Title: Here I go....
Post by: GJCB1976 on July 14, 2020, 12:27:05 AM
Hello, all!  I'm so excited to find this site.  I've been chewing for 25 years and I REALLY need to quit!  I've tried 100 times in the past,  but never made it over 6 months.  It's such an enternal struggle.   I know I need to, but my mind always seems to win.  I'm hoping to find some support and accountability on this site.

Welcome GJCB,

This is a no nicotine site so if you are still using you d to flush that crap down the toilet right now.  Head on over to the October 2020 Quit Group (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=16602.855) and learn how to post roll.  Post your day one promise not to use any nicotine for the next 24 hours.

The process is simple here:

1. Wake Up
2. Piss
3. Post your promise to remain nicotine free for 24 hours
4. Keep your word, whatever it takes.
5. Repeat daily.

Check your private message inbox as Quitters will be sending you their phone numbers.  Those numbers are your lifeline when you need support, they are also the beginning of your web of accountability and brotherhood.  Make sure you reciprocate with your number but only through private message.

This I’d going to suck.  Embrace the suck.  Use it as your motivation that you never want to go through this again.

Some day in the not distant future, it won’t suck so bad and eventually it will be down right better.

You can do this, we have all been where you are at now.  Lean on us and don’t even think about caving.  You better be calling one of us before you fill your lip with cancer weed.

Let’s do this.

Chris

Welcome aboard @GJCB1976 (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=18028) As a fellow addict of 30 plus years your in for a major change. As @chris2alaska (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=130) said you wake up, post and piss. Make that your promise to yourself and your group for just that day. Concentrate on just that day and worry tomorrow when it gets here. Its going to be tough but YES as Chris said EMBRACE THE SUCK AS A RIGHT OF PASSAGE, I did. Reach out to the group, listen to the vets, read read read all over the site. You will find strength when you stay close to the site, I did. You have become part of a big family and we have your six but you are in charge of your 12. You protect that with your life. Be safe, be strong and God bless.

Thanks, guys!  I woke up this morning and immediately reached for "the can" but it wasn't there.  My next step was to check the site and I saw these messages.  That was great.  Thank you!

@GJCB1976 (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=18028)  Its a great feeling to have support from people who have walked the walk or slid down the same splintered banister as you. Now head over and post your promise in roll. This site can be and will be hard nose and on your butt. The sooner you post the better it is. So I will keep checking for your post. You got this and we are with you.

Welcome to the fold, GJCB.

You mentioned in your intro that your mind beat you in the past. Here's the thing, though. That wasn't your mind; that was the Nicodemon in your mind, controlling you. To beat the demon, you've got to get hard. You've got to get mean with yourself. Fight, dammit. It's YOUR life!

Ask yourself, "Do I want to keep allowing this thing, this evil, deadly worm dirt, to control my life? How many more days are my balls gonna be in that can?" TAKE YOUR LIFE BACK.

ODAAT. One Day At A Time. Buddy, that's all we at KTC expect of you. We don't ask you to promise next week or next year or even tomorrow. Just today. 24 hours.

Now, that life you're taking back is gonna suck for a while. You're gonna go through some mental, physical, and emotional shitstorms for a while. Ride it out. Now you're among people who've been right where you are. Hell, we're all still there. We may have more days quit, but we're all just one dip away from day 1. We're addicts, just like you.

Post up in October. There are some great new quitters there who'd welcome another quit brother. Trade digits with them and with some vets. As Chris said, those digits are lifelines.

If your quit demands you to walk through hell, walk like you own the place. Stay hard, and stay quit.

If you really want to kill the can and rid this poison from your life... go over and join the badass quitters of October 2020  and post your promise not to use today.  Then tomorrow, do it all over again.  Keep your promise.  Be a man of integrity.  Kick the nicotine bitch to the curb!  You can do it GJCB1976!

@GJCB1976 (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=18028)

Don't walk away man.  If you had a scare and it wasn't what you thought it was, it will be back or there will be another.  Maybe you think it will be easier tomorrow, next week, month, etc...it isn't.  You can probably dip through the summer...quitting in the fall is easier...NOT.  ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC.....

I used for about the same time.  Nicotine was perhaps the most constant thing in my adult life.  I succumbed to all of those excuses over the years and, in the end, only regretted not quitting earlier.  NOW is the time.  You know it.  Post roll.  PM me and you can have my digits and lean on me, and many others, to get you through this.  C'mon brother.  This is your time.

YOU WILL BE STRONGER FOR IT!!
