Whats good everyone? I guess this is my chance to introduce myself to all of you. Um, so first I'm 27, 28 in October, from Washington DC (or just outside the city that is). I got two little girls, 3 years and 6 months. I married my highschool sweetheart, been married for 5 years in October. Um, I've play baseball my entire life, since I was 3 years old. In 2007 I tore my labrum, but I kept playing, just that tear ended my collegiate playing. This last year, I stopped baseball all together and move straight to softball.
Um, so about my habit, which i quit today huh? I start dipping when I was 17. First started with long cut, then sometime in college, I "quit" for a while, 4 or 5 months, before my little brother came to my school and of course brought that shit with him, and he introduced me to pouches. And well, except for stopping for a month or two, or "slowing down" here and there surrounding maybe the 1 and only dentist appointment I've had in 5 years, I've pretty much been a 1 can a day, skoal mint pouches dipper. Yea, I work in an office, I'd ghost that lipper every day. I really had no shame, and besides in front of my parents, I'd dip in front of anyone / at any location / any time.
Um, so that's me. I posted roll call today, but I fucked the whole thing up. I'll do better with that tomorrow.
Nice to be here, looking forward to some Suck coming up here shortly. But one day at a time, and as of today, I'm quit.

N8R (or I assume Nate),
Welcome to KTC. There are quite a few of us that started our addiction because of a sport related event. You seem to sound like you want to quit and I wish you the best. The next 4-5 days are going to be tough for you, and the first 2-3 weeks, then cravings come and go after that.
Make a plan sort of a bug out bag, plan some exercises, drink lots of water, have gum, mints, fake dip everywhere around you. Do no leave any door open for the Nic Bitch to come lure you back.
If you have any existing tobacco dump it out in the toilet and hit the magical silver lever that makes it disappear.
I wrote you a long PM message that should be in your (inbox) in the upper right corner of your window.
PM me if you need anything and be strong.

Welcome to the fold N8R.
You have made not one of, but THE BEST decision of your life. Wife is great, kids are awesome, but they will all be taken by that sneaky little nic bitch, so this is in fact the BEST decision.
The suck will come. The suck will suck. Embrace it. Remember the way you feel and know that you NEVER have to feel that way again. Never again a Day 1. Never again a Day 2. If you never let the nic in your system, you will never have to withdraw it. This is not to say that once the nic is out it is an easy path forward. It takes balls. Not baseballs, Not softballs, but giant steel wrecking size balls to push through the fog and the mind games, the craves, and the irritability. But the freedom is worth it.
Post Roll. Keep Word. Repeat. Simple philosophy that will lead you to the promised land. Water and Exercise help too.
Glad you are joining the battle.
Check you inbox for a PM with my number.

Whats good everyone?
The fact that you are quit.
Um, so about my habit, which i quit today huh?
You don't have a habit. You have an addiction.
I posted roll call today, but I fucked the whole thing up.
No worries. As long as you posted, we're golden.
....looking forward to some Suck coming up here shortly.
The only suck you should look forward to has nothing to do with nicotine. The withdrawal suck is a painful reminder that you should not cave.
But one day at a time, and as of today, I'm quit.
Damn if that ain't a beautiful statement. Law and gospel, bro.
Give me a shout if you need anything.

I'm excited for you N8R. Great choice to quit. You can do it.
I cannot stress enough that you need to get connected with the people here, and not just by posting roll. Sounds like Brink gave you his number. Use it. Send me yours if you need someone else to hound you through the beginning stages.
Just remember that you don't have to make the choice to dip again. You don't have to be weak. As a collegiate athlete you know something about hard work and discipline. You will need both.
I know you can do this, and I also know that it won't be easy. We will help if you let us.

Found your post in roll yesterday. I'll be looking out for your daily posts; first few days suck and you might get demoted or fired. Just kidding, but hang in there and just fake your way through the day knowing this will pass quickly the hard part follows. It's easier when you know other bro's have been there and are behind you all the way.
