Hey Peeps!! My name is Ed, nice to meet you all. Been posting roll for a week. On day 7 of quit now. I don't think I would have made it 2 days without you guys. i appreciate the help!
Let's see...
Been chewing copenhagen a can a day for 25 years. Tried to quit countless times in the past. have never made it more than a day or two. married 10 years with two awesome daughters. Wife and oldest daughter have been on me about it a lot lately and finally decided to sack up and do this. I travel quite a bit for a living and the dip has become so ingrained in my routine that it literally seemed impossible to give it up.
Well, i have learned this week that with some pain in ass hard times and some good support it can happen. No easy fix. You don't wake up all of a sudden cured of this addiction. The only way out is to crawl your way out. I am about one foot in on a 1000 mile journey. I am just gonna keep my head down and keep crawling out of this mess and concentrate on the stuff that matters as best as I can!! i really hope i don't screw this up.
Thanks again for the help guys! this site rules!!!

Welcome Ed,
Great job on 7 days one day at a time. Trust me, don't even let your mind think "I hope I don't screw it up". That is a precursor to a cave.
You are quit. Nicotine is no longer an option. You burned your boat, you are fully committed to this. Again "YOU ARE QUIT AND THAT IS FINAL.
7 days, I bet it was hell. You want to go through it again? Stupid question- you aren't going through the first seven days again- BECAUSE YOU'RE QUIT!
Glad to be Quit with you

Good job Ed. Copenhagen addiction sucks, but Copenhagen induced cancer sucks alot more. We've all been there, craves after eating/driving/drinking/insert excuse here. Fight through it, caving is not an option.
-
Ed, you sound like a gem man. Keep it up, I'm about the same distance in you are (im day 11), and may I ask, through all the suck, how GREAT does it feel knowing that you arent a slave bitch to Copenhagen.
Also, this may help you, but instead of an addiction to nic, get a mindset to be addicted to being QUIT. Get a personal high every minute you are quit. I put that mindset into my head and it works. Cause quit is better than being a slave bitch...
Anyways, I have rambled on, stay quit my brother, and I wanna see you in roll call every day.
-
Nice. I love to read these introductions. One day at a time, then repeat. PM me if I can help in any way.

Hey Peeps.. Just jumping in to say hi. Wanted to let all you guys know how much I appreciate all the help I have been given by all of you on this site. I would have never made it to this point without you. Made some really great friends on here and as I get to know them I realize how much they are just like me. Trying to get thru this and help each other. Makes it even that much better for me. I know I have a long way to go and I am not cocky about my 65 days at all. Just starting to come out of the fog and am realizing how many great people are on this site. And how many great tools are at our disposal.
If I can give any advice to any new guys it this... POST ROLL EVERY DAY... just with that act alone you are telling yourself and all these people trying to help you that you are not gonna use it today. You are respecting the site and the people who use it. Most of all you are respecting yourself. And you are putting a stamp on your brain for the day that says.." I PROMISED.. I cant cant let them or myself down today" IT WORKS!!!
CHAT, use it.. It's the same principal... When you crave- get on chat and talk to whoever is there. They know what's up and have no problem giving you tips and advice to keep you straight. These guys and gals know exactly what you are going thru.... more than your spouse or best buddy...Can't tell you how many times I was craving really hard and raging on my family and instead of going to 7-11 I signed onto chat and these guys talked me down or let me know what I would be giving up with that trip to 7-11. And they kept me from hurting the feelings of my family for no reason.
NUMBERS, Get numbers from quitters here on the site that can help you if you get into a bind. Call 'em if you freak out and can't find somebody on chat. Give them your number as well so they can call you if you don't show up for roll..I know it seems weird giving your number to a stranger on the internet but, I have never had a problem with anyone I gave my number to on this site. Good people who want to help you!
CRAVES 65 days in i still get them all the time.. BE CAREFUL.. Craves can pop out at the weirdest times.... Today I had breakfast then went outside and waited for my wife to come out so we could run some errands... Sitting on the steps in front I was hit with a gnarly crave... This was the time.. all alone.. nobody there.. my normal time to plop in some dip and chill no problem till the wife came out... 65 days later and it's still slapping me in the face.. Point is you have to go thru this stuff and learn how to fight it... over and over again. But it works... You get the gnarly cave after breakfast.. you remember your promise... you sign onto chat and they talk you down.. worked for me so far.
Don't know why I am posting all this tonight. Maybe it's the overwhelming feeling of gratitude to all of you who have helped me. Or maybe it's from meeting some new guys who reminded me that I was just there a short time ago and maybe I can help them too..Either way just wanted to say thanks!! Myself, My wife and the rest of my family thanks you!!!
Please pardon my grammar...;)
Stay quit!!!

Hey Quitters, Just saying heyo and stay quit!!! I have been gone for a month and had some friends on here helping me out while with roll and stuff. I learned a bit in the last month. Just a bit more old man wisdom. There are long days and there are LOOOONG days... No reason to crack. use the tools right here!.. There are bad days and there are REALLY SHITTY DAYS... Don't fall down... Text a friend on here.. Call a brother or sister, sign on to chat and get a healthy dose of quit. These tools work great. Great people with great advice. This shit works!! Thanks god for that!! There is no secret formula. No tricks. Just like a great song it's really simple. You have to scrape away all the bullshit to see that it's just quit, that's it. Really is that simple. Would you jump out a plane without a parachute? Nope, You have made a solid decision about that...Well, just decide to quit. Thanks dudes!! you guys rule!!!
