Title: Technically 5th Day
Post by: dipster on September 19, 2018, 01:37:50 PM
Here's to Day 5. I'm glad I wasn't here to annoy everyone during days 1-4. It's not as bad as I thought because I'm actually quitting, not simply "delaying when I start back up again". How long does this fog last?

Welcome. How long the fog lasts varies for everyone. What I can tell you is that on day 5 you are through the worst of the suck. The fog will slowly lift, and you will be back to normal over the course of the next week or so.

Go to http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=52.0 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=52.0) your December quit group, and learn to post roll. That's our secret to remaining quit.

If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to send me a message.

Proud to quit with you.

Hi Dipster, welcome to the club of those who have decided to quit! In regards to your question about the fog, thats different for everyone. Its subjective and the fog affects everyone differently. What I can tell you is that as time goes on, things do get better. You'll have some highs and you'll have some lows, the most important thing is to make your promise daily. Don't think about tomorrow, in a week, in a month, just think about in the moment and how you made that promise to quit for today. Post roll every day, reach out to others, get involved and you will succeed, get digits, give digits. It seems weird at first but once you get used to it, it makes a difference. A huge difference. Happy to help in any way I can!

Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

This is a short intro. Its nice to see everyone. Well this is it. I have been off dip since Saturday. I used to smoke for 13 years in the military. Marlboro reds. I then switched to Grizzly WG one day in 2005 after 2 weeks of not smoking due to bronchitis. It hurt to inhale the smoke.

My road to quit started when my doctor that I have been seeing for my ADD prescribed Bupropion for mild depression. That was 2 months ago that I started that med.

Funny thing is that not only did the meds help me with the depression but it also made me feel like I never wanted a drink or do anything habit wise. And I've been getting sick to my stomach if I did too much dip. I heard that bupropion can do that.

Saturday morning I realized I didn't have any dip. So after a few hours I noticed that I didn't have much of an urge to dip. So I waiting for 4 hours and I started noticing a bit of the addiction/crave kicking in. Anyway to make a long story short I read a ton of stuff on this site and also watched a couple quit videos. This kept my mind off my crave. I remember quitting cigarettes was much harder. The bupropion is definitely working to keep my mind off craves. Today is day 5 and I got a big crave this morning and afternoon. I figured it might have something to do with blood sugar. I treat all my craves as if I need food. So I got some orange juice and a cookie. I seem better. Hope everyone is doing good. Matt

You can't find 30 seconds each day to post roll? I find that hard to believe. Dipster you sound like a nice and sincere guy but posting roll is what this site is all about. We make a daily promise not to use tobacco, then we keep that promise for one day. That is the formula I along with thousands of others here have used to quit.

You certainly don't have to do anything, but let me ask you another thing ... why are you here? If you're using the site to strengthen your quit, I can get behind that. Sure would like you to get some people on your side, and in your corner though. Quitting solo, with little or no support is not gonna stick. There's a reason you wandered on to this site ... there's a reason why after reading a bunch you decided to post an intro. What was that reason? The difference between here and all the other people you've told "I'm quit" (you did tell everyone, right?) is that every last quitter here has gone through exactly the things you've gone through ... and will go through. Why not get people like that in your corner? Seriously Matt ... I would really like to hear those answers.

You're sorry alright, and yes... that will be a problem. A HUGE fucking problem.

If you think you're the only one who's busy with work, kids, etc...then you're fucking nuts, and you're pretty much insulting every person on this site.

You want to quit? Then find THIRTY Fucking seconds each day to post role. You used to find time to stuff your cake hole full of grizzly, you sure as fuck can find time to post your promise not to use.

Your weak ass nonsense don't play here. You're not too busy to post, you just don't want to commit to doing it each day. If you cannot commit to that, then you are not committed to quitting.

I'm an expert in bullshit, Sport and this is some grade A cow dung.

Pull your fucking head out of your ass and get with the program.

Love it. Welcome Dipster. I'm really glad you found KTC. The only way it has worked for me is to post roll EVERY day and get involved on this site. I joined in March with the June group and fucked up around day 68. My problem was I only commited to Kill the Can part-way. I didn't get fully invested by using phone numbers, texting guys, etc. After a day of stupidity, I came back and just celebrated 100 days today. If I can do it you can too. There are other options for quitting chewing tobacco out there. This site is for people who are addicts and can't find success with any other option. This site is for people who are ALL IN. Take advantage of this opportunity to save your life.

Hey pal, let me clue you in on something. We are all human, we all make mistakes, thats life. You want to try your reverse psychology on people here thats your decision. But for god sake please dont push your political stifling ways down peoples neck. It really is a turn off.

Do you go down the street hitting poor people over the head and telling them they are stupid? Whats the matter with you.

Right now I am thinking "are they all like this?" What hellish war did I enter and why am I the enemy?

Dipster-
Everyone here is trying to help- it may not always seem like that but different messages reach different people. Take what works for you and forget the rest.

