Title: New Beginning
Post by: packbrat on January 26, 2016, 09:18:00 AM
Good morning, my name is George. I have been an addict of nicotine for most of my life. Cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, nicotine gum...you name it.

I know that the toxins in smokeless tobacco are doing my body no favors. I tried to quit this addiction several times in the past, only to return time after time. I came across this web site this morning...After reading the website a couple hours, I realized I didn't have to do this alone! I took out my last chew  tossed my open can in the trash...the time was 8:08. I know that this could be my best chance for me to quit for good. There is something very powerful belonging to a group of like minded individuals with the same goal. I'll need the support and encouragement from as many of you as possible. Together, we can do this.

George

Hey George,

Welcome aboard. Go find May 2016 in quit groups and post your day 1 there because that will be your home group. Click on this link to get you to your quit group. May 2016 (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11505241/19/#new)

Post your promise not to use nicotine first thing to start your day, honor your promise for that day, and then repeat. You will have to endure the nicotine withdrawal for a few days, but it will get out of your system. Drink plenty of water, exercise, and read as much as you can in here.

I quit with you.

Welcome George,

You have come to the right place. We have support and encouragement in spades. We also have brotherhood and accountability. This begins with posting roll. Your roll post is your promise to not use nicotine in any form for today. Here is your quit group May '16 (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11505241/19/#new). Come on over and get this quit going.

George,

If you are having trouble posting roll, don't worry. Most of us did. Here are some tips.

1. Login, go to your quit page, think about what you are going to post.
2. Find the most recent post
3. hit F5 or refresh the page
4. Press "quote" on the roll
5. Click in the box that has all of the Roll posts (the lower box), hit CTRL-A to select all and Press CTRL-X to CUT, not copy-if you copy, then you'll double post roll.
6. Click to the reply window and press CTRL+V to paste it in. Then write in your name, day and your promise
7. Press submit-done.

Nice job, George.

Fucking Day One.

I'm not going to tell you about how quitting sucks. You know that it sucks. That's why you're here. You've tried to quit before and messed it up because you caved in to the suckiness. I don't have any advice on how to quit...like drinking water, exercising, chew wood shavings, hit a punching bag, etc. The thing is, to be successful, you only have to want to quit, and the way to do that is, WHATEVER IT TAKES TO NOT INGEST NICOTINE TODAY.

Promise us all not to use nicotine today, and then keep your promise. Tomorrow will take care of itself.

I'm with you all day today.
