Title: Marmadukian here, quitting, at last.
Post by: marmadukian on December 20, 2019, 10:53:07 AM
I found this forum a few days ago, and waited till I had no responsibilities to quit. Been smoking since I was 17, 30 now. I quit for a few months when I was a young adult, but picked up again. I've been browsing this place for a few days after someone from an AA chatroom pointed me this way. Said there was support here, which is something I found very helpful when I was quitting alcohol. I'm not looking forward to today, but I can promise to take it ODAAT and WUPP. My head hurts already, but I have some video games and easy food to make so I don't need to leave the house.

Welcome.

Nice job posting roll. Keep doing that early every morning. That way you take nicotine off the table for the rest of the day, as long as you keep your promise.

There are a few former smokers around here. Obviously, most of us were dippers/chewers of smokeless tobacco. But we all fought the same drug - nicotine.

Make your promise, keep your promise. Exchange digits with others in your group, and a few vets too. Mine are a PM away.

Hey @marmadukian (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=16368) welcome man.  Glad you are here.  You are right, there is plenty of support coming your way.  Exchange numbers with other March 2020 quitters and some vets (sending you a PM).  Drink drink drink water, you’re going to need to help flush out those toxins.  Get you something (seeds, candy, gum, fake snuff, caffeine pouches, mints, etc.) if needed to replace the oral fixation.  These first few are the hardest, but we’ll help you pull through it.  And it truly only gets better with time, so have some patience.  Get active as well if you can, exercise or just staying busy with something can take your mind off that crap.  PTQWYT

Welcome Marmadukian,
Glad you joined us in March 2020 PreHOF and posted an intro here.  I found KTC from google searches.  I also have been in twelve step groups related to other substances.  Last month I celebrated 25 years clean from alcohol and narcotics.  While I had some time away from nicotine, I took the freedom from nicotine for granted.  I was glad to see the strong support offered here.  Today is my day 3 of the Quit.
