Title: Day 1 attempt 9 life or death.
Post by: Sledrider on October 17, 2020, 08:32:09 PM
Well hello everyone, i am new to this site but not new to quitting. I’ve had 8 attempts making this my 9th. But this one is different from the rest. I have had a stroke at the age of 25, which was 4 years ago. Since then i have had all kinds of side effects. Now due to new findings, the doctors have claimed that a lot of my side effects are from tobacco use. They also say with continued use my conditions are bound to be worse and more frequent. So this morning i have decided i will be quit and i will find some support to actually stick to it this time. I am navy so stress levels are always high so this will not be easy. From what I’ve seen i believe this is a great group that will actually help. Thanx for the read folks and can’t wait to hear from y’all.

@Sledrider (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=18563) I am going to lay some hard truth on you right now. You ARE new to quitting. Those other 8 times you just stopped for a while. Is this going to be your 9th time stopping or your 1st time quitting. Quitting means for good. I dipped for 20 years and stopped many times. I am now quit. I am quit because I now know I will never use again. I took it off the table. It no longer controls me and I truly pity those that it still does.
2nd, this is not a support group. You are Navy so think of this as basic. If you miss your daily roll post, your promise to us to stay nicotine free, we are going to ride your ass. We are here for one reason only. To hold you accountable. If you act like a bitch we will treat you like one. If you need to lash out then do it here, we don't care.
Glad you decided to quit. Press on.

Doesn't get much simpler than this ^^^. You need to step up, and stop trying to quit and just quit.  Commit to it. Decide that that is what you want. Until you can make that decision, there will only be stoppages

These guys are correct. Focus on quitting one day at a time. Don’t worry about the future. We will deal with tomorrow when it gets here. Also, get to know some quitters on the site. Those relationships will go a long way in keeping you quit. Quitting takes work and time. Can’t expect to pack you’re lip with shit for years and then everything function as normal when you stop. Be patient. The light will get so much brighter at the end of the tunnel. You can do this.
