So my names Alex and I just graduated nursing school. No more school, just life ahead of me. Staying true to my nature I decided to quit because I’m done with one major milestone that made me realize: I can do anything. Well now I’m a few hours shy of 24 hours quit. I’ve tried before but never make it past 72 hours. I have some new strategies but wondering if anyone has any other tips. I’m turning 27 soon, getting married in 2 months and want to leave this dip shit in the past with old me and start a new life without that damn crutch. Thank you all, I’m sure I’ll see u in chat.

Step one is the decision to quit. Step two is to join your month click here (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=15899.msg0#new)and post your promise every day. Drink a lot of water to flush your system. There's some links in my signature about nicotine and addiction. Educate yourself. Knowledge is power; ignorance is terribly expensive.

Thanks for that post definitely needed it. Great reads while I was having a craving. Got to the part where it talks about cravings lasting about 3 minutes and realized my own crave was over. I can do this. Only 54 hours to go.

@NurseFarmer (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=15672) we quit one day at a time (ODAAT) here at KTC. Not sure what happens in 54 hours. You should head over to the January 2020 group and post roll. Here is the link https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=15899.0 . We post our promise first thing in the morning to stay nicotine free and then keep our promise for the balance of the day. Once you start posting roll you meet other quitters in your group and with some effort you with create a sister/brotherhood with a bunch of other quitters. Those relationships are huge. First step - go post roll.

ALEX YOU ARE EXACTLY ME AFEW YEARS AGO. it is uncanny and kind of eerie. I quit right after nursing school too with a similar timeline (except age). You can do it!!!! DONT DO WHAT I DID AND PICK IT BACK UP AFTER 2 YEARS OF BEING QUIT. DONT LET YOUR MIND SAY YOURE A HOSS AND CAN HAVE JUST ONE.

I can tell you I will never go down that road again. Made it 7 days and told myself, I’ll just have one and here we are 5 years later. This one is for good. I always did it for someone else, but this time it’s for me and only me. This time there’s no ultimatum of when I could dip again like terminal illness or when I’m retired. This is it. No more ever.

Don’t worry about forever. We quit one day at a time and sometimes shorter. Wake up piss post. Keep your promise and repeat the next day. Only other job is making relationships. Before you know the days add up. You got this. PM me if you want digits.
