Title: Greetings from Rhode Island
Post by: frenchlick on September 08, 2012, 12:00:00 PM
My last dip was on Tuesday, September 4.

I am a 40 year old man that is currently living in RI. I have been dipping skoal lc since I was 16. 24 years.

Now is the time.

Stumbled on this community and it looks like a good support system. Gonna use it and kick this shitty addiction. I'm still a little foggy. 'bang head'

Gonna go do my first roll call.

Audi 5000.

Nice job stepping up and ending your slavery to the can. You are correct: You will get support here. As much as you want. Sometimes more than you want. Hopefully, you've already read the stuff in the WELCOME CENTER, and are now spending your foggy weekend browsing through WORDS OF WISDOM and HOF SPEECHES.

You posted roll today, so nicotine is simply not an option today. You CAN get through today. You have made a promise to do so. Now you just need to keep your word.

PM me if you have any questions or concerns. Glad to be quit with you.

Thanks. I appreciate the response. And I will reach out if I need it. I have read everything in the Welcome Center.

I'm doing alright so far. Four days and chewing alot of gum. Keeping busy. Mostly, dip was used in front of the tv when winding down for the day, watching sports or a movie.

I am currently laid up with an achilles tendon rupture. Had surgery but the recovery has been going terribly. Lots of down time which meant lots of skoal. But I decided now or never. Not gonna let this be a friggin crutch.

And nicotine isn't good for blood circulation. The ankle and foot gets poor enough blood circulation as it is. Want to do whatever I can to get the recovery sped up.

You still have a long road ahead of you but it is do worth it. My journey has been so rewarding, a lot of baggage I've been gathering along with dipping is being exposed and I'm getting a handle on it. Work on getting acquainted with fellow quitters and get contact #'s to lean on in a day of craving! Check your inbox I'll share my story!

Welcome and great decision, you will see alot about exercising to help in the first weeks, and well that achilles looks like a hinderance, so I will also offer up to keep yourself busy with hobbies.

Put together puzzles, models, be creative with little tasks at the workbench. As if you can't get to the gym to keep your body busy, at least you can keep that mind as busy as possible and occupied with some good, constructive.

I do some amateur leatherworking and did a little project when I was 3 weeks in, so it is just whatever it takes.

will quit with you today.

Yeah, this achilles really sucks as far as the exercising goes. But I can focus on rehab for the foot which is a good distraction. Also thinking of taking a few classes to keep my mind occupied. Help with furthering my career. Or even explore other ventures.

Feeling good today.

Day 6. Patriots look balanced offensively, revamped and upgraded defensively, and I am still nicotineless. Roll called. Life is good.

Red Sox still a catastrophe, but what can you do?

Amazing how posting roll has helped me. Reminds me I am doing something good for myself everyday. Still foggy, headaches and sores in my mouth. Mind games haven't been bad at all though. Posting roll. Great website. Such a help.

Day 22.

Finally getting on a normal shitting schedule without the dip. With the dip i shit like 4-5 times a day, sporatically. Without i am shitting 2 times with a pretty regular schedule. Fiber helps. Shits are alot healthier too, if that makes any sense to anyone. Who wants to talk about shitting? C'mon? Anyone? Hahaha!!!!

I had no idea nicotine was a laxative. My Doctor thought I had Celiac Disease and suggested I see a specialist to deal with the explosive nature of my colon. The specialist wanted to operate and take a small section of my intestines out for biopsy. Instead of that along with never eating bread or drinking beer again, I just quit. My shit still stinks but I much prefer a coil to peppering the bowl with a shotgun blast.

In all seriousness tho, it was becoming a problem over the last few years. I couldn't even drive the car for more than 15 minute without worrying about finding a spot i could take a dump. I had to map out even short little trips for the "just in case", make sure i knew there were places to "go" on route. Everything seems to be alright now tho. I mean, for 24 years i had that laxative fucking with me. I don't even remember what normal shitting patterns are.