The one constant is roll. It's taken very seriously because the guys that have been around know that it is an effective part of staying quit.

It sounds strange but it works if you are a man of your word. Get up, piss, post roll. Posting roll is about giving your word that you will not use nicotine that day. And you can do anything for 24 hours right?

Everyday you took the time, probably multiple times a day, to feed your addiction. Now it's time to do the opposite. Everyday, multiple times a day you need to feed your QUIT and it starts by posting roll and making that promise.

And if a couple of guys posts can run you off this easy, you may not have the fortitude to stay quit. These are just words on a computer screen- the real hellish war you entered is the battle against your nicotine addiction- wait until that starts stomping all over your ass. It's going to fight like hell to get you to take a lipper of poison or a drag from a cancer stick. You have abused nicotine for a long time and it's not going to go away easily.

You can't half ass this, if you really want to quit you have to be all in, it has to be a commitment.

Just like your addiction was a priority- stuffing your face with poison to get your fix was a priority- your QUIT has to be a priority, posting roll has to be a priority. If you really want to stay quit don't just post roll and run, build a network of others on this site, use the live chat, read something new on here once a day, help others with their quit.

You have to own it. You have to commit to it.

What mistake did you make and what political rambling did I push????

How's this...

Yeah man, it's ok if you don't post roll, that won't be a problem. This site doesn't revolve around posting role, it's just kind of an optional thing everyon does, so you're all good. Wow, you have work AND kids to watch. Then yeah, there's no way you can post role every day.

Just kind of check in from time to time when you get some free time and everything should be good. This quitting stuff is pretty easy, so don't even worry about it.

Well, see ya when we see ya. Good luck!

Really couldn't have put this any better. Plus, right now you're only seeing a gruffness that exists maybe 2% of the time around here. 5% if it's a wednesday.

Once you come in and start posting roll, hold yourself accountable, and support others in their quit, it will be tufted satin pillows and rose petal walkways all day long.

What you meant: Hey guys I like what you go going on here. This whole quit thing. I read everything on the site, and I am in total agreeance with what you got going on. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Except...well, except for that one thing. The cornerstone of the site, the foundation for everyone's success, yeah, I'm not gonna be able to do that.

Maybe you can understand why you've upset some people. Can quitting on your own work, sure. But it's proven that you have a better chance (with a higher success rate) if you do it our way. Our way involves posting roll every day. And if you don't have 30 seconds to do that, then congratulations man, you are the busiest person in the world, and you won't have time to dip anyway.

Diesel-
If what you said ran a guy off, it only means he wasn't truly committed, and to quit you have to be 100% committed. He was looking for an excuse, an easy way to cave. He would never make it and thinning the herd of the weak makes it stronger.

If he really wants to stay quit he'll be back on here and he'll swallow some of his pride, he'll realize he's not so special after all- that he's a nicotine addict like the rest of us and that if he's serious about staying quit he probably needs to heed some of the advice being doled out.

If he doesn't come back we can focus our attention on others who really want to quit.

Dipster- I hope you come back. I hope you realize that being addicted to nicotine is serious and therefore quitting is serious. If you aren't going to put in the time to quit then this isn't the place for you.

Quitting is these guys business. They know how to do it.

Q: How much time did you spend obtaining and ingesting nicotine? Go ahead. Add it up. Car rides, time away from those kids. Nic breaks from work. On and on and on.

Q: Ok, is it less than the time it will take to post roll or more?

Q: What is your life worth?

Answer those questions and make your decision. It is your time. It is your health. It is your life. Don't bring addict talk in here. You have the time to post roll if you choose to allocate the time to post roll. Everyone one of us is professional grade "A" addicts. We recognize addict talk. Back to you. Are you ready to bring the quit or are you ready to spend a bunch of time spooning with the nic-bitch?

Most of you don't know me. My name is Matt and I just turned 40 on August 27th. I can now say that I am a quitter for good! Thanks to God...and also to you good people as well.

Originally, I came to this website looking for a place to plant my thoughts and look for people engaged in quitting just as I did. The past few months have been strenuous and downright painful. I was a sucker for 15 years and dipped the past 5. Of all my previous attempts at quitting (over 20) this time I decided I was done. August 16th is when I decided to get off this roller coaster and quit for good. I was just sick of the nicotine controlling me. I just didn't need it anymore.

It's been 104 days since I quit cold turkey on Sunday Aug 16. I originally planned to post roll every day but I chickened out and thought I could do it my own way. Fortunately I was able to do it. Although I couldn't recommend it to everyone. Some need more support than others. I also attribute part of my success to the Wellbutrin the doc gave me for my adult ADD a few months ago. Anyway it seemed to work just as well with addiction.

The reason I wanted to post this isn't because I wanted to exalt myself and my success. No, the reason I did it was to thank this site and all of you for the infinite wisdom and insight of your articles. Thank you...thank you..thank you!

after a few more caves, come back when you're serious.
