Title: 1st day - new quitter
Post by: grizzlydepressed on May 29, 2019, 04:59:10 PM
Hello Quitters,

Name is Ryan, I'm 35, and I've relied on alcohol (167 days sober) and tobacco to ease that pain while working in a career I was damn good at but also hated. Now I'm here, recommended by my brother, who also quit. Today is day 1 but that's all I really know. The 1st article I clicked on was the fog article and boy, they are 100% right. I couldn't kick a raccoons ass right now, even if I wanted to, can't concentrate, brain is pure jello but hey, now is the time, I can't do it anymore.

Hey brother-welcome. Yes, the next few days will suck ass. Embrace the suck. I tell fellas, the nice thing about this is, if you stay quit, you never have to go through this again. It will get so much better. Get involved in your group. Post roll every morning when you get up. It’s your promise that nicotine is off the travel as a option for that day. We take it one day at a time, one hour at a time if need be. We worry about tomorrow when and if it rolls around. Exchange phone numbers will your group and some of the vets on here. It’s a life saver. Mine are only a PM away if you need anything at all. Stay strong brother.

Welcome buddy.  Today is my first day as well.  Taking it hour by hour.  I've gotten tons of support all day and believe it will continue day in and day out.  Just hold yourself accountable and show up tomorrow morning to post.

Welcome man. I know the feeling. Dip got me through a couple years of 80 hour work weeks. Teaching myself how to concentrate on things I don't enjoy has been interesting with no nicotine. But I'm getting there! ODAAT is really the truth. Day 19 for me

Welcome aboard.   Hope you are ready to change your life....because that is the way to quit.   Wanting to quit, is easy....I’m sure you’ve wanted to quit for a long time.   What works on this site is discipline, and accountability.   Post role every day, as a reminder to yourself, that you are changing who you are.   You are an addict....and unfortunately will always be an addict.   So to make this stick you have to come to terms with that, and know that caving isn’t a one day thing.   No one fucks up and starts quitting again immediately ...that’s not how addiction works.
Quitting sucks...until it doesn’t.   And that will take a long time.   But believe me...it’s worth the shit you are putting yourself through right now.  Also although I haven’t taken one on, I assume kicking a racoon’s ass isn’t easy...too quick.   So not being able to kick ones ass right now is pretty normal.   Good luck with you quit.
