Title: Intro
Post by: MVK on June 18, 2014, 02:18:00 PM
Hello All- Been dipping for 25 years. I can't believe its been that long, I started my freshman year of college. Exam week and everyone was either smoking, drinking coffee or dipping. I had tried and knew I didn't like smoking or coffee so I tried my roommates dip. Can't believe it's been 25 years.

Chewed skoal long cut wintergreen for about 15 years and the last 10 or so have chewed grizzly.

I live outside of Columbus, Ohio. Been married for 14 years to a wonderful lady and have two children. My daughter is 13 and my son is 10.

Quitting constantly on my mind the last few years. Monday morning I had my last dip. Flushed everything in my possession down the toilet and threw away my spitters. Day 3 today and Im going to do it.....if I could just figure out how to post roll on my iPad. Help

Mark

Looks like you got the roll posting figured out. Now all you have to do is finish the day off keeping your word. Post roll again tomorrow and repeat. One day at a time.

Keep reading up on here and get acquainted with folks. Exchange your number with some of the Sept Sultans so you have some accountability. Jump in the deep end. The water is fine and everything is much clearer once you get through the first week or so.

The online chat is a good tool too.

Welcome to the site.

Find some very important time and sit down and spend a few hours reading. Then read some more.

What we do, works. It works better than the patch, it works better than gum, it works better than going it alone. You need to learn how we do it, and follow the process. Get involved. Establish some contacts. Put a quit plan together. Get involved on the site. One day, you can pay it all forward.

You've got the site, which means - you've got this quit. You need to do your part.

Welcome.

MVK,

Welcome. Can't add much to what the veterans have said here other than I'm still in the middle of the SUCK, but it does help having this community of BAQs. Sending you my digits on PM if you need to chat.

Welcome Mark. Best decision you've made in the last 14 years or so. Build your quit by building relationships with some Sultans. I'll quit with you every day you put yourself and your family ahead of the poison.

As everyone said post roll every day. Stay in touch with this community.
There will be times when I'd feel like giving up... but don't ever. Not everyone gets a second chance.
It is life or death, don't let nic bitch take control of you life.

Had to put this into my intro to look back upon many days, weeks, and years from now. Had some friends over Friday night and had some drinks. One of my buddies is a dipper and smoker. He just smoked and no dip in front of me that night. He and his wife had too many to drive home so spent the night in our finished basement. Today (Wednesday) I was in the basement and noticed some of the pillows on the sectional where they slept were in the wrong spot so decided to fix them. As I'm putting them in the correct spots I find a can of grizzly (my old brand) in the cushions. I knew immediately it was my buddies who had slept there. Only felt about one second of panic. Took a deep breath and smiled. Flushed it immediately. I did however text a picture of it to my wife who was out shopping and when she begged me to throw it away I told her I couldn't. I waited about 5 minutes and then texted her we don't "throw it away"... we flush it

Day 31 and I feel good and strong. Thanks to this site and all on it.

Quiet in this intro, let me bring it around again ... Big congrats on the HOF today! The 1st floor is nice, what with the 2-ply toilet paper and all. You are no where near done though! Keep adding those +1's, see you on the 2nd floor (and many more)!

MVK - enjoyed your write-up today in joining the Hall of Fame, especially your comment about not cutting story time short so you could go throw in a dip. I have a 4 year old and I could totally relate. I now take my sweet time reading bedtime stories to my daughter and I enjoy every minute of it not even thinking about the bullshit lies of nicotine.

Your comment made my quit stronger today and I'm proud to quit with you! Congrats!

Sitting at dinner table this evening and my teenage daughter looks at me and out of the blue says "dad I had a dream you started dipping again, it was scary." She's hardly mentioned my quit in the 8 months since my quit date. I thought she was so busy wrapped up in her own world she didn't even notice. Today, day 235, is a great day to be quit.

Dip dreams within the family... Stark reality of how our actions impact the ones we love the most. Nice job taking back your life. I am proud to be quit with you today!
