothing but delay the inevitable suck. Why not get it done now?

Don't post roll until you throw out all of patches. If for some reason you're still using those things give us the exact date that you will be done with them so we know when to look for your first roll post.

just so as you under stand. you arent adickted to tobaco. your adickted to nickateen. that patch aint gonna help cuz your still feedin the adickshun. the first 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 days with out any nickateen are gonna suck. they can start suckin today or in 2 weeks or 4 weeks or how ever long you keep slappin that pach on. mite as well get the suck out a the way now.

now get your self some seed or fake stuff or candy - man i like the atomick fire balls best - and rip of the pach. imbrase the suck. and rite down how it all feels so any time you think bout cavin you no what comes a head the next time you hafta quit. i never wanna do them first days agin. it sucks. and man rememember one day at a time.

so you are basically admitting that you dont have any balls? when are you going to be brave enough? tomorrow? next year? after you have cancer? if you dont even have the balls to quit then you definitely arent going to have the balls to STAY quit.

seriously, quitting sucks. but all of us here were in your exact same shoes and 4-5 days from now you will be so glad you quit. just man up and embrace the suck for the first couple of days. it may sound impossible, but trust me, you can do it. focus on a day at a time, an hour a time, a minute at a time...whatever it takes. quit prolonging it. there is never a "good" time to quit. just do it.

That pretty mucy sums it up...no time like right now. Reach down, grab your sack and rip that patch off and post Day 1. Cold turkey is the only way to go...it sucks for the first few days, but you also get past the withdrawls much quicker. Tapering off with the patches just extends the misery. Every one of us here has been in the same position, the symptoms of the suck may vary, but the experience is the same. Give yourself three days of shit in exchange for a lifetime of being nicotine free. You can do this, we're here to help.

whsii,
Listen to what these last three dudes have said. They are right on. Man up and rip off that patch. Say you are quit. Be quit. Post roll with November. It's that simple. Then do it again tomorrow. First couple three days will suck like no other. You have to reach down, feel for your man balls, and gut through it. It will get better. I'm 30 days in myself. These guys in here know what they're talking about. Believe them and do it.

Get it done. I'm with you.

It’s ok, I used patches too. 6 years ago I used them for…well started as a three week period. Three steps, right? One week per step. Got to step 2 but just couldn’t go consistently to step 3, the lowest dose. Ended up going back to step 1 for one really stressful day. Three weeks came and past. Five weeks approached and I was spending a fortune on those damn things. So I bummed a chew. I was ashamed I couldn’t GET OFF THE F’N PATCH. Didn’t tell my wife. What the hell, it’s JUST A PATCH, RIGHT? Well, no. It’s not just a patch. It’s not the patch, it’s not the cigaretts, it’s not the dip: It’s nicotine. Period. I’m addicted to nicotine. You know how much pain my little patch mistake has caused me and my family? 45 days ago I told my wife that 6 years ago I never actually quit, I had been lying to her this whole time. I just couldn’t shake the patch – no, I couldn’t shake the nicotine.

You do what you want, but my humble advice is to forget the patch, it is a convenient way of putting off what you really need to do: quit nicotine. You know that flutter in your heartbeat you get 30 minutes after putting on a patch? ThatÂ’s your master, the nic bitch, whipping you because you are not quit. Because youÂ’re not addicted to dip, or even tobacco. ItÂ’s nicotine. Embrace that reality and you might have a fighting chance. PM me when youÂ’re ready to quit, I will be your number 1 cheerleader.

This place is great. The benefit of experience is, all the tricky spots along the way are marked before you get there. Nicotine reduction schemes are one of those trick spots where you can be tricked.

Did you know that you have a better chance of quitting chew if you use a patch? Studies confirm that. But did you also know that after 6 months, you are statistically almost certain to be a nicotine user?

It makes sense, when you think about it. You are telling yourself, RIGHT NOW, that you need to have nicotine. Nicotine is helping you to quit dip. Nicotine is keeping you from feeling bad. Maybe nicotine has got your temper under control, it's curbing your appetite, giving you muscles in all the right places and helping you win at darts.

