I've been a addict to smokeless tobacco since I was 16 years old. I've been a can and a half a day for the past 7 years. This is my second attempt at quitting. The first, which was 4 years ago, lasted one year and then leaped off and it was like I never stopped. This time it seems even more daunting after the previous quit. I'm completely miserable after 12 hours and 35 minutes without a dip. But this is for my health. This is for the opportunity to walk my daughter down the aisle. This is for the ability to say a poisonous substance does not have complete control over me and every decision I make. I'm hoping this group helps me really go the distance this time. I need a shift in perspective that will change my life.

Congrats on the quit Lemer! This is the absolute best place to get the help and accountability needed to quit this crap! Im only on day 9 today and can already say I am feeling so much better than the past 7 years I dipped, also only 9 days in and I am glad and proud to be quit.
Push through the hell of the first week and youll start to see the light on the other side and it only gets better from there!
Get numbers from other guys quitting with you and USE THOSE NUMBERS. Thats been huge for me is staying in contact with not only the vets who have so much wisdom due to their success in their quit but also the guys who are deep in the suck with you.
Sending you my digits, use em man! Bitch me and the guys in your group out when you need to, we can take it and we will do the same when we need to because we're all quitting and we have all been where youre at!

Welcome Lemer! Listen, you've "stopped" tobacco before but you never quit. Here we quit forever but we do it together each and every day.
Definitely read everything you can here at the site but here's a few pointers; WUPP. Wake Up Piss Post. Post everyday and post early. And by posting, you are promising to not to use tobacco (in any form) today. Tomorrow, we do it again. We are accountable to each other and your word is everything. As SD stated, gets some quit brother digits as it makes you all that more accountable and you'll have immediate support if ever needed. PM me if you want to share digits.
So yea, your miserable. But embrace this pain (commonly referred to as embracing the suck) because the body is healing and its a reminder for how much of a hold this substance has on you. Remember this time as well because it will be a great deterrent from caving. What can't we do taking it a day at a time? It gets better so keep on quittin.
Proud of you making this life choice. Welcome to the brotherhood.

Today is the first day of many days that I have quit. Last time was for 2 months, but didn't have any support to push me through the hard times. So......heck caseys is only a block away done deal chewing again. But this time is different. I found KTC. My hardest times are.... I'm a gunsmith and when I'm trying to load a small spring and fit it in a slot the push a pin into it and the phone rings or someone comes in, I'm nervous and jittery as a cat on a hot roof, and want to bite the barrel in half. But with some support from you and my lord I will win...
A little bit more about myself..... as I said I'm a gunsmith been smithing for 40 years or so I'm almost 60. We also own and operate a Automotive Part Store and operate a gun shop in it also. So it makes for interesting days ancd conversations.
I willl babbling, have a good day and God Bless

Thanks for all the encouragement. I've pretty much lost my mind with everyone I've come in contact with today. I'm wondering if it would be better to go lock myself in a closet for a few days until the rage subsides.

This is something I was concerned with as well. If appropriate, it may be beneficial to tell folks you are quitting tobacco. You'll probably be surprised of the support you receive.
Otherwise, take some deep breaths, hydrate, and walk away if you need to. You can always apologize later.
Know this: there is nothing more important than quitting tobacco right now regardless of the feelings you hurt. But man up; there is nothing gained by hurting those you love.
You doing great bro. Hang in there.

To add to these great words, we have to remember that we are the ones who did this to us, not anyone else. It is not their fault. If you need to be a douche bag, come on in here and do it to us. We know and understand. We have been there. It does get better but sometimes you just have to scream FUCK as loud as you can but just not towards others. So come on in and chew my ass all you want. It won't hurt my feelings any.
Go grab something to chew on (seeds, gum, jerky, anything) and keep busy and stay hydrated!
The most important thing I am about to say is what has helped me (besides all these awesome folks here) is always remember how bad this sucks! Do you want to go through this suck again? I sure the hell don't! Kind of like the old playing with fire thing...... Get burned once and you figure it out right? So yeah, always remember and never forget! This nic bitch is a sneaky one and she will sneak back in in a moments notice and love you to DEATH one more time if you allow her to do it.
Stay strong and use this site all the time. And don't quit for a day. That is a long time for a new quitter. Break it down to minutes. Then half hours. Then hours. Then on and on. Read the words of wisdom. Jump in live chat. And for the love of who ever you love, please use your quit group! Post roll, scream and shout, talk, jump in conversations and just be active.
Take it easy man. I quit with you every damn day!

Hi DBL!
Welcome to the site. You should see if you can get a mod to move this post to a thread of your own and use it as your intro. We are only allowed one intro here so this might as well be yours.
I can feel you on the gunsmith part. I get pissed so many times as well. I am just getting started and mainly doing drop-ins and minor stuff for now but still get pissed off. Doing my fair share of wood work until FFL comes through. For now all the repairs I do are my own and family for free of course. I never charge. Now through the help of everyone on this site, cat shit.... sorry, dip is not the first thing I think of anymore. I get up, walk off and come back after I grab a coffee or a sandwich or something and then carry on.
Head on over and find your quit group too and jump in and tell them about your self and post roll. That is the only price of admission here. We must post roll daily.
Take care man. I quit with you every damn day!!