People here say that nicotine can't do anything for them, except keep them using nicotine. That's why they are quit, and you are not.

Don't wait until tomorrow. We cannot help you tomorrow. We only work with today.

Rip off the patch and quit today. Tomorrow or whenever is not going to work. Your mind will always come up with reasons to wait a little more.

Admit you are addicted to Nicotine. Dump the shit, tear off the patch, fight through the suck like the rest of us did and join us in FREEDOM !!

Today is the day !!

it's all been said. not much more to add other than this:
Quote
HEROIN is bad and addictive, so shooting HEROIN into my arm is bad.  but so is smoking it.  or sucking on a piece of HEROIN gum.  or having a sweet patch that slowly releases HEROIN into my bloodstream.  HEROIN is bad.  HEROIN is addictive.  Continuing to take HEROIN, no matter the delivery system, is stupid and only feeds my addiction.  I should completely stop taking HEROIN in any form for the sake of my health and well being.  the first couple days will suck bad, but with a strong support network, and some guts, i'll be free of HEROIN.
i think we can all agree that heroin is bad. you certainly would suggest that a junkie strung out on heroin just switch from shooting up to smoking it as a way to quit, would you?

well, let's switch out heroin and put in nicotine:
Quote
NICOTINE is also bad and addictive.  putting NICOTINE in my lip is bad, but so is smoking it.  or sucking on a piece of NICOTINE gum.  or having a sweet patch that slowly releases NICOTINE into my bloodstream.  NICOTINE is bad.  NICOTINE is addictive.  continuing to use NICOTINE, no matter the delivery system, is stupid and only feeds my addiction.  i should completely stop using NICOTINE in any form for the sake of my health and well being.  the first couple of days will suck bad, but with a strong support network, and some guts, i'll be free of NICOTINE.
what suddenly makes the patch or gum a good idea?

here's the real newsflash, whsii. YOU'RE A JUNKIE. stop allowing your rotted junkie brain to rationalize why continuing to use the chemical you're addicted to is okay. it isn't. time to man up, sunshine. the first three days without nicotine are bad, but they'll be bad whenever you stop using nicotine. it'll be bad today, and it'll be bad in 3 weeks when you (theoretically... see DennyX's perfect post below) quit those patches that you've spend a ton of money on.

what are you waiting for? tomorrow? no one quits tomorrow. every quitter quits today.

I won't be your cheerleader. You're a coward. No balls. "when I am brave enough"? How the hell do you get up and face the world everyday? You should stay in bed. God forbid you should have to tap the inner strength that the rest of us did to fight addiction. The strength we use everyday to fight to make us complete. To make us responsible dads, good partners, outstanding fire fighters, leaders of our military, caring doctors, cops protecting the rest of us, all kinds of folks. They have shown they have the balls to do it. No one is special here. We just made the decision to take back our lives and be who we were meant to be.

Ditto on this. In my humble opinion, you are wasting our time by coming in here and having that attitude and quite frankly it does not help a pussy like me see it. We need strength in here and confidence and your comments do not express that. Are you fucking serious? Not ready to give up putting the patch on? Please. You are simply continuing to be controlled by the nicotine demon in your head. After many years of heavy use I finally had enough and joined this site, utilized the resources and am continuing to remain quit everyday. If my sorry ass can do it then you certainly can. It takes one thing in my opinion....the thing that Souliman said you do not have with your attitude ---- BALLS. Man up and get proactive here - we'll support you.

LISTEN UP WHSII UPON A STAR...During the Hyborian age, a man was bestowed a sword to fight both evil of this world and that of sorcery. You, my friend, have reached that crossroad. With your mighty sword you shall travel the lands...seeking riches and bitches. When you meet the foul mouth of the nicotine heathen, you shall unleash your
massive steel and plunge it deep into the nether region of that creighton. You'll slay that devil keep its spine to hang from your codpiece as a reminder of
your triumph over evil. This you shall do...
